The Academy ExperienceOur experienced and friendly staff provide a positive learning environment. Students will practise their English language skills, make new friends from all around the world, and develop their passion through speciality courses.

At EC Academy, our high ratio of staff will provide students

with focused attention both in their English classes and their

Our Unique ProgrammesA unique blend of English language and specialist courses alongside a full programme of activities and excursions with students from all over the world – that is what makes the EC Academy experience something special.

With maximum class sizes of 12, and an on-site staff to student

ratio of 1:5, students will get the personal attention they need

to maximise their progress with EC Academy. The international

environment in our academies is perfect for learning English and

will encourage students to step outside their comfort zone.

As well as developing skills in the English language and their

chosen specialist course, students will develop vital life skills

through their participation in classes, activities and excursions.

They will also get the opportunity to discover different cultures

broaden their horizons in a supportive environment.

For ages 9 to 17, students can spend the summer creating

memories of a lifetime.

Activity, Excitement, Discovery

Professional instructors will focus on developing students’ techniques and skills required to progress in their chosen specialised course with fun and enjoyable sessions. At EC Academy we strive to ensure that every student leaves with confidence in their newly developed or improved skills and with a real sense of achievement.

EXCURSIONSAll students go on two half-day and three full day activities

every two weeks*. Roedean students can enjoy trips to parks

such as Thorpe Park or the world-famous Windsor Castle.

Those studying in Malta can visit the capital city of Valletta, a

UNESCO world heritage site, or explore Malta’s sister island,

Gozo. Los Angeles is packed with action, from Disneyland to

Santa Monica Pier!

A great addition to a summer of learningCHOOSE BETWEEN 14 DIFFERENT SPECIALISED COURSES

ACTIVITIESActivities are organised every evening to ensure students

make friends, continue to put their English into practice, as

well as develop important life skills.

Four afternoons a week*, students will spend an hour in a

whole-academy activity which is a great opportunity for

existing students to meet new starters and catch up with

friends they have already made. Evening activities range from

talent shows and the Academy Carnival where students get to

be creative and have fun, to quizzes and games which require

students to use their teamwork and problem-solving skills. Our

activity programmes also include a lot of different sports.

MEET-AND-GREET UPON ARRIVALEC Academy provides a dedicated meet-and-greet and

transfer* service for all students to ensure a smooth arrival

and transfer to centre.

DEPARTURE TRANSFERWe provide a departure transfer* for all students and our

team will also assist students checking in at the airport.

24-HOUR SUPPORTAnyone who has questions or needs any kind of support can

speak to our staff at the centre or contact our dedicated

Academy 24-hour emergency telephone number.

GUARDME INSURANCEAll students travelling abroad must have adequate

insurance in case of a medical or other emergency. EC

Academy offers a comprehensive insurance policy called

Guardme,whichisspecificallydesignedtomeettheneeds

of international students.

* Students may be grouped together with others that are arriving at a similartimeunlessspecificallyrequestedtheytravelindividually.

We place the highest priority on care and supervision at our Academy locations to ensure students feel relaxed, comfortable and supported - creating a home away from home.

STUDENT CARE AND WELFAREThe accommodation is made up of various boarding houses or

single and shared rooms that are welcoming and comfortable.

Each Academy provides 24-hour pastoral care required for the

students in their residence, waking them up every morning,

making sure they eat well and are happy and participating.

MEALSA range of food is available at our Academy locations with

three meals served per day. Additional snacks and drinks are

also available twice a day on weekdays. On full-day excursions

packed lunches will be provided.

Originally founded in 1885, Roedean is one of the most prestigious and well known independent boarding schools in the UK.

Its current site was established in 1898 and offers excellent

facilities,including40acresofplayingfieldsandspacefor

activities, several tennis courts, a large indoor sports hall,

astro turf, squash courts and an indoor swimming pool

with spectacular views out to sea. This beautiful school also

provides art and dance studios, comfortable boarding houses

and a modern dining room where students are offered a

healthy and balanced diet.

Students’ accommodation consists of mostly single and twin

rooms, there are also several multi-bed rooms. Surrounded by

the stunning South Downs countryside, the school overlooks

Brighton Marina and is only a short bus ride away from

the popular seaside city of Brighton. Trains from Brighton

to London take less than an hour, which makes it a very

accessible destination.

ACCOMMODATIONThe boarding houses have mostly standard single and twin

rooms. The girls accommodation has only single rooms and

the boys has some single, twin and multi-bedded rooms.

Throughout the last 100 years, University of California Los

Angeles has established its reputation as a “Public Ivy”,

making it equivalent to an education from an Ivy League

university. The location is in the centre of the city making it

perfect to enjoy the best of living in Los Angeles. Students will

enjoy the facilities of a huge university, including 16 dedicated

recreationalandathleticfacilities,fitnesscentre,numerous

swimming pools and much more!

All residences halls are a short walk away from each other

andthepathsbetweenthemarefilledwithnumerousshops

and options for food. Los Angeles is one of the most

Students stay in a beautiful 4-star seafront resort in one of Malta’s most popular tourist destinations. Close to the sea and Malta’s sandy beaches as well as the aquarium, students will enjoy a wonderful summer resort experience in safe environment with the benefit of 4-star facilities.

bathrooms and a range of facilities including air conditioned

GolfExpert instruction for students at all levels by a Professional Golf Association coach.

Instruction takes place at a local professional golf club. The

facilities are excellent with full length practice range, practice

bunker, chipping and putting greens. Advanced students may

play the course itself.

The PGA coaches can cater for all abilities including high

Horse RidingRide at an equestrian centre that offers a wealth of experience in fantastic locations.

Eachstudentwillreceiveanabilitytestontheirfirstdayatthe

equestrian centre. The professional instructors will create a

programme adapted to the students’ abilities and select a

horse or pony accordingly for the week.

SailingMake a splash this summer and take to the water for a sailing course.

This programme gives students the opportunity to take

advantageoffullyqualifiedandexperiencedinstructors–

accredited by the Royal Yachting Association in the UK and the

Malta Young Sailors Club in Malta. Students will take to the water

on the English Channel in our Roedean Academy, alternatively

in Malta the students set sail on the crystal clear Mediterranean

sea from the sea-side town of St Paul’s Bay. Students learn basic

nautical skills and may sail a variety of boats. Buoyancy aids are

For students who’ve always wanted to learn how to scuba dive, it’s time to discover new adventures and see the wondrous world beneath the waves with a PADI Open Water certification!

Learning to dive is incredible, the PADI Open Water Course

introduces students to breathing underwater for the first time

and learn what they need to know to become a certified diver.

The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world’s most popular

scuba course and has introduced millions of people to the

adventurous diving lifestyle.

During the course, students will make at least five pool dives

and four dives at local dive sites under the supervision of a

local PADI Instructor. Malta is constantly rated one of the best

diving locations in the Mediterranean, with crystal blue waters

and lots of sites near the shoreline, including lots of shipwrecks.

From scuba diving under the sea to ziplining high in the air,

our Outdoor Adventure programme is great for not only

learning new skills but also for stepping outside one’s comfort

zone. Malta is built for adventure, with crystal blue seas,

staggeringly high cliffs and plenty of countryside to make the

most of this experience.

Students can expect to enjoy at least 4 days per week doing an

Outdoor Sport activity, at least 2 hours each session. Instructors

will take students all around the island, exploring every nook

andcrannythatwouldotherwisebeimpossibletofind!

Outdoor AdventurePerfect for anyone who loves to be outside! Students will try a wide range of activities designed to spark a sense of adventure, all set in the beautiful backdrop of Malta.

With our curriculum at UCLA designed by graduates of some

of the leading Ivy League universities in the US. In Malta the

programme is brought to students by PWC. Students will use

games like Fortnite, Overwatch, Minecraft or League of Legends

to further their understanding of the industry. At UCLA students

have access to a full lab including 3D printers, computers and

any other technology required to complete their projects.

Students can expect to enjoy at least 4 days per week at their

Coding and Gaming programme, for at least 2 hours each

session. Our dedicated staff will be there to assist students

during every stage of their project.

Academic StudyA true taste of a British education with subjects taught by qualified British school teachers.

This programme teaches a variety of subjects, including maths,

science, art and humanities. It’s ideal for students who are currently

at intermediate level English or above and who want to experience

what it would be like to study in an English school or to prepare for

further study at an English speaking school, college or university

Students who book onto this programme will be asked to take a

short level test in advance to verify they are intermediate level. If

their level is seen to be less than intermediate, we will recommend

an alternative, such as Intensive English.
