Excitación de SPPs (Surfaceplasmons polaritons)
The existence of this resonance is based on a unique and simple opticalphenomenon. In this phenomenon, the collective coherent oscillations of freeelectrons in the conduction band of a metal is first excited by the interactiveelectromagnetic field at a metal/dielectric interface and these created chargedensity oscillations are called surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs). The SPPs willthen form an electric field that exponentially decays into its surrounding mediumwith a penetration depth in hundreds of nanometers range.
