The Australian National University (ANU) has a distinct national and global mission, and a reputation that places it among the finest universities in the world.

ANU is Australia’s top university according to the QS World Rankings 2014/15. In 2015, by the same measure, four subjects are ranked in the top 10 and thirteen subjects are ranked in the top 25 in the world.

The University is rated best in Australia for graduate employability and number 23 in the world as measured by the Global Employability University Survey 2014.

With the highest percentage of staff with a PhD in Australia and the country’s lowest student-to-staff ratio, ANU students have real access to some of the world’s leading academics.

Exchange & Study Abroad at ANU

Located in Australia’s national capital, Canberra, ANU is one of the largest residential campuses in Australia and houses about 5,000 students.

The student community includes around 21,000 students, nearly half of whom are studying at undergraduate level.

In 2014, ANU students gave the University a 91 per cent satisfaction rating in the International Student Barometer, three per cent higher than the global benchmark.

Canberra is a young, energetic and safe city, with students making up around 25 per cent of the city’s population.

Canberra enjoys four distinct seasons and boasts long, sunny days with an average of seven hours of sunlight per day in summer and cool crisp skies in winter.

ANU has seven academic Colleges. They bring together research and teaching across multiple disciplines including:

The University’s proximity to government, parliament and the diplomatic corps delivers a unique experience for students with an interest in international relations.

The ANU Department of International Relations is a leading centre for the study of global politics. Exchange & Study Abroad at ANU

Established by ANU in 1993, the Australian National Internships Program (ANIP) has already provided over 1,500 students with the opportunity to undertake a significant research project within a workplace.

Tertiary students from any university in the world can participate in ANIP after completing two full years of university study in any discipline.

This elite program arranges internships in Australian federal, state and territory governments, the Australian Public Service and in non-government organisations.

Exchange & Study Abroad at ANU

To study at ANU through exchange or study abroad, international students need to submit an online application with supporting documents.

Exchange

International students enrolled at one of our partner institutions can apply to be an exchange student at ANU if they are nominated by their institution.

Students can apply for study abroad at ANU as an international fee-paying student if their university does not have an exchange agreement with ANU.

Requirements

Choosing ANU as a study destination requires meeting certain criteria and students will need to supply original or certified documents to support their application, including:

> Academic transcript and current course enrolment (including translation if not in English) showing a credit average equal to 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale, or 75 per cent average

> Recognised English language test results if applicable.

Overall score of 6.5 with at least 6 in each component

Overall score of 7 with at least 6 in each component

TOEFL (Internet- based test)

A score of 80, with a minimum of 20 in Reading and Writing and a minimum of 18 in Speaking and Listening

A score of 100, with a minimum of 22 in all four sections

TOEFL (Paper-based test)

Overall score of 570 with TWE of 4.5 or above

Overall score of 600 with TWE of 5.0
