Exchange of Notes constituting an Agreement between the Government of Australia and the Government of Singapore to amend Annex 2C and Annex 2D

of the Singapore-Australia Free Trade Agreement (SAFTA) to ensure compliance with changes to the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding

System to come into effect on 1 January 2007 Note from Australia The Australian High Commission presents its compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore and has the honour to refer to the Singapore–Australia Free Trade Agreement (“the Agreement”). The High Commission has the further honour to refer to the amendments to Annex 2C and Annex 2D of the Agreement which have been settled between the Government of Australia and the Government of the Republic of Singapore. The amended versions of Annex 2C and Annex 2D are attached to this Note. The Embassy has the honour to propose that, in accordance with Article 7 of Part 17 of the Agreement, this Note, together with a Note in reply from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore accepting the terms of this Note, shall constitute an agreement in writing to amend the Agreement in the following terms. That ANNEX 2C: LIST OF GOODS WHICH MUST BE SUBJECT TO THE LAST PROCESS OF MANUFACTURE WITHIN THE TERRITORY OF A PARTY be replaced with ANNEX 2C: LIST OF GOODS WHICH MUST BE SUBJECT TO THE LAST PROCESS OF MANUFACTURE WITHIN THE TERRITORY OF A PARTY (CONSOLIDATION TO REFLECT HS2007 CHANGES). And that ANNEX 2D: LIST OF GOODS SUBJECT TO 30% THRESHOLD be replaced with ANNEX 2D: LIST OF GOODS SUBJECT TO 30% THRESHOLD (CONSOLIDATION TO REFLECT HS2007 CHANGES). These amendments shall enter into force on 1 January 2007. The Embassy avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore the assurances of its highest consideration.
