They serve a myriad of pur- poses. In this document I’ll outline their functionality. I refer to layers extensively throughout the book since they are inevitably where all aspects of an image are created. A Photoshop document can have as many layers present in the document as memory will permit. Each of the layers contains parts of the overall image.
