Overview of our Full Year and Semester ProgramsWe offer excellent services in all of our schools and centres.We deliver a rigorous academic curriculum in a structuredenvironment. Each of our schools is dedicated to strivingfor educational excellence and to preparing students forfull and active participation in Quebec, Canadian andglobal society. We place a high importance on helpingour students to become more knowledgeable, more self-directed, and more self-disciplined.

We offer many different models and designs to meet thediverse needs of our international students. In each of ourschools, we provide a wide variety of curricular offerings.Students are encouraged to excel in academic, athletic,leadership, student governance and extra curricular activities.

Our schools follow the curriculum as established by theMinistry of Education of Quebec. We provide a number ofmodels of supportive and accelerated English-languagelearning for international students.

The Lester B. Pearson School BoardThe Lester B. Pearson School Board is the largest Englishschool board in Quebec, Canada. We serve approximately32,000 students in 60 elementary schools, secondaryschools, adult education training and vocational trainingcentres. The Lester B. Pearson School Board is a schoolsystem that welcomes international students as youngpeople who enrich the educational setting for Canadianyouth and who can benefit from a warm and welcoming Canadian learning setting.

Dormitory ResidenceInternational students may choose to live in residencewhile attending classes in schools of the Lester B. PearsonSchool Board. Dormitory residences are located inside theLester B. Pearson School Board International LanguageCentre. Students are provided with private rooms and aresupervised by resident program supervisors. Supervisorsare responsible for meal preparation, laundry assistance,activity organization and student supervision.

Each dorm room is equipped with a single bed, dresser,night stand (small dresser), desk, chair, desk lamp andwireless access to internet. The dormitory residence hasseveral lounge areas equipped with couches and TVs. Theresidence has a gymnasium, computer lab and a full sizecafeteria. There is 24 hour security which provides for asafe secure environment for the students.

Dormitory living contributes to our learning community.Living in the dormitory allows the student to enjoy common activities. Students will be challenged to learnmore about themselves and the world around them.These experiences enable students to become educated,open-minded, mature people who are connected to andcare about the world in which they live. Today, our community reaches around the globe.

HomestayHomestay families are chosen based upon their desire tohost a visiting student and their ability to provide a safe,comfortable home environment and a positive cultural experience for their new family member.

Students are matched with Homestay families based oncommon interests and activities. Since a student’s well-being is the foremost priority of the Lester B. PearsonSchool Board, Homestay families are carefully screened.Police screening is mandatory for all host familiy candidates and all members (of legal age) of the family.

Each family is interviewed in the home and is chosen forits ability and desire to welcome a young person. AHomestay family provides care and guidance as well asroom and board for the student.

The families are diverse. They may have children of anyage, not necessarily teenagers, or they may not have children at all. There may be other relatives living in thehome. They will all have one feature in common - a desireto welcome an international student into their home andto treat him/her as a member of the family.

Homestay families welcome their new "son" or "daughter"in all day-to-day activities. They offer guidance, helpinginternational students to adjust throughout their stay andhelping them to understand life in Canada. Above all,they will want to welcome them as a member of their family. They agree to take a young person from anothercountry into their home and teach him or her about theirown culture and language.
