Page 1 Greene County MU Extension EXCEL Leadership Program Last updated 8/2/18 EXCEL Leadership Program for Greene County Individuals that enroll in the Greene County MU Extension EXCEL Leadership Program will be required to earn a set number of points to graduate the program but this can be done at your own pace. Various county and extension programs and events provide a different amount points. The goal is to 1) expose participants to the people and issues of Greene County and 2) to provide practical opportunities to develop leadership skills for the benefit of their community and even employer. Program participants will be regularly updated on upcoming programs via an emailed newsletter to program participants and alumni. As events are developed and scheduled, program participants will be notified. Participants will have a menu of options from which to pick and up to three years to complete the program. Thanks to a grant and sponsors like the Greene County Commission, the EXCEL program does not have an enrollment fee. Some materials and trainings are provided free- of-charge. Some events where leadership points could be earned do have registration fees. We will offer various leadership trainings and programs and an EXCEL graduation where class graduates will be recognized formally. We plan to host events for EXCEL alumni or involving alumni in other events too as part of ongoing professional development. EXCEL Leadership Program for Greene County

Individuals that enroll in the Greene County MU Extension EXCEL Leadership Program will be required to earn a set number of points to graduate the program but this can be done at your own pace.

Various county and extension programs and events provide a different amount points. The goal is to 1) expose participants to the people and issues of Greene County and 2) to provide practical opportunities to develop leadership skills for the benefit of their community and even employer.

____ Attend a Tuesday Greene County Huddle meeting at the Historic Courthouse. Events and topics

IMPACT REPORT ON EXCEL

The following items would be considered significant impacts of EXCEL in Greene County

since 2017.

Class member pursued answers to the housing shortage in Ash Grove and up meetings that

lead to a proposal to the Homebuilders Association about building in Ash Grove; creation of

a property inventory for the city; and creation of a packet for builders regarding costs and

contacts for building in Ash Grove.

Creation of a Volunteer Recruitment Fair/Expo in Republic with an emphasis on volunteer

recruitment for non-profits.

Start of cooking classes at the food pantry in Ash Grove for low-income families.

Develop a training/coordination program for volunteers in Ash Grove to maintain flowers at

the welcome signs, park and city triangle.

EXCEL team member created a list of safe places in western Greene County. These are

places (marked with a yellow triangle) where those in danger from abuse can see refuge un-

til police are contacted.

Worked with the City of Republic to name a new city walking trail in honor of a fallen

solider (grad of Republic) and the creation of a hero wall inside the high school.

Development of a communication mode between senior centers in Ash Grove and Republic

to connect drivers and cooks when a need exists.

Creation of an Ash Grove endowment as part of the Community Foundation of the Ozarks.

Probably known as the Ash Grove Foundation, this will seek to capture monies and keep

them in Ash Grove for benevolent purposes and community development.

Creation of a welcome sign for the city of Willard. The original idea was a “W” shaped

planter funded by local businesses.

A graduate took on bylaws and organizing the creation of the a Neighborhood Association

in Springfield.

A student felt confident enough to run and win the office of president for the Missouri Li-

brary Association
