Exam timetable May/June 2017

GCSE, AQA Certificate (all levels except Level 3), ELC, FCSE, FSMQ (Foundation and Higher), Level 1 and 2 Projects and QCF

General notes

1. GCSE and GCSE Applied (Double Award) exams are timetabled in common exam slots agreed by all exam boards under the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ).

2. Each exam must be taken on the day and at the time shown on the timetable. The published starting time of all exams is either 9.00am or 1.30pm. Students taking more than one exam in a session should take these consecutively. A supervised break may be given between the exams taken consecutively at the discretion of the school/college.

3. Schools/colleges may start an exam up to 30 minutes before the published starting time without notifying AQA.

4. Schools/colleges may delay the starting time of an exam by up to 30 minutes later than the published starting time without notifying AQA.

5. For information on any other timetable variations, please refer to the JCQ Instructions for conducting examinations or contact Customer services.

6. Students must remain under supervision until 10.00am for morning exams and 2.30pm for afternoon exams. For exams of less than one hour’s duration, students must remain under supervision for a period equal to the duration of the exam after the published starting time shown on the timetable.

7. Some components require the issue of question papers, stimulus material or other information in advance of the normal timetable period. Schools/colleges should check the specification for information on the material required by students.

8. Any reading time allowed for an exam is included in the time specified.

9. Schools/colleges must arrange practical and oral units according to the procedures given on the relevant subject page of our website. Such units are shown only on the ‘Subject and product list’ pages of this document.

Subject/qualification notes

10. Schools/colleges should submit their internally-assessed marks/assessments so that they are received by AQA and their designated AQA moderator by the dates shown in the table below. Similarly, externally assessed speaking tests should be received by the school/college designated AQA examiner by the dates shown in the table below.

11. Students entered for the May/June 2017 exams may carry forward their internally-assessed component marks according to the guidance given on the Carry forward of marks page of our website.

12. The externally set task question papers for GCSE Art and Design will be dispatched to

schools/colleges in December 2016 and can be issued to students from 1 January 2017. 13. The preliminary material for GCSE Media Studies unit 48101 is to be issued to students on or after

24 April 2017. 14. For GCSE Performing Arts and GCSE Performing Arts (Double Award) the preliminary material for

the Showcase unit (48802) and Chosen Commission Briefs unit (48804) will be dispatched to schools/colleges in October 2016, to be issued to students 1 November 2016.

15. The GCSE Business and Communication Systems computer based exam (413009) must be

conducted between 1 May 2017 and 5 May 2017. 16. The speaking tests for Certificates in French, German and Spanish should be conducted between

24 April 2017 and 15 May 2017.
