It is with great pleasure and pride in our students and staff that I introduce the examination results for 2017. Ofsted praised Haydon for the “particularly positive relationships between teachers and students” which “ensures an excellent climate for learning”.

This is clearly borne out again by our 2017 examination results. The Year 13 A-level and BTEC National results were excellent: 53% of grades were at A* to B and 76% at A* to C.

The total number of students going on to University in September 2017 currently stands at 181 including 58 to Russell Group Universities, the most challenging to get into. You can see the types of university courses our 2017 students are following within this booklet. In Year 12 the results were also outstanding. 46% of these results were awarded the highest grades of A and B. Our value added Year 12 results have been judged independently by ALPS as “Outstanding”.

At GCSE, 75% of students gained grades 9 to 4 in English and Mathematics and 73% of students gained 5A* to C passes including English and Mathematics (or 4+). 25% of all entries were graded A* or A (or 9 to 7) and 54% were graded A* to B (or 9 to 5). In Mathematics, 79% of students achieved 9 to 4 and in English the figure was 82%.

It is a strength of Haydon that the majority of our students stay with us from Year 7 to Year 13. Parents can be confident that their son or daughter will be guaranteed high quality education throughout the crucial secondary years.
