+New Information for 2018/19
Dual Tour Model
The Dual Tour model is now providing maximum flexibility and many more options for teachers, in terms of when and where candidates can be entered for exams. In addition, it has created opportunities for examination entry where none has existed in the past. As outlined last year:
• You have the option to enter candidates in an RAV in every session that is offered in your province.
• You can enter candidates in an AEC and an RAV in the same session; simply use a separate online entry form for each.
• If you do not have enough candidates to have an examiner come to your studio for an AEC session, or if your studio does not meet the minimum size requirements, your exams can be held at an RAV (RAV exam fees would apply).
Solo Seal Exams
To help teachers and students prepare in the most effective manner, dates for Solo Seal exams will now be announced in advance. For the 2018-19 Academic year, we are planning Solo Seal exams as follows:
• Ottawa (Monday, December 3, 2018)• Edmonton (Saturday, March 2, 2019)• Vancouver (Friday, March 8, 2019)• Toronto (Saturday, May 25, 2019)
As per the RAD Specifications, a minimum number of entries must be received in order for the Solo Seal exams to go ahead. Should this minimum number not be reached, students will have the option of either transferring their application to another city, or withdrawing their entry.
Hosting
If your entry does not meet the minimum three hours of exam time or $1,575 in exam fees, you have the following options:
• Pay a top-up fee to bring your entry to the minimum $1,575 exam fee requirement. Complete and pay for your entry online and then contact your exam planner at the RAD Canada office to pay the top-up fee.
• Make arrangements in advance to have your exams hosted at another teacher’s studio. When completing your online entry, indicate in the ‘notes’ section the name of the studio where you have arranged to hold your exams.
• Have your candidates take their exams at an RAV.
5
Discovering Repertoire Beginning with the Fall 2018 session, teachers can enter their students for Discovering Repertoire exams or class awards.
There are three levels in the programme, and each level contains three units. The Levels refer to their placement on the UK educational framework, so Level 2 is equivalent to Grade 5/Intermediate Foundation standard; Level 3 is equivalent to Grades 6 - 8, Intermediate and Advanced Foundation standard; and Level 4 is equivalent to Advanced 1 and Advanced 2 standard.
Please note that while the Discovering Repertoire levels are of equivalent standard to the vocational levels, they cannot be used as substitutes for pre-requisites for Advanced Foundation, Advanced 1 or Advanced 2 exams.

Exam Guide 2018-19.indd 7 2018-07-13 12:32 PM
Entry Submissions
All entries must be submitted online.
Late entries are accepted at the RAD’s discretion and are subject to the following late fees:
• 10% surcharge up to 1 week late• 20% surcharge between 1 and 2 weeks late
After the closing date, requests for changes to the schedule due to cancellations or other reasons must be submitted to your exam planner in writing. If approved, all changes will incur a minimum fee of $100.
Be sure to indicate all teachers responsible for the preparation of each candidate.
A limited number of impossible dates may be indicated on your entry form. Do not enter candidates who expect to be away for a large portion of the session, as RAD Canada cannot consider the extended absence of a few candidates as a valid restriction for the entire studio.
A notification specifying the time, date and location for exams will be sent to the designated correspondent at least two weeks before the beginning of the session.
Reasonable Adjustments
Candidates who are concerned about entering for an exam due to a barrier such as a disability or medical condition, may submit a Reasonable Adjustment application. The RAD will review the submission and make adjustments to administrative and/or exam procedures, if these are judged to be reasonable, necessary and practicable.
Pre-requisites
Candidates may enter for an exam and its pre-requisite in the same session. In this case, the award of the exam (if passed) will be dependent on the required pre-requisite also being passed.

Multiple Exams
Candidates may:• re-take an exam as many times as they wish, regardless of the

+Additional Services
Cancellations & Refunds
Teachers should inform their exam planner of any cancellations prior to the exam date.
Candidates who cancel because of illness are eligible for a 50% refund of the entry fee, provided that a signed medical certificate or doctor’s letter is submitted to the RAD Canada office. Refunds will be payable to the studio or correspondent.
No refunds will be given for candidates who are entered for a Demonstration Class but do not participate; if these candidates have been regularly attending classes with the teacher, they may still receive a certificate listing their achievements.
Special Consideration
Special Consideration is a post-exam adjustment to the mark of a candidate who was prepared for and took an exam, but who may have been disadvantaged by temporary adverse circumstances that arose prior to, or at the time of the exam.
Such circumstances could include an illness or injury, or some other event outside of the candidate’s control, which had, or was reasonably likely to have had, a material effect on their ability to take an assessment or demonstrate their level of attainment.
A Special Consideration form can be obtained from your exam planner, or downloaded from the RAD Canada website.
Result Enquiry Service
The RAD offers a Result Enquiry service, for which a fee is payable. Result Enquiry application forms are included with results and certificates, and are also available from the RAD Canada website. Completed forms should be submitted to your exam planner.
Replacement Result Forms, Certificates & Medals
Requests for replacement result forms, assessment reports, certificates, or medals must be made in writing to RAD Canada. The cost of each page and/or medal is $20.
In accordance with equalities law and best practice, the Academy will re-issue a certificate or result form under a new name for a candidate who subsequently changes their gender identity, although the result form will continue to indicate whether the male or female syllabus was performed. In accordance with regulatory requirements, replacement certificates and result forms are labeled as such.
