Retake Policy for Core EC-6 and 4-8

• If a candidate does not pass one or more of the Subject Exams, s/he is eligible to retake:

– a single Subject Exam (passed all other Subject Exams)

– the overall Core Subjects exam (did not pass two or more Subject Exams)

• The registration system will not allow a candidate to register for a single Subject Exam if there are two or more remaining to pass.

Content Advisory Committees

• Educators who are subject matter experts are asked to review draft exam materials which include exam frameworks and exam items.

• Content Advisory Committee members may also assist TEA in other development activities.

Equity Assurance Panels

• Educators will review exam materials for potential sources of bias according to established review criteria pertaining to exam content, language, offensiveness, and stereotypes.

• Members make recommendations that will help prevent potential bias that would disadvantage a person because of her or his gender, race, nationality, ethnicity, religion, age, sexual orientation, disability, or cultural, economic, or geographic background.

• SBEC approved at board meeting 4/26/19

• Offers EPPs the opportunity to participate during the 2019-2020 school-year and renew for the 2020-2021 school-year.

• Two primary purposes:

(1) to identify and develop best practices on implementation of edTPA by EPPs

(2) to measure early outcomes for candidates and EPPs who complete edTPA

• Pilot is an option for EPPs to use submission in place of the current Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities (PPR) exam

• Pilot candidates will receive a standard certification upon successful completion of the edTPA portfolio and will not be required to take the PPR.

• No change to current PPR policy and requirements for EPPs that do not participate in the pilot

4. Is there a structured timeline for student testing with accommodations to be approved or denied?

• Most candidates will be contacted regarding the resolution of a request for alternative testing arrangements within three weeks after the request form and all required documentation have been received.

• Some alternative testing arrangements (e.g., Braille tests) have specialized production requirements associated with them, and more time for production may be required. Test appointments will be scheduled based on the time needed for production of materials.

5. Is there a way to get one report that shows overall pass/fail/score, domain scores, & competency scores?

• Candidate score reports are available in ResultsAnalyzer under Examinee Data via the “Score Report Finder” tab

6. Is it possible to list the time of the scheduled exam in the Registration Data?

7. In the future, will ResultsAnalyzer allow for PPR exam data to be disaggregated by the correlated content area?

• For #6 & 7, these requests have been added to the ResultsAnalyzer development roadmap for review.
