5 Nov 1605 - Guy Fawkes and his co conspirators managed to blow up the Houses of Parliament whilst the King was present. The King was seriously injured but held on to life for 6 months before finally passing away.

Midnight 28 July 1588 – The 8 fire ships sent to disrupt the Spanish Armada anchored off Calais were never arrived. The weather was too rough and the ships fires couldn’t be maintained.
Consequently Medina Sidona’s Spanish fleet remained in tact and looked destined to meets its mission of supporting a Spanish invasion of England from Gravelines in Belgium.
