DESCRIPTION

Thank you all for a wonderful 2012! We continue to be amazed at how networking with so many wonderful people and organizations can save so many lives. We appreciate all of you who have fostered, adopted, transported, talked about or contributed to eWOOF or another rescue or shelter in any way. It really does make a difference! We want to highlight the next low-cost spay/neuter clinic being held in Star Valley March 1 and 2. According to their website, they altered 130 animals at their December clinic in Rock Springs! This really makes such a difference in the lives of so many people and pets. Please check their website or send them an email to see when they might be in your area. Financial donations are always welcome, as are offers to volunteer and help the days of the clinics. They can be reached at [email protected] or visit their website at www.animaladoptioncenter.org Here's to 2013 and many happy adoptions!Christina, Sherry, Vicki and Kathy

PLEASE NOTE: Time is of the essence for helping the dogs featured in the e-WOOF newslet-ters. Please contact the name/numbers for each dog before contacting e-WOOF.

In most cases, time is lim-ited for the dogs featured in our newsletters--with that in mind, we try to get the word out to as many contacts as we can using this publication. Work on behalf of the animals for finding them homes and/or rescues comes from many, many sources and is an ONGOING effort dealt with a sense of urgency. In some cases there may be times when a sudden adoption and/or rescue comes through at the exact time our newsletter is is-sued. This is an unforeseen circumstance on our part---while we certainly under-stand the “crossover” may cause frustrations for you as the prospective adopter of an animal we hope you join us in rejoicing for an animal being saved.

We appreciate and thank you for your continued

support FOR THE ANIMALS!

favorite treat is a juicy meaty bone to chew on, but loves all kinds of tidbit treats as rewards. GEORGE. Just over a 1 yr old, neutered, male American Staf-fordshire/ Labrador mix. He is up to date on shots, complete health check done by Altitude Veterinary Hospital, loves water, and needs a younger couple or family to help spend his puppy energy and to give him a routine he can count on! He is good with other dogs, kids, but needs help in not chasing smaller critters (like cats). He knows basic commands, is currently in foster, and a trainer is available to help with transition to a new household. Also, we are still looking for a new foster family until a new adoptive family is found - can you help? RED. Approximately 2.5 years old, neutered, male American Staf-fordshire. Red is up to date on shots, complete health check done by Altitude Veterinary Hospital, knows some basic commands but needs a strong parental personality to lead him in socializa-tion around other dogs and in continued consistency in obedience training. He needs help in not making direct eye contact with other dogs (because it’s rude and signals aggression to other dogs). Red is good with kids, but needs help in not chasing smaller critters (like cats). He knows basic commands, currently in foster, and a trainer is available to help with transition to a new household. GOLDEE is 5-8 years old, spayed, and a female golden long haired Tabby. She is up to date on shots, complete health check done by Altitude Veterinary Hospital and has feline herpes but with ongo-ing treatment of a very reasonably priced supplement, Lysine (cost $30.00 and can last 2 months), put on her food will not infect other cats in the household. It is very important that a cat that has her-pes be up to date on their shots to avoid health problems but the feline herpes is not contagious to other household pets or humans. We have found that Goldee likes friendly children of all ages and friendly dogs and we have found out that she does enjoy being in a multiple cat household so she can play and chase but Goldee wasn’t sure until the last few days if she was truly included (awww!). She loves to snuggle on your lap during the day, get scritches under the chin, and sleep in your arms at night. MOUSKIE is a real talker, he knows what he wants, and will ask for it. He’s vocal, friendly, loving, and fearless. Imagine this guy reaching for you with his paw and that face meowing at you for some love! Mouskie enjoys being a member of the family with chil-dren, cats, and dogs. He loves attention! Mouskie is a senior cat (10 yrs +) with lots of love still left to give, he acts and plays like a young cat so don’t let his age bother you! Mouskie enjoys both wet and dry cat food, treats, and is up to date on his shots with a clean bill of health from Altitude Veterinary Hospital.

GLINDA. “I am a sweet girl, very soft and wiggly, and super affec-tionate. I am a petite German Shepherd mix. I came to BDAR with 8 newborns at Halloween. They have all been adopted but I am still waiting for someone to pick me. Will it be you?”

FOSTER HOMES NEEDED!

If there is a dog featured in this newsletter that you want to foster, PLEASE CONTACT US! Many dogs just need a temporary place to go to be safe.

REMEMBER: ADOPT--

DON’T SHOP!If you’re wanting a special friend, please let us know what you are looking for. We will watch the shelters and alert you when we hear of one in need.

HAPPY. “I am a 3 year old aussie mix. I’m just a small fuzzy thing with a super wagging docked tail. I am a velcro dog and love to be close to my people. I do not like to share my people with oth-er dogs though I want to be the center of attention. I can handle cats and seem to be fine with kids. Make me your one and only and I’ll put you at the center of my universe!”

JENNY. “I’m a young and stocky hound mix. Maybe Foxhound, maybe Walker Coonhound. Who knows? But I do have a deep, rich tenor voice that I am happy to show off for you, especially if there is a kitty around. I should probably not be around kitties. Rumor is that I am a trained hunting dog but the folks at BDAR don’t know how to test that. I am learning how to live as a house pet. I am affectionate and gentle and I have a silly side. I will need continued education about house manners for awhile but I am smart and am catching on quickly. Please adopt me--I only need a soft place to lie my head.”

ZELIG. “I’m an adult male German Shepherd with unique color-ing. I was loved in my previous home and it shows. I have nice manners and enjoy being spoiled. I lost my home because I am afraid of children and despite two years of trying to work around it, I couldn’t live with my new baby sister. I love other dogs and I like to run and play. I have the sweetest baby face. I need a new lvoing home with no children please.”

NALA is a shy lady and she has been waiting awhile for a quiet home. She is a 7 year old Black Lab/Jack Russell mix and she has been spayed. She needs a tall fence and needs to be the only dog. Her owners turned her in because she was aggressive towards the new puppy.

ROXY is a beautiful female Pitbull Terrier. She is playful and nice and needs a loving home.

TACO is a six-year-old neutered male Chihuahua/Dachshund mix. He is housetrained and friendly. PIPPY is a very cute little four-year-old spayed female Boston Terrier/Chihuahua mix. She loves everyone and has been around children two years old and up. Lots of energy, very playful, likes other dogs. She needs a new family who will be patient and con-sistent with her on her potty training.

Sweet BALOO came to us as a stray and was nearly half fro-zen when he was found. Baloo is a 2-3 year old Terrier/Lab mix. He loves to go for walks, but his favorite thing in the world is to cuddle! This big baby wants nothing more than to curl up with you, or lay by your feet while you work. He has quickly stolen the hearts of all of the staff. We often bring him to the office during the days because of his calm and loving demeanor. Baloo would be an excellent family dog. Friendly DOJO knows no strangers! This young male Boxer mix loves people of all ages and gets along with cats as well as with most other dogs. DoJo was abandoned and we cannot com-prehend why anyone would want to let this dog go! He has so much personality, is friendly, and very sweet! Handsome DoJo would be an ideal companion! HONEY is as sweet as her name! This 4 year old female Mastiff/Lab mix came to us as a stray. She is very energetic, which might make her more suitable for a home with older children; her en-thusiasm may be a little overwhelming for small children! She also needs someone who can keep up with her and play with her. Honey would be best in a home without cats or other dogs. In a single dog household, sweet Honey would be able to get the love and attention she deserves!

Dog & Cat Shelter - Sheridan, WYContact: [email protected]

DOLLY is a four-year-old black pug mix, possibly purebred. She came into the Shelter very pregnant and raised her litter in a foster home. We actually wonder if she wasn’t a breeder in a puppy mill because, as her foster mom reports, Dolly has no man-ners and acts like she never was taught anything or even learned how to respond to praise or correction. When she came, she was very loving to “her” person but shy around strangers and took forever to warm up to men. We have been working with her and she has relaxed and learned to play and be comfortable around people and loves going for walks with just about anyone. Dolly is a jumper, not over fences but up on chairs and countertops. She gets along well with cats and most other dogs, but is not too fond of young children. You can’t help but like her after spend-ing some time with her, because she really is a happy, grinning character and just craves attention and affection. Dolly desper-ately wants a person to love so she will be well worth the effort put into her. If you remember our first set of photos of Dolly, taken when she returned to the Shelter after raising her puppies, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the new ones. She looks like a different dog!!! We give heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers who have worked so hard with her. MAX is a six-year-old Treeing Hound mix. Max was very shy and nervous around people and we believe he was hunted a lot but never got much attention or affection. Max has made a lot of progress and now really enjoys being petted and fussed over. He is very friendly and sweet once he trusts you. He gets along well with other dogs and pretty much just goes his own way. He would really like to get out of the Shelter.

[email protected] FARGO is a one year old Lab mix. He was originally saved from the euthanasia list at a kill shelter and is now needing a permanent home. He is neutered, current on shots, and kennel trained. He loves the water, loves retrieving toys, and snuggling. He gets along with most other dogs but does not like cats or kids. He will chase cats and his herding instinct has led him to nip his foster mom’s kids when running outside. He would do best in a calm home with a strong adult leader and no kids. He loves being outside so an out-doorsy, active couple would be a perfect match for this guy. I love this dog and he will only go to the perfect match for him!! I will not make any exceptions to kids because I do not want to set him up for failure. If whoever adopts him has kids visit, he will happily hang out in his kennel while kids are over, so please do not disregard him if you have relatives with kids that visit. Please email for more information.
