    EVOLUTION SERIES ETSI

Evolution SeriesThe ideal microwave solution for Ethernet, E1 and SDH connectivity.

Perfect for base-station backhaul in 2G, 3G, LTE and WiMAX networks.

One wireless pipe for both Ethernet and TDM traffic in a Split Mount or Indoor installation.

Flexible and scalable with built-in X-connect and a variety of configuration options from

single ended terminals to traffic nodes with multiple radio link directions. Managed by Nera

Networks NetMaster, a standard web-browser or a general SNMP manager. One platform for

all needs simplifies logistics and dramatically reduces life cycle cost.

    EVOLUTION SERIES ETSI

THE EVOLUTION SERIES PLATFORMA carrier grade platform that is scalable and flexible to meet the need for2G/3G/LTE/WiMAX-backhaul and high capacity Metro Ethernet or SDHconnectivity. The software core of the product allows flexible configurationchoices between the E1, Ethernet and SDH interfaces. Cross-connect androute protection of E1 is available as an embedded function.

Aggregation of Ethernet traffic with the built in layer-2 switch and SDHLCAS is used to combine traffic from several radios to allow a singlepipe Ethernet channel up to 622 Mb/s. Both Split-Mount and All Indoorsolutions are available with up to respectively 8 or 10 channels connectedto one antenna. Hitless protection switching, Co-channel operation withXPIC, Space Diversity Combining and strong Error Correction are utilised to

build highly reliable networks efficiently. A common ODU for all capacitiesenables easy upgrade from low capacity to high capacity without climbingtowers.

UNIVERSAL IFUThe baseband part of the terminal is based on one or several IFUs. TheUniversal IFU has plug-in units making the system very scalable andcapable of meeting the interface and configuration needs. Terminalconfigurations range from 1+0 or Hot StandBy (HSB) to 7+1 or traffic nodeswith up to four link directions. Interfaces include E1, E3, STM-1, STM-4,FE, GbE and Auxiliary interfaces. The Universal IFU can be configured toMETRO mode (SDH) or the Hybrid Ethernet and TDM mode XPAND.

ACCESS IFUThe Access IFUs for XPAND has fixed interfaces and supports capacitiesfrom 8 to 100 Mb/s. This capacity is flexibly shared between E1 andEthernet as needed. Non-protected and HSB-protected configurations arepossible. Systems using these units are over the air compatible with theUniversal IFU when configured consistently.

RADIO UNITSThe Transceiver units are frequency and data-rate agile. Each Transceivercan be used for all channels in a frequency band and for all capacities inboth the METRO and XPAND modes. The same XCVR is used both in ODUconfiguration with broadband diplexer and Long Haul configurationswhich features a low loss RF channel branching solution.

ODUFor non-protected and protected configurations, the ODU is eitherintegrated or remotely connected to the antenna (integrated solution for1+0, 1+1 and 2+0). A single coaxial cable is used to connect each ODU tothe IFU up to 300 m apart.

LONG HAUL BRANCHING SYSTEMThe long haul system has a low loss branching system where up to 10channels can be combined on one waveguide port. A dual polarisedsystem with XPIC and Space Diversity with IF combining is also featured. The terminal is either All Indoor with both I FUs and XCVRs in a 19 rack orSplit Mounted with the IFU indoor and the Branching and XCVR outdoor.

Evolution SeriesThe ideal microwave solution for Ethernet, E1 and SDH connectivity.Perfect for base-station backhaul in 2G, 3G, LTE and WiMAX networks.
