Long meter cables- the two-wire 4-20 mA HART® transmitter allows up to 3,000 ft between transmitter and display/PLC

For installation everywhere - the EVITA® OXY transmitter isintrinsically safe, approved by bothCENELEC and UL

Built-in auto calibration- a tilt-switch function initiates anautomatic calibration sequence whenthe sensor is tilted or turned over

How it worksThe EVITA® OXY dissolved oxygen meter operates onClark’s principle:

• To initiate measurement a polarization voltage is appliedbetween two electrodes. Gold is used as cathode anda silver wire as anode, both placed in an electrolyticsystem separated from the liquid by a gas permeablediaphragm.

• Oxygen molecules penetrating the diaphragm areattracted to the positively charged gold cathode.

• A small electric current is thereby establishedbetween the gold cathode and silver anode.

• The transmitter converts this current into a usable 4-20 mA signal.

Automatic cleaning- the self-cleaning ball float with

specially designed fins keeps the sensorclean for months - reducing

maintenance time to a minimum

High reliability and accuracy

- a prestressed, bonded diaphragm ensures predictable

permeability at changing temperatures and prevents

contamination of the electrolyte

Increased sensor life- an 18” silver wire is used to

make the surface area of the anode as large as

possible, increasing operating life to 2-3 years

Real diaphragmpuncture detection - the diaphragm is

constantly monitored and anyrupture or other source of

leakage is instantly detected

High accuracy and noise immunity- the 4-20 mA HART® transmitter is mounted directly behind the oxygen sensor and temperature sensor, ensuring high accuracy and noise immunity

Maintenance at a minimumPerhaps the greatest benefit obtained withthe EVITA® OXY sensor is that maintenanceis reduced to a minimum:

• We have perfected what we invented 20 years ago by adding four fins to themeter design – further improving theself-cleaning effect.

• There is no need for grinding stones, fresh water, chemicals etc.

• When cleaning is necessary after 2-3 months of operation in the aeration tank, all you need to do is wipe thesensor with a cloth.

Flexible communicationChoosing the right communicationprotocol for your equipment can bedifficult: Which protocol will meet the

requirements for the years to come?Danfoss has met this challenge by makingthe EVITA® OXY meter extremely flexible.

• You can choose the communication module that fits your needs today and change it later when new protocols are developed.

• Individual modules with differentcommunication protocols can be mounted in the USC 6000 signalconverter without any use of tools.

• The OXY 4100/4150 transmittercommunicates with either the USC 5000/6000 signal converter or a PLCvia HART® communication, usingonly two wires.

New ball float design- the special fins increase turbulence and keep the sensor clean for typically 2-3 months

Automatic cleaning - after three months of operationin an aeration tank the sensor isstill measuring accurately

Automatic calibrationThe EVITA® OXY is extremely easy to use. There is no need for special cables, no com-plicated diagrams to follow, and calibration isperformed automatically.

• Simply press a button and the system cali-brates itself within minutes. Alternatively, just tilt the transmitter: a tilt switch will initiate calibration.

• There is no need to calibrate the zero pointeither. The low-cost disposable OXY 1100sensor can be exchanged before zero-pointcalibration becomes necessary.

• The automatic calibration function ensuresthat EVITA® OXY remains as accurate as the day you installed it.

Oxygen profile control – a money saverThere can be large fluctuations in the oxygenconcentration anywhere in an aeration tank.By installing several oxygen meters in eachtank, the oxygen profile can be evened out, energy can be saved and the process becomesbetter tuned to fluctuations in the BOD load.

• The EVITA® OXY 4100/4150 transmitteris a cost-saving system for oxygen profile control. You can connect up to 15 trans-mitters to one PLC using only two wires and the HART® communication multidropmode to transmit oxygen concentrations.

Replacement in five minutesAll dissolved oxygen meters require regularsensor replacement. Danfoss has made thisprocess so simple that it can be performedin five minutes – with no mistakes possible.

• The EVITA® OXY monitors sensor life and alerts you the moment replacement is required.

• Simply unscrew the collar that holds the sensor in place and insert the new sensor. Spare sensors can be stored indefinitely without diminishing performance. It only starts to operate when connected to the transmitter.
