WHO? Welcome to the first edition of Evil Eye Club! Evil Eye Club is a sparkling new music and art initiative – ready to bring new and upcoming artists and bands to Amsterdam’s finest clubs and venues. The very first edition takes place in Winston Kingdom, in the heart of Amsterdam’s exciting city centre, near the Red Light District, Dam Square and Central Station. We picked this venue for our grand opening party because this venue (and hotel!) has always been a good place for new club nights, new band nights, new ideas and local partners. Their agenda not only contains DJ’s and jam nights, but has fresh new alternative bands every week and crazy indie dance nights in weekends. We’re a fan because Winston supports bands that didn’t get their breakthrough just yet, and take them one step further in the right direction. Evil Eye Club is happy to be working with these Winston Kingdom guys!

WHAT? It’s a simple recipe: new, upcoming international bands and local bands (from fuzzy guitars, psychedelica, indierock to female fronted punk and glamrock) on the stage, and a Mini Art Fair with work from local artists and illustrators on

the walls. Evil Eye Club wants to bring both disciplines together and wants to present local talent and good quality music, and give them a stage. Confirmed for the first edition: DEATHCRUSH (NO): this Norwegian female fronted punk band knows what to do on a stage: they get their big guitar riffs, screaming vocals and very catchy, melodic choruses out and get the riot started! Deathcrush played Incubate festival earlier this year and boy, that was one crazy show. Ready to do that all over again, at Evil Eye Club #1.

THE AFTERVEINS: We like to spot new local bands, and here’s one that really stood out. The Afterveins (Rotterdam, NL) combine fuzzy guitars, lovely melodies and clear, strong vocals to get these very fine indie tunes, comparable to The Feelies and Pavement. These young blokes are in the middle of a big tour through NL right now and just play as much as they can to get their name out there. They played Incubate,

Motel Mozaique, Melkweg & more. The perfect warm-up show for Deathcrush later on! MINI ART FAIR is happening as well. Evil Eye Club selected 16 Dutch artists and illustrators to make a unique one off print for the Mini Art Fair. All pieces of art are put together on a string of flags, and are presented separately as well. Please bid on the picture that you like, and if you have the highest offer, you can bring it home at the end of the evening! Artists who contributed to Evil Eye Club #1: Sasa Ostoja, Marc van der Holst, Remco Polman, Kim Ouweleen, Nicole Pedder, Niek Pronk, Aimée de Jongh, Floor van het Nederend, Father Futureback, Lennard Kok, Kim David Bots, Freshco Hello, Aart-Jan Venema, Kenny Rubenis, Wolf Maria Mulder and Jelle van Gosliga. The MINI ART FAIR is financed by crowdfunding platform VOORDEKUNST and was supported by VSB FONDS.
