1. Reflection
Our school plan’s purpose ‘to build stronger links in Hill Top Public School Community’ is successfully delivering a culture of high
expectations and community engagement. In 2017 we began our Positive Parent Partnership program (PPP) and have steadily
increased the number of parents participating in school events, feedback sessions and assisting with learning programs across the
school. Our PPP program is led by our school funded SLSO who is a parent and community member. Integral to supporting
opportunities for teachers to develop professionally we are working with our community of schools and broader school community
to access professional learning, develop professional networks and engage in current pedagogy around quality teaching practices.
2. Our school Practices:
Our evidence will show the introduction of our Positive Parent Partnership (PPP) program and the opportunities that
are provided for our parents and community to engage with our school.
Our evidence will demonstrate teachers engaging in professional learning through connections with other schools.
Student leadership opportunities are a progressive development throughout the school year and our evidence will
display a range of leadership experiences on offer to students.
Why are these practices important?
Building authentic community partnerships creates a culture of unity and direction in the school that places the students
of Hill Top PS at the forefront of all teaching and learning development throughout the school. Incorporating parents and
community as key stakeholders in educational experience for all students sets an expectation of shared responsibility,
decision making and educational achievement for every student as individual learners in our school.
3. Evidence and Data
The evidence collected comes from;
Community involvement through our PPP program
Teacher engagement in professional learning with local and area schools and links with other organisations
Student leadership opportunities
4. Analysis and Annotations
Annotation 6.1 – Leading – Positive Parent Partnerships.
Our Positive Parent Partnership program provides a range of opportunities for our community to become involved in the school. The
program supports the implementation of Multilit with targeted students from stages one, two and three. Our parents involved in the
program are provided with training in Multlit and we currently have ---- students receiving additional learning support through this
program. Our parents are involved in many different facets of the school, including a parent run canteen, our community garden (also
supported by the local Mens Shed group) and representation at local community events. Our local businesses (BDCU bank, Hill Top
Pizza, and real estate) support and fund our breakfast club program that is run through our PPP program. Our evidence shows our
parents and community working hard and engaging in a range of school programs.
Annotation- 6.2 Leading – At Hill Top PS students are provided with opportunity to develop leadership skills under our PBL framework.
Our student leadership team is structured around our PBL groups that incorporate social skill building and sport houses. In 2017 we
have reintroduced the peer support program, providing all year 6 students with leadership roles. Our evidence shows the progression
of students engaging in leadership development throughout the school year.

As a springboard into setting strong foundations for building knowledge and skills around quality teaching practices we effectively
introduced a networked schools approach to professional development. Beginning in 2016 we have visited Rosemeadow PS and
Ambarvale PS to engage with staff and leaders around LISC, teacher/peer feedback, quality lesson structures and improving parent
engagement in our school. This led to a teacher exchange with Ambarvale PS, our current Instructional Leader, staff engaging in L3
training through Ambarvale PS and Appin PS. In addition , through our involvement in the Bump it Up reform, networks and
opportunities to connect professional learning with our COS school group has been strengthened with staff participating in Focus on
reading workshops, accreditation sessions and recently a plan to introduce spirals of learning across our COS schools being
strategically developed.

As a small semi- rural community school we aim to engage highly with Hill Top local businesses as a reciprocal alliance in supporting
our local community. Through this approach, we provide facilities for local groups to run programs such as Karate and boot camp
along with parent groups using our community room to meet and develop friendships themselves. Our local businesses, BDCU
Alliance bank, Hill Top Pizzeria, and Cameron’s real estate actively support and fund our breakfast club program that is run through
our PPP program. Supporting indigenous education for all students has been an ongoing project as well and has been funded by
P&C in the past and a grant from the Veolia Mulwaree trust. Phase 1 of our school sensory garden and landscape has been
completed. Our evidence are photographs of these initiatives in our school. n 2018, grant applications will be made to fund the last
phase of the playscape and to also build on the sustainability garden established to date.
5 .Judgement
In the element Leadership we are delivering. Our evidence shows
Parents and community members have opportunities to engage in a range of school events
We network with other schools and educational providers to support programs across the school
Our school provides opportunities for students to develop their leadership skills.
6.Plan for the Future
Build upon opportunities for staff and community to develop connections
Expand PPP program to incorporate strategically planned opportunities to contribute to school self analysis and decision
making in a sequenced and timely manner.
Combine PPP with P&C and provide scheduled in servicing on educational practices and parenting for volunteers and
parents in the community to enhance the learning culture in our school.

TPL schools visit
Wednesday 7/9/16
Schedule:
1. Arrive Rosemeadow Public school 8:45am
Catherine Flamos will talk us through Rosemeadow’s journey as an Early action for
success school and take us through some classrooms. Ask as many questions about
anything at all that you want to find out about. Catherine has been a HAT (highly
accomplished Teacher), AP, IL (instructional leader), Rel. Principal and has recently
achieved a substantive DP position. She has been involved in many schools and in
particular with leadership groups and networks.
Finish at Rosemeadow approx. 10:30am
2. Coffee Break at Macdonalds Rosemeadow
3. 11:15 Arrive at Ambarvale PS
We will be met by Courtney who is an AP at Ambarvale. She is going to take us
through a Kinder and stage one class, and a stage 2 class to sit in on some
lessons. This will be a bit like a IR visit without all the formal stuff, you can take
notes of evidence about success criteria or anything else you note that you
might like to know more about or bring back for discussion. You can talk to the
kids and ask questions like: What are you learning today? How do you know if
you are doing a good job? How do you get help if you need it?
They are going to show us a support unit class, I think it’s an autism class, if the
kids in the class are having an ok day, we will have to determine this on the
actual day and may only 2 go in, but they will let us know on the day about this
one.
We should finish around 1 pm.
4. We can then stop for lunch and debrief/talk and plan TPL for staff, at
Macarthur square, and then head back to school. We need to arrive back at
school by 3pm for the aspect lady talk.
TRAVEL: Sarah and I are going to travel together from Bargo, Happy for Claire and
Robyn to meet us at Bargo and travel with us or if it’s easier to stay on the highway to
meet us at Rosemeadow PS.
Addresses:
Rosemeadow PS - 64 Anthony Drive, Rosemeadow
Ambarvale PS - Copperfield Drive, Ambarvale
