THANK YOU 2. POP ON YOUR PULLOVERSYou don’t need to buy a sweater if you don’t want to. Swap, borrow or bling up an old one. Trees, tinsel, snowmen, baubles, fairy lights – nothing’s out of bounds. Except good taste. Get everyone together with pompoms on. Share your photos and tag them #christmasjumperday

1. SPREAD THE CHEER THIS YEAR This is what it’s all for. If you don’t donate you’re just wearing a daft jumper for the day and that’s just not quite the same. Collect £2 for every festive knit (and from the bah-humbugs too if you can). We’ve packed in as many ideas as we can to help you raise a little extra, because the more you collect the more you’ll be making a difference for children around the world.

3. RAISE MONEY

We’re delighted you’ve signed up to help make this year’s Christmas Jumper Day the biggest, silliest, woolliest event yet.

This pack is full of ideas to help you plan your day and have fun in your GlitzyTinselKnits. Every jumper – and every pound raised – really can help save children’s lives.

Here’s how to get started.

We need your help to get everyone wearing their daftest and most wonderful woollies.

• Put up the posters from your pack.

• Share our emails or send a calendar invite to make sure Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day is in their diary for Friday 15 December

• Post about the day on social media using #christmasjumperday

• If you’re taking part at work, make sure to send regular reminders out to all staff or share our emails

Joseph* lives with his mum in Uganda. They fled conflict in South Sudan after his uncle was killed. Then Joseph got seriously ill with pneumonia.

His fever, cough and chest pain got so bad in the night that his mum was scared for his life. She brought him to a Save the Children clinic, where our nurse was able to give him the intravenous injection of antibiotics he needed.

There are more than 780,000 South Sudanese refugees in Uganda and

over half of them are children. Save the Children’s Emergency Health Unit is treating children here for some of the biggest child killers in the world, like pneumonia, malaria, respiratory infections and diarrhoea. We’re also making sure children have their vaccines for diseases like polio and measles.

Your support means we can get these simple but life-saving treatments to more children like Joseph.

*Name changed to protect identity.

Whisnu, 12, has used a wheelchair since 2013. He got bone tuberculosis, which caused the bones in his knees to fuse so he couldn’t walk any more. We work with his family to make sure he isn’t left behind because of his disability. We helped him get a place in school, and we support his mum, who looks after him, his three brothers and one sister.

“[Before], if I needed to go out, Mum would carry me on her back. It’s better now [that I have the wheelchair]. I can move it forward, backward, and turn it. I sit on it in the classroom.

“Mum helps me put on my uniform and shoes. I get onto my wheelchair and cross the street to school. What makes

me happy is that I have many friends. The teachers are nice.

“I like science. I can play a computer. I want to be a computer expert.”

You can help children like Whisnu overcome the obstacles they face and achieve their dreams.

By raising money this Christmas Jumper Day, you, your colleagues, family and friends will be helping give children a brighter future.

Turn your day into one big festive fun-fest to raise life-saving funds. We’ve included some of the best ideas you sent us here – so keep sharing!

WOOLLY WONDERFUL FUNDRAISING IDEAS

BAUBLEBELLS THE BOSSSponsor the boss to wear a silly sweater. Choose two outrageous jumpers and display them in advance with collection jars – the one with the most donations wins. Or spring it on them last minute and let people add an extra decoration to the boss’s jumper in exchange for a donation and watch how ridiculous it gets.

NAFFRAFFGet ready for the naffest raffle in town. Ask everyone to donate their unwanted gifts from last year, or a nice fresh sprout sandwich, and sell tickets to win. Someone else’s trash could be your new found treasure.

FESTIVE FORGETFULSDon’t let colleagues get left out of the jumper jollies because of a memory lapse (or cynical streak). Collect donations for HumbugGrumblePants stickers instead – or fashion jumpers out of what’s in the office on the day – think hole-punch snow and Christmas-card collages. Don’t forget you can print our templates too! christmasjumperday.org/fundraising-pack

MAKE-AND-BAKE SALETick a few things off your Christmas shopping list with this twist on the classic bake sale. Put a call out for crafts and gifts as well as bakes and you’ll raise more life-saving donations. Find craft ideas and recipes for ball-of-yarn cupcakes and ginger jumper cake at christmasjumperday.org/fundraising-pack

CAN’T BE BOTHERED TO BAKE? Get everyone to bring in shop-bought goodies instead, mix it up with a cheese board or order in a pizza and sell slices for donations.
