The reclamation of post-consumer PET bottles and containers into RPET resin and related operations are highly desired by society today. In addition to conserving energy and natural resources, RPET offers great cost value over virgin materials. This pricing value carries forward beyond our manufacturing customers to the retail customer who would, in turn, pay higher prices for these packaged products if not for the RPET initiative.

Evergreen conducts strict quality control. Every super sack or corrugated box receives an ID number for traceability. Each package is sampled and tested before shipment. Our RPET flake products are tested for contaminants such as wood, paper, polypropylene, glass, metal, and other contaminants to determine the parts per million (PPM) of contamination. A representative sample is also baked to determine parts per million of low melting polymers, PVC, and barrier resins such as nylon, commonly used in some packaging. Our pellet products are checked for physical properties such as Intrinsic Viscosity (I.V.) and color (L* a* b*). A Certificate of Analysis (CoA) is available for our customers on request. Evergreen carefully packages our quality products in either super sacks or large corrugated boxes with polyethylene (PE) liners and the appropriate labeling to assure a safe and secure delivery. Some products are available via bulk container transportation.

What’s NEW at Evergreen?Evergreen re-engineered its sort process and installed additional processing capacity throughout 2011. With this new capacity, Evergreen is prepared to serve an ever changing and more demanding market which requires sustainable RPET. Our investments will allow Evergreen to process more pounds of curbside bales at a higher quality level than in any other time in our history. These improvements will provide Evergreen the ability to meet the most stringent quality requirements in the industry.

NOW INTRODUCING Evergreen Plastics is now offering a “Non-Objection-Letter” (NOL) Flake in addition to its NOL Pellet.

Founded in 1998, Evergreen Plastics® is a “State of the Art” PET bottle recycling operation, which was estab-lished to meet both the internal demands of Polychem Corporation as well as the external needs of the pack-aging industry. Evergreen is one of the nation’s largest Polyester (PET) bottle recyclers focused on process-ing curbside bales consisting of water and soft drink bottles, juice bottles, and a wide variety of other food packaging containers. This recycled PET (known as RPET) is used in new useful applications, again offering many benefits to both the industry and consumers as this material is turned into a variety of sustainable prod-ucts. Evergreen processes over 100 Million pounds of reclaimed PET annually and has a history of consistent growth, capital investment, and success. From Ever-green’s inception, the goal has been unique in focusing on Post-Consumer (PC) curbside bottles sourced mainly from Municipal Recycling Facilities (MRF). Today, curb-side PET bottle bales are still the largest source of our

Evergreen has capacity to produce approxi-mately 50 million pounds per year of Post-Consumer (PC) RPET. Our NOL-FDA pellet

and flake are manufactured for use as RPET resin in food packaging, as defined by the

FDA, under the following conditions of use:

A- High temperature heat-sterilized (e.g., over 212 deg. F)B- Boiling water sterilized C- Hot filled or pasteurized above 150 deg. F D- Hot filled or pasteurized below 150 deg. F E- Room temperature filled and stored (no thermal treatment in the container)F- Refrigerated storage (no thermal treatment in the container)G- Frozen storage (no thermal treatment in the container) H- Frozen or refrigerated storage: Ready-prepared foods intend to be reheated in container at time of use: 1. Evergreen’s Non-Objection-Letter (NOL) flake and pellet produces an end product that fulfills the requirements for direct food contact in accordance with applicable categories as specified by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
