Why fluid resistance?Fluid resistance provides the most realistic replication of outdoor riding. It’s simple with fluid: Want to spin to warm up? Put it in an easy gear and spin. Ready to work hard? Why use medical-grade silicone?Heat is a trainer’s enemy. When some trainers heat up the resistance level can decrease dramatically. Kinetic uses thermodynamically neutral medical-grade silicone inside our fluid resistance units. It’s not affected by temperature so the resistance curve remains the same throughout a workout. Kinetic also uses 80 cooling fins on the outside of the resistance unit to provide the lowest operating temperature of any fluid trainer. Unlike other trainer brands, there is NO resistance fade at the end of a workout.

Power calibration and consistency Precision manufacturing makes each Kinetic fluid resistance unit accurate and consistent. Kinetic has fined tuned the exact amount of silicone needed to replicate the resistance curve of an outdoor ride. Our precise power calibration mimics the resistance of riding on a 1% grade road.

repeatable, measurable power Precise power calibration, superior heat management and precision manufacturing give Kinetic the ability to accurately measure power output based on the RPMs of the resistance unit. This ensures consistent resistance from workout to workout and year to year. The Kinetic inRide is our next-generation power computer. The system uses the new Bluetooth Smart™ communication protocol found in the Apple iPhone 4S & 5 and iPad 3 and iPod Touch 5 to pair a heart rate monitor and power sensor pod with the Kinetic inRide iPhone App to measure wattage with any Kinetic fluid trainer.

Our incredibly accurate fluid trainer power curve allows precise wattage readings at exact speeds as measured indoors on a Kinetic fluid trainer. Firmware in the inRide Sensor Pod measures speed and cadence at the tire and translates speed data to wattage with a simple equation. Power and heart rate is displayed on the paired iPhone. Post-workout file sharing allows you to upload training data to your favorite web site or email files to a remote coach.

About Waterproofing - The IPX Scale

All of our products undergo rigorous testing at the world-respected Engineering Research Centre at Imperial College, London, who certify the equipment.

We use the industry standard IEC 60529 which is recognized around the world and makes sure that our products can be guaranteed against a set scale.

Our Submersible Range is all guaranteed to IPX8, which means continuous immersion under conditions of the manufacturer’s choice. Imperial’s testing is to the equivalent of 5m/15ft for 1 hour.

Our special Microphone/Insulin Pump & Connected Electronics cases are guaranteed to IPX7, which means that they’re OK for temporary immersion of up to 1m/3ft depth as long as you bring them straight back up to the surface.

Our Stormproof range of roll-seal bags is all tested to IPX6, which means as waterproof as you can get without actually immersing the bags underwater. Fire-hose proof!

Our Stormproof iPod case is the only exception, and it’s guaranteed to IPX3. Because it has a hole in it for your headphones, it protects against rain falling on it at up to 60 degrees angle, but there’s a small chance that if you hold the case upside-down in hard rain, you might get a drop or two seeping in.
