    Just like every other Ukrainian organization, UNWLA Philadelphia RegionalCouncil ( CYA ) needs money.So we decided to organize a fundraiser - print a cookbook.

    This will be a cookbook in English, with sections for contemporary recipes aswell as traditional Ukrainian recipes (pyrohy, kuttia, babka, tort, pliatsok,holubtsi, uzvar, etc.). One section will be just recipes for "Svyata Vechera"and another section for the "Easter Basket."Regular sections will be: appetizers, soups & salads, meats, fish & seafood,sides, pasta, cakes, cookies & desserts, and miscellaneous.Cookbook will be professionally printed.

    Following previous successful Ukrainian Days advocacy programs in ournations capital, the Ukrainian National Information Service (UNIS) is once

    again organizing Ukrainian Days in Washington, DC onWednesday andThursday, April 6-7, 2011.The intent of Ukrainian Days is to promotethe concerns of the Ukrainian American community, in particular as itregards the current backsliding of democratic principles in Ukraine.Ukrainian Days is also used as vehicle to establish better relations with our

    representatives in Congress, especially the large number of new Members ofCongress that were elected in the November 2010 elections. Briefing paperson various topics will be supplied to all the participants of Ukrainian Daysby the Ukrainian National Information Service (UNIS).The Ukrainian Days agenda will consist of several aspects. A morning

    briefing session will be held on the first day with American governmentofficials and representatives of non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Ofparticular interest will be a discussion about the topics of concern to thecommunity, including: increased U.S. foreign assistance to Ukraine; NATOenlargement; democratic freedoms in Ukraine; continued advocacy of theUkrainian Genocide of 1932-1933; as well as, the overall context of theU.S.-Ukrainian strategic partnership. A question-and-answer session willfollow.Throughout the two day event, participants of Ukrainian Days will meetwith their respective members of the House of Representatives and Senatein order to communicate to them the issues that concern the UkrainianAmerican community and establish closer communications with their offices.Such relations and contact with the Members of Congress will allow theUkrainian community to advocate issues of concern and work moreeffectively in the future.Participants of Ukrainian Days will also be afforded an opportunity tointeract with members of the Congressional Ukrainian Caucus (CUC) in abreakfast meeting. The CUC is an officially registered group within the U.S.House of Representatives that is interested in enhancing relations betweenUkraine and the United States. Evening receptions are also being planned fortheUkrainian Days participants to have a chance to acquaint themselves

    We are pleased to announce that "Kobzarska Sich" Bandura Camp will beheld from August 6-20, 2011, at "All Saints" Ukrainian Orthodox Camp inEmlenton, PA, with the following schedule:Bandura Course: August 6-20.Junior Bandura Workshop: August 6-13.

    Ukrainian Sacred Music Workshop: August 10-13.Ukrainian Vocal Workshop: August 14-20.This year's music director will be Oleh Mahlay. As former Artistic Directorand Conductor of the Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus, along with many years at"Kobzarska Sich" as Music Director, Conductor, and Instructor, MaestroMahlay will bring a wealth of experience to our camp.Joining him on the staff of the Bandura Course and Junior BanduraWorkshop will be Olya Herasymenko, Andrij Birko, Irene Kytasty-Kuzma,Irene Zawadiwsky, Oleksander Petliura, and Sara Cholyway.
