Events at MTF STU

AWARDS

Scientists and Professors of the Year 2013

The Rector of the STU - Robert Redhammer presented awards on Friday 6th December 2013 at the Mikulas concert.

A concert followed by a group called Technik.

The following were awarded:

Scientist of the Year – Prof. RNDr. Jozef Širáò, DrSc from the department of Mathematics and Descriptive Geometry, faculty of Civil Engineering of the STU

Young Scientific worker - Ing. Ján Rimarèík, PhD from the Institute of Physical Chemistry and Chemical Physics, Faculty of Chemical and Food Technology

Professors of the Year 2013 were awarded to:

Prof. ING. Ivan Baláž, PhD from the Department of Metallic and Wooden constructions

Prof. Ing. Miroslav Bošanský, PhD from the department of Traffic Technology and Constructions

Prof. Ing. Ján Labuda, DrSc. director and professor from the Institute of Analytical Chemistry, Faculty of Chemical and Food Technology

EVENTS

VW Slovakia presentation at the MTF STU

On the 21st November 2013, a presentation of Volkswagen Slovakia took place at the MTF STU. This offered last year students the potential of employment in the automotive industry. The head of Manufacturing Technology - Ing. T. Palašèin gave an engaging presentation entitled “Manufacturing flow at Volkswagen Slovakia”. Mrs. Mgr. Petruláková presented options and areas where the company can offer students trainee programs and internships leading up to the elaboration of theses.

EVENTS

Excursion to Kia Motors Slovakia

On Wednesday the 20th November 2013, students went on an excursion to the Institute of Industrial Engineering and Management at Kia Motors Slovakia Zilina. The students became familiar with the logistic processes accompanying the production of Kia (Kia cee'd, cee'd_sw, pro_cee'd, Sportage and Venga), they visited the welding and assembly floors, plus they had the opportunity to see a product finalised - from skeleton to the finished car.

We want to thank PR Representatives for their helpfulness, willingness to organize the excursion and patience in answering curious questions from the students.

Excursion to Volkswagen SlovakiaOn the 4th December 2013 an excursion to Volkswagen Slovakia was held for students and staff of UPIM , where they were introduced to the concept of production cars that are made on the Bratislava production line. Namely the Volkswagen Touareg, Audi Q7, Volkswagen up!, Skoda Citigo and SEAT Mii. The participants visited the weld and assembly hall in the production series New Small Family, saw units and modules entering the production process and visited the training centre for logistics, where they saw how employees are prepared to work on the assembly as logisticians.

We want to thank the department of human resources and communications and the logistics department for giving their time to our students and colleagues as well as for their high level of professionalism and expertise.

Lecture by doc. Rosina from Matador Holding a.s.On the 27th November 2013 on the premises of the Èabelka lecture hall at the MTF STU, a lecture by doc. Ing . Štefan Rosina, PhD. - Chairman of Matador Holding a.s. took place. The lecture was held in collaboration with Junior Chamber International - Slovakia in the series "The idea turned into a success." Doc. Rosina presented the lecture called "Matador - innovative company". Due to his many years of practical experience, the lecture was very interesting. Afterward, students of the faculty were offered the opportunity to participate in practice within the following two areas :

PRESS TOOL

?Offer for students who are studying or enjoy solving problems in forming materials and?want to learn how to assess tools to make minor design suggestions for the tool company in Vráble

WELDING

?Offer for students, that can give a detailed procedural description of CO2 welding and spot welding in order to create a standard catalogue of used welding parameters in the Vráble company.

After the lecture, a discussion followed and offers of trainee programs were presented to technology and management students. Dies iovis occurssus (XXXV)

On the 5th of December 2013 Dies iovis occurssus (XXXV) was lectured by PhDr. Milan Vároš about the sad fate of works of art that have permanently left Slovakia.

The Academic Senate held a meeting with the academic community

On the 4th of December 2013, in the auditorium of Prof. Èabelka, a meeting of members from the MTF STU Academic Senate (AS) with members from the MTF STU academic community took place.

The Chairman of the MTF STU AS - Prof. Èambál at the beginning welcomed all the participants and informed them of the reasons for calling the meeting and its agenda. The key points were the presentations of reports on the activities of the MTF STU AS in 2012 (from the Law Act about Higher Education, regarding the duty of the faculty’s AS, which has to report once a year to the faculty’s academic community about its activities). A discussion followed about current issues of the MTF STU and a plan of AS MTF STU’s activities for the following period.

In the discussion, attention was especially aimed at the changes which in 2013 significantly affected the activities of the MTF STU (the Law on Higher Education, Study schedules, the STU’s new statute and the MTF STU’s organizational procedures, commencement of the University’s science park, etc.) and the most important "events" expected in 2014 (election of a candidate for the Dean of the MTF STU, elections of AS MTF STU and a comprehensive accreditation).

During the end, Prof. Èambál thanked members of the MTF STU AS for their active work on behalf of the MTF STU and gave thanks to all who attended the meeting.

Cooperation with the practice of the MTF STU in the media

Development of tools and the building of a faculty peer environment for economic practice is based on a long-term objective of the MTF STU in order to increase the degree of responsibility for the transfer of knowledge into practice. Tools for developing innovative forms for the transfer of research, development and education results, determine the benefits of the cognitive and transformation processes at the faculty. These tools and current activities were raised in interviews with the leadership of the faculty and selected staff. The event will be re-broadcast on the following dates: 26.11., 03.12, 10.12, and 17.12.2013 at 8:20 am., 3.45 pm and 8:20 pm.

The President of the Slovak Republic appointed new professors

The following new professors from the STU were appointed by the President on Tuesday 26th November:

Prof. Ing. Pavel Alexy, PhD. - in the field of Macromolecular Substances Technology (Faculty of Chemical and Food Technology STU)

- in the field of Industrial Engineering (Materials Science and technology STU in Trnava)

Prof. Ing. Pavol Švec, Csc. - in the field of Engineering Technology and Materials (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering STU)

Prof. Ing. Stanislav Unèík, PhD. - in the field of Construction, (Faculty of Civil Engineering STU)

Staff training for the automated testing of studentsOn the 5th of December 2013 in room T – 23 on Bottova Street, pavilion T, staff training about the automated testing of students took place. Training is a part of the project

“Implementation of an internal quality assurance system in education”, ITMS code 26110230042 on the basis of the Operational Programme Education funded by the European Social Fund.

“Modern education for the knowledge society / Project co-financed from EU sources”

A new product called Sancho has been introduced in Trnava, this allows the scanning of tests and their evaluation in the Academic Information System.

Product presentation of Sancho was introduced by company representatives of IS4U - Jiri Rybièka, Jan Dvorak and Martin Tyllich – the company is oriented to design, construction and operation of information systems and applications, and is also the supplier of the information system at the MTF.
