ABOUT

At the heart of Newcastle Helix, a new urban quarter in the centre of Newcastle, The Core has become a flagship location for science and technology, a thriving environment for business and commerce.

A theme of Digitally Enabled Urban Sustainability runs throughout the building and alongside nationally significant academic and industry research partnerships, a cultural programme, delivered by Creative Space Management, brings to light the vital role of science in Future Cities.



THE CORE: VENUE HIRE

Level One (ground floor) offers an open-plan contemporary event and networking space for private and public occasions. A fully glazed façade allows natural light into the space and French doors, leading to a grassed public square, bring a fresh atmosphere. Free Wi-Fi is offered to all delegates, A/V equipment is provided at no additional fee, and with no fixed furniture, the layout is flexible and suitable for exhibitions, lectures, discussion forums, workshops and celebrations.

The Core is able to offer a variety of layouts and has a selection of moveable contemporary furnishings. Below are the maximum capacities for possible layouts.

CATERING

At The Core we have strong relationships with local caterers Pink Lane Bakery and Boldon Farmhouse Pantry. Both companies cater for any dietary requirements. Please let us know if you have any delegates attending events with specific dietary needs.

We can also work with caterers to adjust menus where possible, please contact a member of the team to discuss this.

POP-UPS

For larger events, we have a variety of caterers who can literally pop-up and cater for your event. From pizzas from a wood-burning stove to barbequed meats or a selection of unusual salads.

Recent pop-ups include; Scream for Pizza, Beacon Burgers, Mivesi Indian and Bangladeshi Street Food, Sghetti Monster, Chucho’s Tacos, The French Pop-Up, Waffle co. and Fat Hippo!

BOOKING TERMS AND CONDITIONS

ROOM AND EQUIPMENTThe event space is available to hire between 0830 and 1730 Monday to Friday. For out of hours bookings please contact a member of The Core team to discuss availability and cost. Please note this booking is for the hours stated only. Should your event run on longer you will be subject to a £150 +VAT per hour (or part thereof) charge. The hirer is responsible for all equipment during the period of the booking and for all the activities of the users of the room during the period of the booking. The Core holds no responsibility for the loss of any property during the period of the booking.

HEALTH AND SAFETYThe hirer is responsible for the registration of all users of the room during the period of the booking in accordance with Health and Safety Regulations. In the event of a fire or other emergency, the hirer is responsible for the safe exit of the users of the room during the period of the booking along the designated escape route. A full briefing will be provided to the named contact on the day of the event. In accordance with our Health and Safety procedures, you must report all accidents so they can be recorded as per your policy and Creative Space Management’s policy.

CAR PARKThe Newcastle Helix site has 7 car parking bays reserved for visitors on a first come, first served basis. We can book you up to 4 bays maximum for your event (availability allowing) as long as names are provided. This is best managed by the event coordinator.

CANCELLATIONSAll cancellations must be made in writing and sent to [email protected]. If cancellation occurs within five working days of the booking, 50% of the full charge will be payable. Cancellations before this time will qualify for a full refund. Orders, alterations and cancellations to catering requirements must be put in writing to a member of The Core team no less than five working days before the date of booking.

OTHERThe Core is used as a workplace as well as an event venue. Please be courteous and respectful to other people working and using our facilities. An evaluation form will be sent to the event organiser after the event. This is to help us improve our service. If at any time during the event, you are not totally satisfied with the service you receive from The Core please notify The Core team immediately and we will do our best to assist you. Please state when booking the address to be displayed on the invoice. If you require a purchase order number to be displayed please provide this information.
