The Threepenny Opera plays through November 12 in the Jaeb Theater at the Straz Center where Jobsite is resident theater company. Written in the 1930s by Bertolt Brecht, Elizabeth Hauptmann, and Kurt Weill, The Threepenny Opera paved the way for such gritty, glamorous hits like Chicago and Cabaret. Ahead of its time, and featuring catchy jazz tunes and a cast of colorful, questionable characters, The Threepenny Opera is not an opera at all but a piece de resistence of subversive musical theater about the high stakes of the low life. Fans of acts like Amanda Palmer, Danny Elfman, and the Tiger Lillies will want to see where their inspiration came from. The Threepenny Opera is directed by David M. Rush and Fornuto to Discuss Florida’s Laws around estoppel Certificate Fees In the “Ask the Experts” section of the September/October 2017 issue of Common Ground Magazine, Paul Rush and Claudette Fornuto of Trenam Law provided clarity on Florida’s updated laws around estoppel certificate fees as of July 1 under Senate Bill 398. The new rule states that the maximum estoppel certificate fee that can be charged is $250, and an additional $150 can be charged if the owner is delinquent paying assess- ments. Moving forward, these fee caps will be reevaluated by the Department of Business and Professional Regulation every five years based on increases in the consumer price index. The new rule also mandates that if the estoppel certificate is not delivered within 10 business days after receipt of the written request, the association is not allowed to charge a fee. Additionally, if the transaction does not close, then the owner of the estoppel certificate is entitled to a refund within 30 days of the written request. Paul joined Trenam law firm in 2014 and is an associate in the Real Estate and Lending Transactions Practice Group. His practice focuses primarily on real property transactions and investments, banking, lending and finance, acquisition, development, leasing, and the sale of commercial properties. Claudette Fornuto joined the Trenam law firm in 2013 as an associate and practices in the firm's Real Estate and Lending Transactions and Commercial Litigation Groups. Prior to joining the firm, Claudette clerked for the Sixth Judicial Circuit of Florida and served as a family law volunteer legal intern for Gulfcoast Legal Services. In addition, Claudette worked in the private sector as a manager at New York Life Retirement Plan Services, an administrator of Taft-Hartley and ERISA regulated plans. Paul Rush Claudette Fornuto Trenam Law Joins Keep Pinellas Beautiful for Post-irma Cleanup Trenam Law participated in an afternoon of service in conjunction with Keep Pinellas Beautiful to help clean up Gandy Beach in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma on Wednesday, September 27. Throughout the afternoon, attorneys, management and staff from Trenam Law joined the local conservation group to aid in clearing debris and litter from the coastline. Efforts also supported the annual International Coastal Cleanup Initiative by the Ocean Conservancy, which aims to gather data on garbage collected to provide insight on ways to improve ocean and beach preservation moving forward. “It was truly an honor for our team to work together in this effort as a step toward restoring our beautiful city after Hurricane Irma, and we were especially grateful to the team at Keep Pinellas Beautiful for allowing us the opportunity to work with them,” said Marie Tomassi, managing shareholder with Trenam Law. “Our firm has a long-lasting commitment to the continued improvement of our community, which made it all the more rewarding to have the chance to come together and help restore Gandy Beach in the aftermath of Irma.” In the wake of Hurricane Irma, local beaches were subject to large concentrations of debris and waste. This prompted the response by Trenam Law attorneys and staff to team up and dedicate hours of service to help continued restoration following the natural disaster. In partnering with Keep Pinellas Beautiful, all trash collected by Trenam volunteers was counted for inclusion in a global assessment as part of the Ocean Conservancy’s annual International Coastal Cleanup. Last year’s International Coastal Cleanup yielded nearly 2 million cigarette butts, more than 1.5 million plastic beverage bottles and approximately 520,000 plastic grocery bags. Once this year’s trash collection is analyzed, Keep Pinellas Beautiful will provide data to assess the trash’s impact on the local environment, and prevention strategies for future trash build-up. student dancers from across the University community. All performances begin at 8 p.m. in Falk Theatre, located at 428W. Kennedy. Blvd.

Always a popular event on campus, the Dance Happening will feature more than 70 student dancers from all sectorsof the University community presenting original choreography, many for the first time at UT.

“We had a large group of seniors graduate last year, so the majority of our choreographers are new to this experience,”said Susannah LeMarquand, dance program director, who organizes the annual event. “It is an exciting time for them, and we are looking forward to seeing their artistic voice come to life.” Students have crafted new choreography in stylesranging from hip hop to contemporary, with themes covering a diverse range of issues, from sociopolitical commentaryto a celebration of life’s victories.

“The Dance Happening is a transformative experience for many of our students, both choreographers and dancers,”said LeMarquand. “They work together to bring an abstract concept into reality on the stage. Magic happens!”

The Dance Happening is free and open to the public, but arrive early for the best seats. For more information, call (813) 257-3745.

International Superstar André Rieu to Performat Amalie Arena on November 1

André Rieu is scheduled to perform on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 in Tampa at the Amalie Arena at 8:00 p.m. André Rieu is quite simply a musical phenomenon like no other, a true King of Romance, having sold a massive 40 million

CDs and DVDs and notched 30 No. 1 chart positions worldwide. Along with his 60-piece Johann Strauss Orchestra (the largestprivate orchestra in the world), André has created a global revival in waltz music, staging spectacular extravaganzas which aresecond to none. Having received over 490 Platinum Awards, three Classical Brit Awards for “Album of the Year” and billionsof YouTube views, André is one of the biggest solo male touring artists in the world. Each year his passionate live shows attractmore than 600,000 fans and outsell mega artists such as Coldplay, AC/DC and Bruce Springsteen.

“My concerts are about joy and love!” says André Rieu. “We should make decisions in our lives with our hearts, not our heads.People often ask me ‘how do you choose your program?’ – the answer is: with my heart. I love Johann Strauss but I am alsofascinated by Andrew Lloyd Webber or Bruce Springsteen. We should stop limiting ourselves with categories and boundaries –not just in terms of music but in our lives in general” – says André Rieu.

On stage André’s incredible musical prowess, passion and charisma make for a magical spectacle. His romantic and fun showsare the only ones where people regularly jump to their feet and dance in the aisles. It’s not uncommon to see devoted American

fans laughing, weeping, clapping, dancing and embracing when they listen to the beautiful waltzes, film scores, spirituals, musicals, folk songs and marches and André’sprecious Stradivarius violin from 1732; his shows are a perfect mix of thrilling, romantic, festive and emotional melodies combined with surprises, balloons, beautifulsoloists and of course André’s great sense of humor.

Known to millions around the world as the “King of the Waltz” André is also a true “King of Romance”. He has been married for over 40 years and lives with hiswife Marjorie in a romantic castle, built in 1492 in his hometown of Maastricht/Netherlands. The couple has two sons and five grandchildren.
