Rush and Fornuto to Discuss Florida’sLaws around estoppelCertificate Fees

In the “Ask the Experts” section of theSeptember/October 2017 issue of CommonGround Magazine, Paul Rush and ClaudetteFornuto of Trenam Law provided clarity onFlorida’s updated laws around estoppelcertificate fees as of July 1 under Senate Bill398. The new rule states that the maximumestoppel certificate fee that can be charged is$250, and an additional $150 can be chargedif the owner is delinquent paying assess -ments. Moving forward, these fee caps willbe reevaluated by the Department ofBusiness and Professional Regulation everyfive years based on increases in theconsumer price index.

The new rule also mandates that if theestoppel certificate is not delivered within10 business days after receipt of the writtenrequest, the association is not allowed tocharge a fee. Additionally, if the transactiondoes not close, then the owner of theestoppel certificate is entitled to a refund

Trenam Law participated in an afternoon of service in conjunctionwith Keep Pinellas Beautiful to help clean up Gandy Beach in theaftermath of Hurricane Irma on Wednesday, September 27.Throughout the afternoon, attorneys, management and staff fromTrenam Law joined the local conservation group to aid in clearingdebris and litter from the coastline. Efforts also supported the annualInternational Coastal Cleanup Initiative by the Ocean Conservancy,which aims to gather data on garbage collected to provide insight onways to improve ocean and beach preservation moving forward.

“It was truly an honor for our team to work together in this effortas a step toward restoring our beautiful city after Hurricane Irma, andwe were especially grateful to the team at Keep Pinellas Beautiful forallowing us the opportunity to work with them,” said Marie Tomassi,managing shareholder with Trenam Law. “Our firm has a long-lastingcommitment to the continued improvement of our community, whichmade it all the more rewarding to have the chance to come togetherand help restore Gandy Beach in the aftermath of Irma.”

UT to Hold Dance HappeningThe University of Tampa will present its popular Dance Happening October 25-27, featuring popular music and

student dancers from across the University community. All performances begin at 8 p.m. in Falk Theatre, located at 428W. Kennedy. Blvd.

Always a popular event on campus, the Dance Happening will feature more than 70 student dancers from all sectorsof the University community presenting original choreography, many for the first time at UT.

“We had a large group of seniors graduate last year, so the majority of our choreographers are new to this experience,”said Susannah LeMarquand, dance program director, who organizes the annual event. “It is an exciting time for them,and we are looking forward to seeing their artistic voice come to life.” Students have crafted new choreography in stylesranging from hip hop to contemporary, with themes covering a diverse range of issues, from sociopolitical commentaryto a celebration of life’s victories.

“The Dance Happening is a transformative experience for many of our students, both choreographers and dancers,”said LeMarquand. “They work together to bring an abstract concept into reality on the stage. Magic happens!”

The Straz Center for the Performing Arts presents the new show by America’s hottest dancecompany, Travis Wall’s Shaping Sound: After the Curtain on Thursday, November 9 at 8 p.m. inMorsani Hall, as part of the Straz Center’s 30th anniversary season.

Shaping Sound was established in Los Angeles in 2012 with a focus on contemporary dance andchoreographic artistry. Created by the 2015 Emmy Award-winner (and five-time Emmy Awardnominee) for Outstanding Choreography, Travis Wall, along with partners Nick Lazzarini, TeddyForance and Kyle Robinson, the company is an evocative collaboration by diverse artists who describethemselves as ‘visual musicians’ i.e. their dance gives shape and form to sound. Shaping Sound hasimpacted audiences with a unique fusion of jazz, modern and hip-hop choreography. The four youngdancers broke into public awareness with the debut of their reality television series All The Right Moveson the Oxygen channel which followed them in their quest to launch the dance company.
