NEIGHBORHOOD
DAY
A 40 Year Tradition!
Neighborhood day is a beloved tradition
enjoyed by Arlingtonians of ALL ages!
Every year, neighbors get together to
celebrate their community, enjoy what
their neighborhoods have to offer, and
strengthen ties between one another.
Join in on the fun! Get out and meet
your neighbors for one of the many
planned events or take the lead and plan
one yourself for everyone to enjoy! The
possibilities are endless and we’re here
to help with this Neighborhood Day
Toolkit!
2018 Neighborhood Day Highlight!
2018 Neighborhood Day was a hit bringing our very diverse community together for family, food, and fun! Moon bounces, face painting, card games, large games, Zumba, a DJ, food trucks, vendors, fire trucks, Hooper The K-9, and of course the amazing High View Park Community, made our 2018 Neighborhood Day a success.
With our goal to bring the community out to interact and make genuine connections, every aspect of planning was focused on making sure that the community knew
Neighborhood Day was for EVERYONE! One of our biggest advertising perks was letting people know that they could bring their dogs! Many cited this as to why they came out. Also, we used social media extensively, and avenues such as ARLNow and NextDoor really helped us to reach our target audience. Lastly, we asked local businesses to donate as sponsors, and recognized them on signage. This allowed us to provide giveaways, raffles, and cut ALL cost associated with the event.
This year we look forward to Neighborhood Day 2019, scheduled for May 4, 2019 at High View Park. Our theme is “Back To Basics”. While we are a very diverse community, that is changing everyday. It is imperative that the residents of High View Park understand their community’s roots. As a historically Black community we want our diverse residency to know and understand the foundation that their 150 plus year old community continues to stand!

Reserve a fire truck
Register a food drive with the Arlington Food Assistance Center
Hire local teens through the T.E.A.M program for a DJ, balloon artist, face painter, or moon bounce
Host a Neighborhood Walkabout with the help of WalkArlington’s routes and maps
