Denice Cora-Bramble, MD, MBA is the Chief Medical Officer & Executive Vice President of Ambulatory and Community Health Services at Children’s National Health System in the District of Columbia. In this role she leads all regional ambulatory clinical operations including eight pediatric subspecialty regional outpatient centers, two emergency departments, seven general pediatrics health centers, nine pediatric practices, seven school-based health centers, three mobile medical units as well as nursing services in DC Public Schools & Public Charter Schools. Dr. Cora-Bramble has direct

responsibility for more than 1,000 physicians, nurses and administrative staff members and oversees a budget of approximately $113 million. She directs the physician business enterprise at Children’s National focused on quality outcomes, operational efficiency, patient satisfaction, access to timely services, fiscal responsibility and shared accountability. She also oversees the strategic alliance, vaccine group purchasing contracts and other activities of the Children’s National Health Network which includes more than 1,400 providers in six states.

After finishing a Bachelor of Science degree at George Washington University Dr. Cora-Bramble completed her medical and pediatric residency training at Howard University and a Master in Business Administration with a concentration in Medical Services Management from Johns Hopkins University. Her professional development also included a three year W.K. Kellogg Foundation Leadership fellowship. Dr. Cora-Bramble held several leadership positions at the George Washington University Medical Center and the US Department of Health and Human Services.

Dr. Cora-Bramble is a Professor of Pediatrics at George Washington University School of Medicine and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics. She is the recipient of the 2009 Distinguished Alumnus Award from Johns Hopkins University and the 2009 Health Care Delivery Award from the Academic Pediatric Association. In 2007 she received the highest national honor in community pediatric education, the Academic Pediatric Association and American Academy of Pediatrics’ National Pediatric Community Teaching Award. Her work in community pediatrics was featured in the Advocate for Children section of the national pediatric journal, Contemporary Pediatrics and she has lectured throughout the US, in Europe, South America and the Middle East.

Carol Shannon - Carol Shannon is the Chief Development Officer at Catholic Charities, the largest social services agency in the Washington area. Carol is responsible for the annual and campaign fundraising, and communications and public relations. With a staff of 25, Carol has enjoyed this work for over nine years. Previously, she worked at Children’s Hospital Foundation, working on the largest fundraising campaign in the history of pediatric medicine. Carol has lived in the Washington area for twenty years and currently resides on Capitol Hill. Carol has served on the Board of several organizations including Association for Fundraising Professionals, The Bridge Conference Planning Committee, National Philanthropy Day Chair, the Mid-Atlantic Network for Youth Services and the New York Avenue Presbyterian church.

Meet the Speakers

Allison Silberberg - Elected to the Alexandria City Council in 2012, Allison Silberberg is a writer and lifelong advocate for social justice issues. She has worked to promote civic engagement and address unmet social needs. Allison has over 20 years of experience in community leadership and public service, including interning for Senator Edward M. Kennedy, working as Chief Editor and Chief Research Assistant for Senator Lloyd M. Bentsen, and serving on the World Bank’s Community Outreach Grants Committee. Currently, she serves as the Secretary/Treasurer, a corporate officer, for the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments. She also serves as an honorary board member of the National Chamber Ensemble. She served as the president of the board of the Georgetown Senior Center, 2010 - 2012. Originally from Dallas, Texas, Allison has a B.A. in international relations and history from American

University and an M.F.A. in playwriting from the School of Theater, Film and Television at the University of California, Los Angeles. An Alexandria resident since 1989, Allison has lived in Parkfairfax since 1992.

Ryan Slevin - Ryan Slevin’s professional currency is people. She believes in servant leadership and is happiest when people come together for a common goal. She has served organizations as a teacher, business developer, process manager, program manager, and strategy leader. Ryan holds a degree from James Madison University and her resume includes positions at Houghton Mifflin, the United States Mint, Arlington Public Schools, and her current position at Capital One. Throughout her various roles and responsibilities, Ryan has leveraged her ability to collaborate, listen, and drive alignment in order to produce results. Ryan lives in Richmond with her husband, two amazing daughters, and two poorly behaved (but beloved) dogs.

Nicole Furst Koonce - Nicole Furst Koonce is a managing director with Accenture Federal Services and a Project Management Professional (PMP). Ms. Koonce spent the first half of her 21-year career with Accenture working in their commercial practice, supporting financial service, retail and pharmaceutical clients in the United States and Europe. An advocate for women and her community, Ms. Koonce serves as the geography lead for the Baltimore area and as a certified instructor for Accenture’s Leading a Diverse Workforce training. She is a founding member of Accenture’s “Changing the Face of the Practice” Initiative, encouraging diversity across Accenture and, especially, at the leadership levels and is a US North America Maternity Leave Champion. Ms. Koonce earned her bachelor of Accountancy at Villanova and currently lives in Ellicott City, Md., with her husband and two young sons.

Susan Kerr - Susan is the founder and CEO of Advancing Inspiration, a boutique coaching and strategic leadership company focused on igniting and inspiring individuals, teams, and organizations to better results, richer communities, and amazing possibilities. Susan and her team love working and co-creating sacred spaces with smart, savvy, dedicated individuals and groups who are ready for rigor, reality, and realizing results. From Intel to SHRM, from Children’s National Medical Center to private career consultations, from local charities and universities to the Fortune 500, Advancing Inspiration has served an array of individuals and organizations who inspire and lead. Susan earned her MBA at the University of Southern California where she led the Graduate Women In Business group over a decade ago! A huge believer in service and mentors many, she often speaks to

groups and organizations on a variety of topics - goals, transitions, leadership, engagement, transformation, strategy, living your dreams, service, creativity, entrepreneurship, culture and swinging for the fences. She is also a published author and photographer, as well as a painter with installations in NYC, Detroit, and Los Angeles. She often frequents Venice, Italy and sand volleyball courts. She is always open to a chat or a saunter to hear what’s new with you and where your dreams are taking you.
