WELCOME

Tradeshow (Wednesday, April 11 and Thursday, April 12) Please join us in The Special Events Centre, for this year’s tradeshow. We have many new exhibitors participating who are looking forward to meeting you! We also want to remind you that we will be having a “Munch and Mingle” breakfast and lunch in the Tradeshow space on Thursday. This is not a traditional sit-down lunch, as we are encouraging everyone to move around to visit with each other and our exhibitors.

Convention Team If you require assistance or any information, the Convention Team is here to help! You’ll find the team members at the Registration Desk, In the San Remo Room or in the Tradeshow at the ASCHA booth. Look for the ladies wearing ASCHA scarves. They are here to ensure you have an exceptional convention experience! Nametags Your name tag serves as your all-access pass to the various activities planned, and serves as a powerful networking tool. Please be sure to wear it at all times. At the end of the convention, we will be collecting your name tag for entry into the Grand Prize Draw on Friday, April 13 at the end of Closing Ceremonies. There will be one travel certificate presented. Please note you must be in attendance to win. Evaluations Kindly take a moment to complete an evaluation form. This information is key in planning future events and ensure growth and success of offerings on your behalf. Annual General Meeting (AGM) The full AGM Package was sent by email to all members and is available online in the Member Area. There will be one binder on each table with this information for reference. Please note that while the AGM is intended for ASCHA members, non-members are welcome to attend but will not hold any voting rights and will not be able to speak from the floor.

Everything seems to be about responding to change nowadays. We hear about change so much in our industry, and ingeneral, that all this focus on change needs to...well...change. How do we find our centre, focus on what’s truly important, and make impactful inroads towards a shared goal?

We need to find our common ground to ensure that Albertans have the right housing in the right place at the right time.

Our advocacy efforts, education and public awareness initiatives are only as effective as our shared understandings andapproaches to things, and ultimately our understanding of one another. Influencing factors such as changingdemographics, shifting priorities, competing agendas, political environments, economic climates and other challenges canbecome diversions that take us off course. These singular problems and issues are usually outside of our immediatecontrol and make the bigger picture blurry. We can spend our efforts fighting uphill battles, and search for what makes usunique and different. The result is fragmentation and confusion, and it is working against everything we hope to achievefor Albertans.

The 2018 ASCHA Convention & Tradeshow invites you to explore what we all have in common...the positive ideas andshared purpose at the heart of everything that we do. Reconnect with other housing leaders, have new conversationsabout the things that matter most, and learn a few new things you never thought about before.
