Event Managament

Following the success of the British summer, with events including the Diamond Jubilee, Olympic Games,

and the Paralympic Games, the Baltic will be hosting a prestigious fashion event, celebrating;

“British Fashion - The Past, The Present & The Future.”

The event will be exploring British Fashion, in particular the designers who make it the industry that

it is, focussing on where it’s been and where it’s going next in relation to the designers and their

trends.

Beginning in Gateshead for a special invitation only launch night, the show then adapts into a moving

exhibition touring twelve main cities around the UK, made accessible to the general public. The event as a whole will be free admission, and the only incurred costs to the public will be those to the general

entrance of the venues, if any.

Within this section of the dossier, details will be explained in relation to all aspects of the Event

Launch Night.

As an introduction to “British Fashion- The Past, The Present & The Future”, the launch night is designed to open the exhibition and will showcase the concept that

the overall event is based on. Held at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, the launch night will be

a chance for guests to be the first to see a sneak preview of the exhibition before its release to

admission for the general public.

The launch night is invitation only, and ways to obtain invitations will be detailed further on in this section of the dossier. The launch night aspect of the overall event will be of free admission to guests, and all funding will be supported by both the Arts Council

England, and other sponsors of the event.

Location/Venue

The location for the launch night will be at the Baltic Centre For Contemporary Art. Located on the Gateshead Quays, in Gateshed, the Baltic Centre For

Contemporary Art is a refurbished flour mill originally named The Baltic Mill. The building boasts six main floors, consisting of large vast rooms, with high

ceilings and a contemporary feel. Rooms are blanks canvasses for the exhibitor, and their pieces can be

displayed as the exhibitor so wishes to. The venue offers three function rooms suitable for holding an exhibition launch event. These rooms are; the River Terrace, the Six Rooftop Restaurant, and the Level 1 Event Suite. Each utilises space in a different

way, but has different aspects to offer.

Of the three of these function rooms, we have decided to hold the launch event in the River Terrace

room.
