Event 4. Ladder Practice Objective: This event hones the skills of the firefighter in quickly ascending a ladder to gain access to an upper level of a building. Core Skills: Ladders Equipment: There is no equipment for this event other than that which is set up on the track. Brigade work trousers are to be worn but other than that competitors may wear a singlet, team T-shirt, shirt etc and they can also wear boots or shoes. Event 5. Urban Pumper BA & Foam

Objective: Two firefighters in breathing apparatus are to extinguish a fire using one length of 38mm hose with hydrant water supplied through the appliance by the other team members. (Utilising foam eductor to simulate foam-making drill) Core Skills: Pump Operation, Hydrants, Hose Handling, Branches, Foam making & SCBA. Competitors are marked and timed on their ability to correctly perform all the above-mentioned tasks. Equipment: Hoses used – 1 x 70mm (10m filler hose) and 1 x 38mm (30m) The appliance will be stowed with one length of 38mm hose flaked, one shut-off branch (with aeration tube attached), one 10m length of 70mm filler hose rolled on the bight, one breeching piece and one standpipe, one 38mm foam eductor and one foam concentrate siphon hose. All with stortz couplings. Appliance will be parked as per sketch above. 2 x SCBA air sets and the BA Control board will also be used.

Event 7. Rescue

Objective: To assess various rescue skills of the four firefighters in the team. Core Skills: Rescue Skills (Knots, Combi Tool, RIK, Power Hydraulic Pump, Hand Hydraulic Pump, Stokes Litter) Equipment: There is no equipment for this event other than that which is set up one the track. Event 8. Hose Hydrant & Extinguisher

Objective: This event is used to simulate an initial attack on a fire using a water extinguisher. After that one 38mm hose line is used with water from a hydrant, which then needs to be lengthened to two lengths to go deeper into the fire. Core Skills: Hydrants, Extinguishers, Hose Handling & Branches Equipment: Hoses used – 2 x 38mm (30m) (double rolled on the bight) Two lengths of 38mm hose double rolled on the bight, one shut-off branch, one standpipe and one water extinguisher. Objective: To extinguish a fire using two lengths of 38mm hose and water through the appliance from a static water supply such a dam or pool. Administration of Championships

All enquiries at the Championship are to be directed to the Association Office. This includes general announcements over the PA and Event Results. Trophies and Presentations will also be coordinated from this area. Competitors and Officials are reminded that the Timing and Recording Caravan is restricted to rostered officials only.

Workers Compensation

All injuries received during the Championship must be reported immediately to a FRNSW Official. Any competitor who is injured must complete the necessary notice of injury form and if required complete a worker’s compensation claim form. Report forms are available at the Association Office. Any enquires in relation to workers compensation matters may be referred to Assistant Director of Championships Ken Murphy.

Event Officials

Nominated REO members will roster officials for each event. Rostered officials are to report to the Chief Track Marshal for each event 15 minutes prior to commencement. Officials will be correctly dressed in vests, armbands and compiled duty statement will be available at association office.

Meeting of Ground Directors and Officials

A meeting of all Ground Directors and Officials involved in the Championship will be conducted prior to and following completion of each day’s Events. Items raised by Officials and Competitors are to be discussed at these meetings.

Safety Officer

Safety Officers will be appointed for each Championship with safety responsibilities on both the Competition track & external areas. The Safety Officer is responsible to ensure the safety of Officials, Competitors and Spectators at all times. The Safety Officer and Chief Track Marshal will ensure that the track is clear prior to each team competing.

Appliances and Equipment not in use are to be removed and placed in a designated area by the Logistics Director. NOTE: Alcohol is not to be consumed within the Championship perimeter.
