WE HAVE A WINNER! Thank you to all of the Dragon Hunters and their families for participating in the great Dragon Egg Hunt. Congratulations to Kaylie Blouson for finding the big egg and winning the dragon puppet! Look for another hunt this winter! AINSWORTH VISITS ONWARD Did you know that the Library visits Onward at WES every month? We read stories and leave a challenge for Onward each month. We are reading the Red Clover books so they can join other youth in Vermont as they vote on their favorite in May. The Red Clover Book Award is designed for children in kindergarten through fourth grade. Each year thousands of Vermont school children read the 10 nominated picture books and vote for their favorite in the spring. The award has been handed out annually since 1997. This month we read All the Way to the Top: How One Girl’s Fight for Americans with Disabilities Changed Everything by Pimentel, Annette Bay. Ask your Onward student about it. TRUNK OR TREAT We had so much fun last year that we are going to do it again! Our Annual Trunk or Treat Event will be Saturday, October 30th from 3-5pm at Williamstown Middle High School. Contact us to decorate a vehicle ($10 a car) or to donate candy to the cause. We will follow Covid restrictions as we did last year. All proceeds benefit the library for the purchase of books. Bring your young friends to join in! GO PAINE MOUNTAIN SOCCER TEAMS! Support youth sports and your local library at the same time! Find the Friends of the Library at the WMHS Soccer Field Saturday, October 9th and 23rd from 10am-1pm selling drinks and yummy goodies. All proceeds go towards purchasing new books for the Ainsworth Public Library. Interested in volunteering? MEET THE FRIENDSThe Friends ofAinsworth PublicLibrary is a group ofvolunteers giving thegift of their time, energy, andenthusiasm to thissmall community

library. The mission of the group is to raisemoney to support library programs, projectsand needs beyond that provided by townfunding. Friends’ fundraising has paid forwindow shades, folding table and chairs, an airconditioner, and in order for children to havejuice during the weekly Story Time, amini-refrigerator. Funds have also been used topurchase adult and youth books, prizes forreading contests, and materials for workshops.Fundraising efforts are now focused on payingfor the new mobile bookshelves in the library’sChildren’s Room. Librarian Sarah Snow isdelighted with this addition. She says, “Therewere safety issues with the way the books wereshelved in wire baskets. Children couldn’t seethe books well, and would sometimes pull thebook-heavy baskets down causing books tofall on them or pinching their fingers. Havingthe book bins allows children to look at booksat their eye level and easily reach in and takewhat appeals to them. The bottom of the binsallow for our youngest baby patrons to easilyaccess books at their eye level. Since the binsare on wheels we can use the youth space inmore creative ways.” The Friends would love

to welcome new volunteers. Let us know if youare interested in helping.
