Evangelism Is Easy
Evangelism is one thing that all Christians
are commanded by Jesus Christ to do! In
fact, it was His last commandment before
He went to Heaven!
It is very easy, and it is great fun! You
will find hat Evangelism is the most
exciting thing you have ever done! You
can do this, and it is very easy!
We have travelled all over the UK, toWestern and Eastern Europe, Africa, the
Caribbean, the USA, Pakistan and the
Philippines telling people about Jesus
Christ, often in large crowds, but also
very often on a one to one basis. In fact, one to one evangelism is actually far more productive in
terms of people and time than evangelistic services.
Most of our evangelism is one to one, simply talking to people on the streets, in cafes, shops,
restaurants, banks, airports, beaches, taxis, homes, factories, shops, hospitals and prisons. We also
talk to large groups in hotels, churches, hospitals and prisons, or wherever large groups gather.
We have spoken to many thousands of people in this way
in many different countries. We have spoken people of
every religious background, every skin colour, and every
position in society, from convicts awaiting execution to a
President! In every case we keep our message very simple
and to the point.
Jesus said in John 3:3, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the
kingdom of God." He reinforced this by saying in John 3:7, 'You must be born again.'
Evangelism is so easy that a child could do it. In fact,
children make excellent evangelists! There are no special
rules, and everyone has a different personality. God can,
and does, use all our different personality types in
evangelism.

Here are some basic concepts to grasp about the importance of evangelism, and how to actually do
it.
- The truth is that nobody can lead a person to Jesus Christ, only the Holy Spirit can do that.
- All we can do is to go out, in complete submission to the Holy Spirit, and allow the Holy Spirit to do
His work through us.
- There is no other way to succeed.
- This whole web site is evangelistic in nature, and everything on this web site will be helpful for
training evangelists!
- This section of the web site is all about the actual process of evangelism. It is necessarily quite
lengthy, because, like any other ministry, there is a great deal to learn.
- However, it should not take more than 30 minutes reading "Evangelism is Easy" before you are
ready to go out and win your first person to Jesus!
- If you feel like that, stop reading straight away, and go and speak to the first person that the Holy
Spirit leads you to!
- There is no more encouragement for a new evangelist than to actually lead a person to Jesus
Christ!
- This is a very practical subject!
- Start with someone easy!
- Don't start with a hardened criminal!
- An ideal first subject would be a nice person who goes to church, but is not actually born again
(there are lots of them everywhere!).
- Don't forget your Bible!
- When you have led your first person to Jesus, thank Jesus.

There are no examinations to pass, and there is nobody to impress, other than the Lord Himself! On
the Day of Judgement, it will become abundantly clear that this neglected ministry was actually
incredibly important!
We address the seldom tackled subject of "How to very easily speak to other people about Jesus
Christ, and see amazing results!"
This very simple method of bringing people to a point of decision can be taught in 10 minutes, and
will completely transform your personal evangelism, and your church! Evangelism is a subject which
does not come naturally, and Richard was himself taught!
The Sinner's Prayer For Evangelism is taught in very
great detail, since so many versions omit the all essential
repentance from sin, and forgiveness of others (see Luke
24:47).
Richard also teaches how to rely about the Holy Spirit to
convict individuals of their own sin, simply using their
consciences, whilst keeping all details completely private to
the individual.
Philip the Evangelist is covered in great detail in Acts 8,
since his lifestyle gives enormous insight into true New
Testament evangelism.
Blocks to evangelism are covered, as well as the essential
Baptism in the Holy Spirit.
AN OFFER TO ALL CHURCH LEADERS, ANYWHERE
IN THE WORLD
Richard and Val have worked with many churches in many countries teaching practical personal
evangelism as part of their FREE CONFERENCES. (please link to Free Conferences) They will work
with your people, in your church or organisation, entirely free!
Since this is a very practical subject, Richard and Val will actually accompany your church members or
your organisation on evangelistic visits to hospitals, prisons, beaches, or parks, in fact anywhere
8/13/2019 Evangelism is Easy - By Dr. Richard Kent
http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/evangelism-is-easy-by-dr-richard-kent 7/66
where people gather, and the Gospel may be preached.
Individuals really do want to go to Heaven, but often have not had a clear explanation of how to! The
genuine Christians who they often meet everyday are often too embarrassed to tell them!
Using this simple yet Biblical technique, it is not unusual to see several hundred patients in a hospital,
or several hundred prisoners, praying The Sinners Prayer For Evangelism with individual church
members working as a team at such outreaches.
All evangelists should obviously work within churches, so
that new converts can be given suitable material, such as
the Gospel of John, and followed up by church leaders.
We give a number of examples of practical evangelism in
taxis, airports, shops, supermarkets, restaurants, building
sites, gardens, beaches, schools, hospitals and prisons,
and encourage all church members to talk to everyone,
wherever they meet them!
- Richard and Val have only one rule.
- If the person they are talking to is not breathing, they are too late!
- That person is in Heaven or Hell already!

Advantages Of Evangelism
There are a lot of advantages of evangelism compared to
other ministries:
- There is no competition
- You don't have to go to Bible school
- You don't have to wait until somebody invites you
- You are right in the centre of God's will for your life
- You will see miracles - lots of them!
- You will take loads of people to Heaven with you
- You have a ministry that will last all your life, and
probably take you all over the planet
- God will be your banker!

Road Blocks To Evangelism
The fact is that very few Christians
actually do any evangelism at all, which is
remarkable. They may be held back by
one or more of the following:
- Fear
- Embarrassment
- Laziness
- They are not sure how to start
- They are "waiting until the time is right"
- They worry "What will people think of me?"
- They are not sure how to pray with someone to be born again
- They have never really thought about it

Shops and Supermarkets
Shops are wonderful places for evangelism. Just talk to people, and they talk back if you show an
interest in them! We often lead people to the Lord in shops! Recently, in Trinidad, we spoke to the
supermarket owner outside his own shop. He was a Sikh. We told him that Jesus loves Sikhs. He was
very interested, so we led him to Jesus. With his permission we then led all the checkout staff and
most of the customers to Jesus. It was all very, very easy!
Car parks
Car parks are perfect for evangelism. We have led countless people to Jesus in car parks in many
countries! It is so simple!
Restaurants
When we are travelling, we always ask the waiters and waitresses if they are born again. They are
usually not, so, very simply, we pray with them, whilst they invite Jesus Christ into their hearts! We
tell them not to shut their eyes, and nobody else would know what is happening except us and the
Lord.
We prefer to speak to the headwaiter first. When he is saved we ask his permission to speak to all his
staff, and we have never been refused yet! There are often opportunities to speak to customers as
well, although it is important to be polite and ask permission to speak first.
In fast food restaurants we ask customers permission to sit with them. We have never been refused.
Recently in a fast food restaurant in the US Virgin Islands we led twelve people to Jesus, sitting at
their, tables within 30 minutes.
A miracle in a restaurant
In the same island, at another restaurant, we led first the waitress, then the cocktail waiter, then a
lady from New York, then the restaurant owner's son, and finally the restaurant owner to the Lord.
The new little band of converts were getting very excited, and wanted more, so they all received the
Baptism in the Holy Spirit ten minutes after being born again.
One of the group of brand new Christians was a lady, an attractive blonde from New York. She
wanted the whole group to pray for her Muslim husband. He seemed not to be interested, so the lady

helps to know about Scientific Evidence for Creation and The Supernatural Authority of the Bible,
because these are the two questions that most people will ask you about. What could be more
pleasant than spending two hours in a garden, or on a beach, talking to people about Heaven? After
your first convert, you will never look at a garden or a beach in the same way!
A town square in Bulgaria
In 1992 a number of us visited Bulgaria. Standing on a table, preaching to a large crowd about how
to go to Heaven, we were concerned that two armed policemen approached us! So we stopped
speaking to the crowd, and addressed the policemen directly.
We told them that God loved them, and that Jesus Christ had died on a cross for them, so that they
could go to Heaven instead of Hell. They listened politely, and at the short time of prayer, prayed that
they too might be born again! Isn't God wonderful?
Sports and other out of doors hobbies
What is your hobby? Do you like golf, cycling,
walking, swimming, jogging, climbing, sunbathing,
tennis, sailing, or anything else? We guess that
you have something you like to do with other
people!
Whatever you do, do not give up these "secular
"hobbies! God wants you to enjoy the open air,
and to keep fit! The more you enjoy life, the more
attractive you are to the unsaved! t.com
We enjoy long distance running, and training for marathons. We run most days, and there are
countless opportunities to speak to others runners about Jesus. On recent visits to Malta and
Barbados we have had the pleasure of leading dozens of runners to Jesus! Sometimes we pray with
them as they are running! Sometimes we pray with them as we stop. Recently, in Malta, we joined
with the local running club. After a long run, ending at the beach, we addressed all of them on the
beach, and they all became Christians!
Villages in Kenya, Bulgaria, and the Caribbean
On many occasions we have spent the afternoon walking round villages in various parts of the world

with the local pastor, inviting people to receive Jesus Christ. It is very exciting, very fulfilling, and you
rapidly learn all you need to know about evangelism!
Hotels in England
We often speak at FGBMFI meetings in the UK. We often find that what happens before and after
meetings is more important than the actual meeting itself. We try to speak to the hotel manager /
restaurant manager first, and thank him for his nice hotel / restaurant. Then we give him one of our
books, and ask him if he is looking forward to going to Heaven! We usually find that he is
embarrassed or speechless!
So we then explain about Heaven and Hell, and how Jesus died so that he can go to Heaven. We
then ask him if he would like to receive Jesus Christ, to ensure a place in Heaven. Once he is saved,
we ask if we can speak to his other staff, including the kitchen staff. We have never been refused
yet!
A university campus in Trinidad
We recently spoke at an FGBMFI breakfast on a university campus in Trinidad. There were few
unsaved guests at the breakfast, so, before it started, we walked around the university speaking to
the students about Jesus Christ. Many students received Him. It was all very easy and great fun!
Schools in many parts of the world
Schools are the best evangelistic places on this planet!
We find it best if a local pastor makes an appointment
with the headmaster / headmistress first, to address
the entire school at their morning assembly. It is best
to arrive early at the school, so that you have time to
speak to the headmaster / headmistress first. We find
that it is best to be completely open an honest, and
explain that you want to address the whole school
about the need to be born again. Sometimes we open
up the Bible at John 3:7, where Jesus states: "You must be born again".
With very few exceptions we have always had complete freedom to preach the gospel. We find that
we have only about 20 minutes, so we often recount two Near Death Experiences. We then read the
Bible. In the last 5 minutes we pray out loud and invite the whole school, including all the staff, to

join in if they want to.
Only God knows how many have been saved in this simple way, but it must number many thousands
of people! And it is all so very easy, and takes so little time. Having started off the day be winning a
hundred people to Jesus, you can afford to treat yourself to a sleep in the park, a run in the
countryside, a cup of coffee, or whatever takes your fancy. Like us, you will find that the Holy Spirit
will bring many more to you that very day!
Hospitals in Bulgaria
We visited the local hospitals with the local pastor, and walked from bed to bed inviting each person
to receive Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour. Hospitals are wonderful places for evangelism.
Always ask the permission of the hospital administrators first, and then the doctors and nurses on
each ward, before you speak to any patients. God wants you to be polite, and go through the correct
processes, but do not forget to speak to the administrators, doctors and nurses about their need to
be saved! Not only do they need to be saved, but, when they are, they will fall over themselves trying
to help you speak to all the patients!
Prisons
We often speak in high or low security prisons in the UK. The local Christians make the arrangements.
They have the hard part - we have the easy part! We simply turn up, go through the security checks,
and see how many prisoners turn up. We start off by asking them to put their hands in the air if they
are born again - usually very few are.
So we tell them a few Near Death Experiences, tell them about Jesus, and invite them to pray to
receive Jesus. We well remember convicted murderers with tears in their eyes, having just become
Christians.
Death Row in the Philippines
We visited Death Row in Muntinlupa
Prison in the Philippines, and worked
there for many weeks. Prisoners are
executed regularly. These prisoners
knew they would imminently find out if
the Bible was true or not! We have never
seen such enthusiasm to become born
8/13/2019 Evangelism is Easy - By Dr. Richard Kent
http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/evangelism-is-easy-by-dr-richard-kent 16/66
again! Every single prisoner awaiting imminent execution, about 120 of the total 1,100 on Death Row
prayed The Sinner's Prayer For Evangelism, as well as the attending prison officers.
There were 12 rival gangs of prisoners operating in the prison, and every prisoner belonged to one
gang or another. So we spoke to every single gang leader, and every single vice-gang leader, and
lead them all to Christ. They promised to lead all their gang to Christ. There are Christian churches
operating within Death Row, and we befriended and encouraged the leaders.
The Holy Spirit overcame problems in a prison in Grenada
Recently, in Granada, we went to a prison where the authorities would not let us speak to all the
prisoners, but only allowed us to take a service for 12 committed Christians! No problem! The Holy
Spirit does not need us! The prisoners who are Christians would be the ideal 12 disciples to reach the
other 312 inmates! We invited them to receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, and waited until they
were all speaking in tongues. When they we, we explained the purpose of the Baptism of the Holy
Spirit, to give them power to witness to their fellow prisoners - which they promptly did!
Baggage buggies in Barbados
In Barbados where we were recently speaking at a conference, the hotel took our cases to our rooms
by delightful men in small electric baggage buggies. As we sat beside them we led them to Jesus, and
often had time to pray for them to receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit as well, all in a 5-minute
buggy ride! What fun!
A busy ferry in Kenya
There were hundreds of people waiting to cross the river on a ferry. So we simply stood on a wooden
table, and started to speak to them. It was enormously successful, so the next day the local pastor
came, complete with PA equipment! Again we spoke, and invited prayer. The air was quiet as dozens
of people waiting for the ferry invited Jesus Christ to be Lord of their lives.
Orphanages
We often speak in orphanages, where the staff are invariably very open and welcoming. We find that
orphanages do not have many visiting speakers, especially from a foreign country. In Bulgaria there
is great ignorance about the Bible, so we read out passages from the Bible, and leave Bibles with the
staff.
A financial contribution to the needs of the orphanage is always welcome, and Jesus asked us to do

this. We then preach the Gospel, and invite everyone to receive Jesus Christ. Only God knows how
many children have received Jesus in this simple way.
Kitchens
Hotel kitchens are normally out of bounds to hotel guests! We find that the best way to bypass this
rule is to speak to the kitchen manager first. We ask him about himself, and invite him to receive
Jesus Christ. When he is truly saved, we ask his permission to speak to all his staff. We have not
been turned down yet.
A miracle in Jamaica
We attended a mission in Jamaica which included evangelists, doctors, dentists and nurses. One of
the group of 30 people was not a Christian, and not remotely interested either! However, she said
she might be was interested if God, if He existed, could help her with her sleeping problem. This dear
lady has inadvertently been involved in occult practices many years before, without realising it. Since
then, when trying to sleep, her whole body frequently levitated to the ceiling. Her whole family were
well aware of the problem!
During these levitations, she then became very frightened as she felt herself being propelled by
unseen forces towards the window, presumably trying to throw her out of the building. This was the
reason that she always slept in a ground floor bedroom, with the windows locked. Naturally, she was
very frightened.
The New Testament does speak about demons, and we felt, in consultation with the family, that this
was the underlying problem, following the involvement with occult activities.
She agreed for a group of believers to pray with her. She was delivered, born again, and baptised in
the Holy Spirit, all very simply, quickly, and gently. The whole matter was quietly settled in prayer.
The very next morning she, and a number of her family, were all baptised in the hotel swimming
pool!
There were no more sleep problems ever again!
Caution: Do NOT under any circumstances get involved in deliverance of demons until you are a
mature Christian, and then only working with other mature Christians, and only with the full
agreement of the person needing help. No loud prayer is necessary at all. Demons are not deaf!

A President
Recently we were visiting an island, and the President attended one of our meetings, complete with a
stretch limousine, a soldier in uniform, and a throne to sit in! We simply asked him if he wanted to go
to Heaven when he died, and he was born again immediately. Out of respect for the President, we
have not revealed the location of the island.
Everywhere
Evangelism can be done literally everywhere! There is not
a single place on this planet where God does not want you
to speak about Jesus! Jesus in fact commanded us to go
everywhere, so that is where we should go!
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority
has been given to Me in Heaven and on earth. Go
therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptising
them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the
Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have
commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to
the end of the age," Matthew 28:18-20.
- We are so glad that you have read this!
- Are you getting the idea? Good!
- You are going to be a wonderful evangelist, and lead many, many people to Jesus.
- Please read the next section - and be encouraged!
- Evangelism is easy! Evangelism is fun!
- It is easy to just talk to somebody - you can do it.
- Everyone feels "empty" - there doesn't seem to be any meaning to life.
- We talk to people all the time, just wherever they are.

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/evangelism-is-easy-by-dr-richard-kent 19/66
- Sometimes we talk to lots of people, but mostly one at a time.
- We have one simple rule.
- If they are dead, it's too late for evangelism.
- They are already either in Heaven, or in Hell.
- This is serious.
We are almost invariably accompanied on our evangelistic trips by pastors and church members. By
all means read their comments about this type of evangelism at Recommendations.

Azotus. And passing through, he preached in all the cities till he came to Caesarea". Acts 8:26-40
We would like to make some comments on the above Bible reading:
Prompting of the Holy Spirit
Philip was obedient. He had no idea what God had planned. Philip knew nothing about the Ethiopian
Chancellor of the Exchequer. He had a child - like faith. Philip had no idea what lay ahead, he only
knew that he was to go South down the Gaza road.
The Holy Spirit does not reveal the next step until Philip had made the first step! This is perfectly
normal, in our own limited experience. In other words, the Holy Spirit requires unquestioning
obedience.
- It does not make a lot of sense to the natural mind walk into a desert! But Philip did!
- We must try to do the same! It does not make a lot of sense to your natural mind to speak to
strangers about Heaven.
- However, if nobody speaks to them, they will not be born again, and end up in Hell.
- Often the Holy Spirit does give us, and other evangelists specific instructions, and He will do the
same for you!
Preparing the hearts of new converts
The Holy Spirit had already prepared the heart of the Ethiopian, who was obviously seeking God, but
needed help. You will find that many of the people you speak to have already had their hearts
prepared by the Holy Spirit before you opened your mouth! This is what evangelists are for! They
help people who are seeking God!
Boldness
The Ethiopian was travelling in a desert. Then the
Holy Spirit said to Philip, "Go near and overtake this
chariot." Evangelists need a little bit of courage!
8/13/2019 Evangelism is Easy - By Dr. Richard Kent
http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/evangelism-is-easy-by-dr-richard-kent 22/66
Philip obeyed the Holy Spirit's instructions to go and speak to the Ethiopian. Stop and think! Try to
visualise the scene. The Chancellor of the Exchequer of Ethiopia, directly answerable to the Queen of
Ethiopia, was passing by in a state limousine of the day!
Philip had enormous courage to speak to this government
official in an expensive chariot! The chariot was almost
certainly surrounded by guards!
What would they think of an apparently mad man running
in a desert, of all places, trying to catch up a horse drawn chariot, and trying to speak to a very
important Government official, who they were trying to protect against just such people!
Think about it! Philip had to run very fast to keep up with those horses! This was not a little chat that
occurred as they strolled through the desert! Philip was probably sweating and exhausted by the time
he caught up with the chariot!
- This is what we mean when we write "be bold".
- Boldness is essential for all evangelists!
- Philip was invited to speak more, and you will be too, but you probably will have to speak first!
- Philip asked the question first - we need to do the same!
- Do not expect other people to ask you about the Lord, they very rarely do!
- Instead, when prompted by the Holy Spirit, speak to them first, just like Philip did.
The importance of the Bible
The Ethiopian was studying the book of Isaiah, Chapter 53, the very important part of the Old
Testament prophesying the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Philip asked the obvious question, "Do you
understand what you are reading?"
Only very rarely are people reading the Bible when we approach them, so we do not ask quite the
same question! But the underlying question of all evangelists is always, "Do you have a personal
relationship with Jesus Christ?"
Philip was able to explain to the Ethiopian that Isaiah was writing about Jesus Christ. The Old
8/13/2019 Evangelism is Easy - By Dr. Richard Kent
http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/evangelism-is-easy-by-dr-richard-kent 23/66
Testament was the only Bible available to Philip at the time, since the New Testament had not yet
been written!
Here is a very important principle: Philip, and all evangelists, should always refer to the Scriptures,
and explain them simply and clearly to the unsaved. We try to do just this, and bring in the Bible at
the earliest opportunity. We suggest you do the same!
Another important point is that Philip had a very good working knowledge of the Scriptures. He did
not know that his knowledge of Isaiah 53:7 was about to be tested!
Evangelists do need a good working knowledge of the entire Bible. Evangelists do not have to be
Bible teachers, but definitely do need a good understanding of Bible principles.
Immediately following the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus, no doubt all the believers in
Jerusalem were spending many hours reading and discussing Isaiah 53. Philip was obviously no
exception!
Working from a body of believers
Philip was a member of the church of Jerusalem - and all evangelists should work within a local body
of believers. When we are travelling we always operate from a local group of believers.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God
After the explanation, the Holy Spirit providentially
provided some water for baptism. Philip said that the
Ethiopian could be baptised, "If you believe with all your
heart".
The Ethiopian answered with the statement that all
evangelists long to hear, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the
Son of God."
Following the water baptism Philip was physically removed
by the Holy Spirit, no doubt to the next appointment!
Evangelists tend to travel a lot, or at least that is our experience!
It is interesting that the Holy Spirit considered that Philip's work was now done.

An evangelist is not a pastor! Many evangelists have become exhausted trying to be pastors, and
many pastors have become exhausted trying to be evangelists!
That is why there are the 5 ministries, apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers, as
recorded in Ephesians 4:11.
The Holy Spirit was in charge of the whole event
- The Holy Spirit was in charge of the whole event from beginning to end!
- The Holy Spirit inspired the book of Isaiah, prophesying about the death of Jesus, the Messiah.
- The Holy Spirit was very much involved in the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus.
- The Holy Spirit caused the calling and conversion of Philip.
- The Holy Spirit spoke to Philip about travelling south along the Gaza road from Jerusalem.
- The Holy Spirit had called the Ethiopian, who was already reading the book of Isaiah about Jesus.
- The Holy Spirit arranged for Philip to be directly alongside his chariot.
- The Holy Spirit told Philip to speak to the Ethiopian about Jesus.
- The Holy Spirit revealed the truth about Jesus from the book of Isaiah.
- The Holy Spirit prompted Philip to ask the Ethiopian about his belief about Jesus.
- The Holy Spirit prompted the Ethiopian to say that he believed that Jesus Christ was the Son of
God.
- The Holy Spirit in-dwelt the Ethiopian at his conversion.
- The Holy Spirit convicted the Ethiopian of his need for water baptism.

in the Ethiopian's life.
- We know this because there is a very strong Christian church in Ethiopia now!

Jesus’ Style Of Evangelism
Where did Jesus do His evangelism? Did
Jesus conduct His evangelism in the
synagogue in Nazareth on Friday nights?
He may have, but it is not recorded that
He did! In fact, Jesus spoke to people
wherever they were, usually individually:
- As Jesus was walking along a beach,
Jesus saw Peter, James, John fishing with
their nets and boats.
- He spoke to them right there and then.
He did NOT ask them to come to church
before He spoke to them!
- Sitting by a well Jesus spoke to a Samaritan woman.
- Jesus spoke to Matthew as he was collecting taxes!
- In a graveyard, Jesus ministered to a demon possessed man. He did not take the demon possessed
man to the synagogue!
- Jesus saw Zacchaeus up a sycamore tree, and spoke to him whilst in a tree, not in a church!
- When the Jews were about to stone the woman caught in adultery to death, Jesus spoke to her
about her sin!
- Jesus spoke to the rich young ruler whilst he was on his horse!
- Jesus spoke to the repentant thief on the Cross!
What about Jesus' disciples?
Jesus actually sent out 72 disciples, not 12 as is commonly supposed! Did He send His disciples to
have evangelistic meetings in synagogues?

"After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every
town and place where he was about to go. He told them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers
are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.
Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do
not greet anyone on the road. When you enter a house, first say, 'Peace to this house.'
If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; if not, it will return to you. Stay in that house,
eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around
from house to house. When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is set before you. Heal the
sick who are there and tell them, 'The kingdom of God is near you.' But when you enter a town and
are not welcomed, go into its streets and say, 'Even the dust of your town that sticks to our feet we
wipe off against you. Yet be sure of this: The kingdom of God is near.' I tell you, it will be more
bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town." Luke 10:1-12.
- Jesus sent His 72 disciples out into
the villages and towns to minister to
the people in their own homes, or on
the streets of their neighbourhood.
- Guess what! Jesus Christ is sending
you and us into the world in the same
way!
- Do not expect the world to come to your church to be saved!
- Jesus told us to go into the world to meet people.
- Jesus and His disciples did not conduct their evangelism in the local synagogues!
- Their evangelism was on beaches, in market places, and in people's own homes and streets!
- In fact the spoke to people wherever they were!
- They took the church to the people!
- Do not try to hard to get the people to your church!
- It is not what Jesus recommended!
- And it does not work as well as going to the people!

How To Speak To Complete Strangers
This is one way to do it. You do not have
to do it the same way, but trust me this
way works! We have been using this
method for 30 years. This is a simple way
to get people saved! And, it is really easy!
Try it!
1. Talk to them
In personal evangelism simply talk to the
other person! Be friendly, and ask aboutthe other person. Smile! It helps!
Sometimes you will speak to whole families. This is ideal! Just introduce yourself politely, ask them all
about their family, their home, their job, and anything else they want to talk about.
2. Ask permission to ask them a question
Then say, "Can I please ask you a question?"
3. Ask them this question
"When you die, would you like to go to Heaven?"
Virtually everyone will reply "Yes, I want to go to Heaven" or "I hope to go to Heaven".
Be direct! Do not be vague - be very direct, so that it is not
possible for listeners to misunderstand what you are
talking about!
4. Tell them about being born again
Then say "Have you heard what Jesus said? He said to go
to Heaven you must be born again" Now you have really
got them interested! They usually reply, "Yes, I have heard
that".

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/evangelism-is-easy-by-dr-richard-kent 29/66
If they have not heard any of this, show them in the Bible. It is in John 3:3, and John 3:7.
5. Ask them if they are born again
Ask them "Have you be born again?"
If they have not been born again, ask them if they would like to be, to be sure of going to Heaven!
6. Invite your listener to be born again
It only takes a few minutes to explain the Gospel to them, and simply to pray, right there and then!
They will not be experts in doctrine, but they will be born again! The Holy Spirit will then lead them
into all truth.

Go Into All The World And Preach The Gospel
Jesus said, "Go into all the world and
preach the gospel to every creature",
Mark 16:15.
We would like you to try to imagine the
situation after the Resurrection of Jesus.
Jesus had been raised from the dead, and
had walked and talked with the disciples
for many days. However, Jesus
announced that He would be departing
for an indefinite period of time, and that, the disciples would not see Him again.
We believe that Jesus chose his last words on this Earth very carefully, and that the disciples paid
great attention! This is what He said!
"Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will
be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those
who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick
up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will
place their hands on sick people, and they will get well." After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he
was taken up into Heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. Then the disciples went out and
preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that
accompanied it", Mark 16:15 - 18.
- Notice what the disciples did!
- They went out and preached everywhere!
- Guess what! If you are a disciple of Jesus,
you are supposed to be preaching the Gospel
everywhere too!
Where is everywhere?
- Everywhere is wherever people are!

- If they happen to be in your church, make sure they don't leave without being born again!
- But, mostly, they will not be in your church building, because unbelievers don't want to come!
- So where can you meet people?
- You will normally meet people in cafes, shops, restaurants, banks, airports, beaches, taxis, homes,
factories, shops, hospitals, prisons, or wherever people gather!
- Remember, we are NOT talking about religion, we are talking about a personal relationship with
Jesus Christ, and that is very different!
- There were plenty of religious people around in Jesus' time. In fact, they (the Sanhedrin) arranged
to have Jesus executed.
- There are plenty of religious people around today, but they will probably not try to kill you!
- However, be warned, it will sometimes feel like it!
- Please be very cautious! Jesus said, "Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves.
Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves," Matthew 10:16.
- We are NOT advocating that anyone should put themselves in any danger.

Practical Pointers For Personal Evangelism
- Do not be threatening
- Be very gentle
- Never argue with anyone
- Do not even raise your voice
- Always respect authority (except when
the Government or military law is
specifically against God's laws)
- Always show courtesy and respect
- Always speak to the head of a household first
- Always speak to the manager of a shop or restaurant first
- Always speak to any person in authority first
- The Holy Spirit is gentle
- The Holy Spirit is like a Dove
- Please be gentle do not threaten people with Hell
- Invite them to Heaven instead!
- It is much easier, less aggressive, it works
and it is fun!
Be bold in the natural realm!
In the natural it does take a degree of courage
to walk up to complete strangers, and start
talking to them about Jesus! But, to be honest,
there is no other way to get the job done! Do

not expect the unsaved to come to our church. Jesus has asked us to go to the unsaved!
We approach people all the time in cafes, bars, hotels, airports, on the streets, at the bank, in
supermarkets, in fact anywhere where there are people!
God said, in Joshua 1:9, "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be
afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."
Be bold in the spiritual realm!
Jesus gave us authority over Satan. The real battle is in
the spiritual realm, not in the natural realm. We are not
trying to persuade people into the Kingdom of God with
our clever words! Rather, we are trying to use the
Scriptures to introduce them to Jesus, by the power of the
Holy Spirit.
"Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even
the demons are subject to us in Your name. And He said to
them, I saw Satan fall like lightning from Heaven. Behold, I
give you the authority to trample on serpents and
scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and
nothing shall by any means hurt you. Nevertheless do not
rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but
rather rejoice because your names are written in Heaven," Luke 10:17-20.
Always start at the top
Always start at the top. We are serving the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords. In human society people
look to leaders for leadership, so always speak to those in authority first. Not only is it polite, but if
you can get those in authority on your side, there are usually tremendous opportunities in the rest of
the organisation. This is completely opposite to one's natural instincts, which are to start at the
bottom and work up. There is an authority amongst unbelievers. In an atheist society, that authority
lies with those in charge. So always start with them!
God told Moses to speak to Pharaoh, not to some junior minister. He is saying the same to you and to
us!

Answer challenges with Scripture, quoting the Bible
When you start speaking to others, sooner or later (probably sooner!) you will be challenged about
your beliefs. People will challenge you about any number of Biblical truths, for example:
- God created the universe
- There is life after death
- God exists
- Heaven exists
- Hell exists
- Jesus Christ is God
- Jesus Christ is the Messiah
- Mankind needs a Messiah
- Everyone needs to be born again
- Everyone lives eternally, in either Heaven or Hell

- We all need forgiveness
- Only Jesus Christ leads to God the Father, according to John 14:6
- The Bible is infallible, supernatural, and perfectly reveals the will of God
There are hundreds of different questions that we have been asked over the years! We have found
that the only way to answer all the questions and criticisms is by simply pointing to the appropriate
verses in the Bible.
The Bible is our final authority. If people have a problem with what we say, then eventually they
simply have a problem with the Bible, and with God Himself. We have learned to leave these
problems with Him!
You may find that some of the subjects on this web site, on Creation, Evolution, the Bible, End Times,
Archaeology, and other topics, will help you to answer questions.
NEVER get involved with arguments
NEVER get involved with arguments. Instead
pray quietly, so that nobody can hear you,
against the demonic forces that have blinded
your listener.
"If our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those
who are perishing, whose minds the god of
this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest
the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ,
who is the image of God, should shine on
them", 2 Corinthians 4: 3,4.
Often we speak to others, and they simply cannot understand what we are talking about! Jesus
opened His ministry quoting the following verse from Isaiah, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; he has sent Me to heal the broken
hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those
who are oppressed," Luke 4:18.
Jesus is the One Who sets captives free! Ask Him to do it!

Fight spiritual battles with spiritual weapons
The real battle is in the spiritual realm. Paul said, "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but
against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual
hosts of wickedness in the Heavenly places", Ephesians 6:12.
Be bold in the spiritual realm. Jesus gave us authority over Satan. The real battle is in the spiritual
realm, not in the natural realm. We are not trying to persuade people into the Kingdom of God with
our clever words. Rather, we are trying to use the Scriptures to introduce them to Jesus, by the
power of the Holy Spirit.
We have spiritual weapons, the Word of God, the Bible
"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,
casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God,
bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ," 2 Corinthians 10:4-5.
We should use the Bible at every opportunity to confront our listeners with the truth. The Bible has
tremendous power to bring clarity into all spiritually dark places!
For example, if challenged on the existence of Heaven and Hell simply open your Bible to Luke 16:19,
and read the story of the Rich Man and Lazarus. Jesus did NOT say this was a parable! He said that
Heaven and Hell were real places. But, NEVER get involved in an argument. Just smile and walk
away.
Have a child like faith
- Evangelism is NOT difficult!
- If you have read this far you are already an expert!
- It just requires a child like faith, which you already have!
- You will see more miracles in evangelism than any other ministry!
- Why is this? Because Jesus said, "He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who
loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to
him," John 14:21.

Give out tracts
There is a place for tracts, but chose them very carefully!
There are many Christian tracts available, but it is instructive to watch what happens to most of
them. Most tracts are considered religious and boring, and are very quickly thrown away! We have
seen them in the dustbins 30 seconds after being passed out!
However, there is one type of tract which we do use, designed and published by Jack Chick. These
little booklets are in cartoon form, and if you watch, they are invariably read, which is exactly what
you want! These little booklets simply don't end up in dustbins! These Chick Tracts are the most
popular tracts in the world, are very inexpensive, and are available in many languages.
You can sample this booklet, and many others, on this link:

Heaven And Hell Are Real Places
The two thieves crucified with Jesus
Two criminals were crucified, one on each
side of Jesus. The Bible says that we, like
the two thieves, are all like criminals in
the sight of God. "All have sinned and fall
short of the glory of God", Romans 3:23.
The Bible clearly records the reactions of
the two criminals to Jesus Christ, the Son
of God, Who was crucified between them:
There were also two others, criminals, led with Him to be put to death. And when they had come to
the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and the
other on the left. Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, "If You are
the Christ, save Yourself and us."
But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, "Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the
same condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we receive the due rewards of our deeds; but this
Man has done nothing wrong." Then he said to Jesus, "Lord, remember me when You come into Your
kingdom." And Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you,
today you will be with me in Paradise". (Luke 23: 32-33,
39-43.)
Today one of the criminals is in Hell, and will always be
there. He had an inappropriate reaction to Jesus Christ.
The most common use of the word "Jesus Christ" is as a
swear word.
The other criminal is now in Heaven, and will be there forever. He looked at Jesus Christ, recognised
that He was God, and that he, the criminal, was sinful. The reaction of the second criminal was quite
different from that of the first. As a result, he went to Heaven, whilst the first criminal did not, and is
now in Hell.

Jesus said that Heaven and Hell are real places
Jesus Christ said that both Heaven and Hell are real
places, as real as planet Earth. Heaven is where Jesus
Christ is now, and He wants you to join Him there when
you die.
- Jesus said "Except a man is born again he will not see
the kingdom of Heaven" (John 3:3).
- Jesus also said, "Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children,
you will by no means enter the kingdom of Heaven" (Matthew 18:3).
- So, clearly, entry to the Kingdom of Heaven is something highly to be desired.
- In fact, God wants everyone to go to Heaven: "The Lord is not willing that any should perish but
that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9).
A new Heaven and a new Earth
John the apostle foresaw the future, and wrote,"I saw a new Heaven and a new Earth, for the first
Heaven and the first Earth had passed away" (Revelation 21:1).
Jesus warned us about another place called Hell
Jesus said, "He who believes and is baptised will be saved;
but he who does not believe will be condemned" (Mark
16:16).
Jesus said, 'The kingdom of Heaven is like a dragnet that
was cast into the sea and gathered some of every kind, which, when it was full, they drew to shore;
and they sat down and gathered the good into vessels, but
threw the bad away. So it will be at the end of the age.
The angels will come forth, separate the wicked from the
just, and cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be
wailing and gnashing of teeth' (Matthew 13: 47-50).
Jesus said, 'There was a certain rich man who was clothed
8/13/2019 Evangelism is Easy - By Dr. Richard Kent
http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/evangelism-is-easy-by-dr-richard-kent 40/66
in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day. But there was a certain beggar named
Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate, desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the
rich man's table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. So it was that the beggar died, and
was carried by the angel's to Abraham's bosom. The rich man died and was buried. and being in
torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom' (Luke
16:19-23).
- The point is that the rich man closed his eyes and died in this existence, and immediately opened
his eyes in Hell.
- Jesus Christ is the only One who claimed to be God, has died, been to Hell, and been resurrected.
He is the only One qualified to comment. He said that those people who die without salvation open
their eyes in Hell.

Information 1: The Bible States That We Are All Spirits Living In Bodies
It is important to understand that we are all spirits living in
bodies, and that when we die our spirits leave our bodies
to live in Eternity, either in Heaven, or in Hell.
In order to fully understand the concept of the human
body with an indwelling human spirit we do need to go
back to the original Creation of human beings, as
described in the Bible. This is covered in greater detail in
our teaching CREATION: THE GENESIS ACCOUNT
THE ORIGINAL CREATION OF ADAM AND EVEThe creation of the spirits of Adam and Eve
Adam and Eve were originally created as spirits, created in
the likeness of God. Very soon after that the Lord God
created bodies for them, "and man became a living being."
We start in Genesis 1:26-27, "Then God said, 'Let us make
man in our image, according to our likeness'. So God created man in His own image; in the image of
God He created him; male and female He created them."
Approximately 2,000 years ago Jesus Christ became a Human Being. In Genesis1:26 and 1:27 God
the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit were all Spirits, and they created Adam and Eve in Their exact
likeness. But before that Jesus Christ was a Spirit, as confirmed in the following Scriptures:
Genesis 1:1: "In the beginning God (Hebrew, "Elohiym" pleural, literally "Gods") created the Heavens
and the Earth."
John 1:1-4: "In the beginning was the Word (Jesus Christ), and the Word was with God, and the
Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without
Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men."
Colossians 1:15-17, "Christ is the exact likeness of the unseen God. He existed before God made
anything at all, and, in fact, Christ himself is the Creator who made everything in Heaven and Earth,
the things we can see and the things we can't; the spirit world with its kings and kingdoms, its rulers
and authorities; all were made by Christ for his own use and glory. He was before all else began and
it is his power that holds everything together," TLB.

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/evangelism-is-easy-by-dr-richard-kent 42/66
Thus the Bible states that God (pleural) originally made Adam and Eve as spirits in Genesis 1:27.
But before that Jesus Christ was a Spirit. Therefore they must have made Adam and Eve as spirits in
Genesis 1:27.
We are told that God is a Spirit in John 4:25, "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship
in spirit and truth." Therefore, when They (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) created something in their
exact likeness, they must have created:
1. The Spirit of Adam
2. The Spirit of Eve
Spirit of Adam Spirit of Eve
The spirits of Adam and Eve were created in Their exact likeness.
The Creation of the Bodies of Adam and Eve
Dust Adam and Eve were originally spirits, created in the
likeness of God. Very soon after that God created bodies
for them, "and man became a living being." In Genesis
2:7, the LORD God (Jesus Christ) formed the first living
being, called Man, as recorded in Genesis 2:7: "And the
LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and
breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man
became a living being." According to the Bible, our human
8/13/2019 Evangelism is Easy - By Dr. Richard Kent
http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/evangelism-is-easy-by-dr-richard-kent 43/66
bodies were originally created out of dust.
It is interesting to note that the chemical components of the human body are exactly the same
chemical elements as the dust of the ground. Our physical bodies are made up of 17 chemical
elements. In fact these are the same 17 elements that are found in the dust of the ground. It is a
matter of common observation that, after a body has been cremated, only dust remains.
It appears, from reading these first two chapters of the Bible, that the Creation of the Human Body
was a two-part process. First of all the spirits of Adam and Eve were created in the image of God, and
then these spirits were breathed by God into a human body, formed from the dust of the ground.
It follows therefore, that we too, are composed of flesh, constructed out of the same chemical
elements as the dust of the Earth, but containing an eternal spirit.
When we die our spirits leave our bodies
We are told in the New Testament that human life in the
body cannot exist without the indwelling spirit. James 2:26
states, "The body without the spirit is dead".
When Jesus Christ created the first human body in Genesis
2:7, that body was dead until Jesus Christ breathed into that dead body the "breath of life". This
"breath of life" would by definition have been the spirit of Adam created in Genesis 1:27.
OUR BODIES DIE, BUT OUR SPIRITS LIVE FOREVER
Example 1: Ecclesiastes 12:6-7
The Bible states, "Remember your Creator now while you are young - before the silver cord of life
snaps and the gold bowl is broken; before the pitcher is broken at the fountain and the wheel is
broken at the cistern. Then the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who
gave it", Ecclesiastes 12:6-7, TLB. Thus at death the human body decomposes, but the spirit, which
never dies, returns to God. This means that the "real you" is a spirit that will live forever.
Example 2: When Jesus died on the Cross, He gave up His Spirit
"So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" And bowing His head, He gave
8/13/2019 Evangelism is Easy - By Dr. Richard Kent
http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/evangelism-is-easy-by-dr-richard-kent 44/66
up His spirit," John 19:30.
Example 3: The raising of Jairus' daughter by Jesus
A 12 year old little girl died, and Jesus raised her back to
life. This is described in Luke 8:51-56, "When He came into
the house, He permitted no one to go in except Peter,
James, and John, and the father and mother of the girl.
Now all wept and mourned for her; but He said, "Do not
weep; she is not dead, but sleeping. And they ridiculed Him, knowing that she was dead. But He put
them all outside, took her by the hand and called, saying, "Little girl, arise." Then her spirit returned,
and she arose immediately. And He commanded that she be given something to eat. And her parents
were astonished, but He charged them to tell no one what had happened".
After death there is a judgement
We are also told in Hebrews 9:27, "It is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgement".
When the physical body dies, our spirit will live on, and go either to Heaven or to Hell. Both of these
places have been described quite graphically in many of the stories, and no doubt you have already
decided that Hell is not where you want to finish up!

Information 2: God Loves Us, And Wants Us To Go To Heaven
The Bible states: "For God so loved the world that He gave
His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him
should not perish but have everlasting life," John 3:16.
God loved us so much that He sent His only Son Jesus
Christ to die on the Cross. If we believe this, repent of our
sins, forgive others, accept God's forgiveness, and follow
Jesus Christ, then we are assured of eternal life in Heaven.
In 2 Peter 3:9, we read, "The Lord is not slack concerning
His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsufferingtoward us, not willing that any should perish but that all
should come to repentance".
God does not want anyone to go to Hell, but sadly,
according to Jesus Christ, multitudes do, simply by failing
to take from God the free offer of eternal life in Heaven,
on God's terms.
In Matthew 7:13-14 Jesus said, "Heaven can be entered only through the narrow gate! The highway
to Hell is broad, and its gate is wide enough for all the multitudes who choose its easy way. But the
Gateway to Life is small, and the road is narrow, and only a few ever find it" TLB

Information 3: In Order To Go To Heaven We Must Be Born Again
There is only one way to make certain that Heaven is our
destination when we die. We have to become a genuine
born-again Christian, just like Jesus said in John 3:3 and
John 3:7, and follow the ways and teachings of Jesus
Christ.
Jesus said we must be "born again" before we can see the
kingdom of God. Nicodemus was a Jewish priest who went
to see Jesus at night. This is described in the Gospel of John.
"Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council. Hecame to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no-
one could perform the miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with him." In reply Jesus
declared, "I tell you the truth, no-one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again." "How can
a man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely he cannot enter a second time into his
mother's womb to be born!" Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no-one can enter the kingdom of
God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives
birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should
not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again,'"
John 3:1-7.
Jesus said that none of us would see the Kingdom of God
unless we are "born again" by the Holy Spirit. This is a
spiritual birth, when the Holy Spirit comes to live in us
after we have received Jesus Christ as our personal
Saviour. When we do this God adopts us into His family.
If we reject God's plan of Salvation we will not end
up in Heaven
If we reject the forgiveness that God offers us then we are turning away from Him, and we remain
'sinners'. The Bible tells us very clearly in John 3:36 that eternal separation from God will be the
result of this action: "He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe
the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him", John 3:36.
Romans 3:23 says that we are all sinners in God's sight because we have broken His commandments.
God is holy and pure and sin cannot exist in His presence. The only way to God is to say we are sorry

Information 4: How To Be Born Again
How can I be "born again" so that I go to Heaven when I die?
To be born again, we all must pray a simple prayer. In this prayer there are various simple things you
must do, without leaving anything out.
- Acknowledge to God that Jesus Christ died onthe Cross for you personally, and rose from thedead.
- Ask God's forgiveness for all of the sins that youhave ever committed.
- Turn away from and stop any known sin. This isknown as Repentance.
- Forgive anyone who has ever sinned against
you, or any member of your family.
- Ask God's forgiveness because the Blood ofJesus Christ cleans you personally from sin.
- Ask God to send the Holy Spirit to come to livein you.
- Acknowledge to God that Jesus Christ is your Personal Saviour.
Is there anything else I need to know before praying this prayer?
Yes. It is essential to be aware of some Biblical concepts before this prayer is prayed. These areexplained below. The Sinner's Prayer for Evangelism is in a previous chapter.
What is Repentance?
The Bible says we are all sinful. The Bible states: "All have sinned and come short of the Glory ofGod', Romans 3:23. We must stop anything sinful, and askforgiveness from God Who is Holy, and will not allow sin inHis presence. There are TWO parts to repentance! Onepart is to ask forgiveness for the sin, the other is to stopdoing it. Half the job doesn't count! It is essential to repentproperly, which means spending some time thinking about
your life.
What in practical simple terms does this mean foreach one of us?
In simple terms this means that we should obey the TenCommandments. Here is a shortened version of the TenCommandments: Exodus 20:3 -17 (shortened, from TheLiving Bible)
1. You may worship no other god than Me.
2. You shall not make yourselves any idols, and you must never bow or worship idols in any way.
3. You shall not use the name of Jehovah your God irreverently.
8/13/2019 Evangelism is Easy - By Dr. Richard Kent
http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/evangelism-is-easy-by-dr-richard-kent 49/66
4. Remember to observe the Sabbath as a holy day.
5. Honour your father and mother.
6. You must not murder.
7. You must not commit adultery.
8. You must not steal.
9. You must not lie.
10. You must not be envious of your neighbour's house, or anything else he has.
The first commandment is that we must only worship the God of the Bible. We must all remove anyfalse idols in our lives, such our money, our careers, our homes, our appearance, alcohol, drugs, anyaddictions, or anything else that is more important to us than God Himself. We must stop completelyany form of sin such as swearing, murder, any form of sexual immorality, theft, lying, and lust. We all
have a conscience, which is God's voice within us (see below). God uses our conscience to show eachone of us what He does not approve of.
Who is Jesus Christ?
The Bible is perfectly clear the Jesus Christ is God. Accordingto John Chapter 1, Jesus was present right at the beginningof Creation, and He made everything. Life is in Him. To thosewho receive Him, Jesus gives the right to become a child ofGod. This is explained in the opening verses of the Gospel ofJohn.
'In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. Allthings were made through Him, and without Him was notanything made that was made. In Him was life, and the lifewas the light of men. He was in the world, and the world wasmade through Him, and the world did not know Him. Hecame to his own, and His own did not receive Him. But asmany as received Him, to them He gave the right to becomechildren of God, to those who believed in His name.' (John1:1-4, 10-12.)
Believe that Jesus is the Christ
The Bible is perfectly clear that Jesus Christ, and He alone, is the Messiah. We must acknowledge thisto God the Father in prayer. Jesus clarified that He is the Messiah in the following text: 'The highpriest asked him, saying unto Him, 'Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?' Jesus said, 'I am.'(Mark 14:61-62.)True faith in Jesus Christ will give us eternal life in Him in Heaven, as stated in the following famousverse: 'God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes on Himshould not perish but have everlasting life.' (John 3:16.)The Greek word used here implies having faith in Jesus Christ. It is more than an intellectualacknowledgement that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Many people vaguely believe that Jesus Christis the Son of God. However, true faith in Jesus Christ is much more than this. It is a true faith inJesus Christ, which can only come after a true conversion experience, and receiving the Holy Spirit.
We need to know and believe further facts about Jesus Christ, discussed in the next chapter.

Information 5: Why Jesus Christ Came To Planet Earth 2000 Years Ago
1. To reveal Truth
Jesus said, 'I am the Way, the Truth &
the Life. No one comes to the Father,
except through me,' (John 14:6.) 'He who
has seen Me, has seen the Father,' John
14:9.
2. To overcome Satan
'For this purpose the Son of God was
manifested, that He might destroy the
works of the Devil,' 1 John 3:8.
3. To die for us
'The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many,'
Mark 10:45.
Why was Jesus crucified?
John the Baptist, Jesus' cousin, said about Jesus, 'Behold the Lamb of God, Who takes away the sin
of the world' John 1:29. The Blood of Jesus, spilt at the Crucifixion, is the Blood Sacrifice to atone for
our personal sins, as stated in 1 John 1:7. 'If we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have
fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.'
How may I be forgiven for my sins?
1. Forgive others
'For if you forgive men their trespasses, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not
forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses,' Matthew 6:14-15.
2. Forgive and love, especially your enemies
'Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those
who spitefully use you and persecute you,' Matthew 5:44.
3. Ask forgiveness from God the Father for your own sins
'If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness,' 1 John 1:9.

Information 6: What Exactly Is A Genuine Christian?
1. A Christian is not a "good person", but a reformed bad person
A Christian is not someone who tries to be
good, attends church, reads the Bible, prays,or does good to others, although all of theseare commendable. These things start tohappen after someone has become aChristian, by being born again. Christiansnaturally want to be together, and spendtime with each other, because otherChristians are their new family in JesusChrist.
2. We are saved by grace
This means that nobody can be good enough
to "earn" a place in Heaven. 'For by graceyou have been saved, through faith, and thatnot of yourselves: It is the gift of God, not ofworks, lest anyone should boast,' Ephesians 2:8-9.
3. A Christian is someone who has the Holy Spirit living in them
When we are born again, we receive the Holy Spirit. At the Last Supper, Jesus said, "And I will praythe Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever, the Spirit oftruth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you knowHim, for He dwells with you and will be in you". John 14:16-17. Jesus was referring to the Holy Spirit, who he would send to live in all believers.
After the Resurrection, Jesus appeared in the Upper Room, as recorded in John 20:19-22, "Jesuscame and stood in the midst, and said to them, "Peace be with you." Now when He had said this, Heshowed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. So Jesussaid to them again, "Peace to you! As the Father has sentMe, I also send you." And when He had said this, Hebreathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the HolySpirit".Since then, all believers receive the Holy Spirit when theyare born again. Paul confirms this in 1 Corinthians 6:19,'Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit Who is in you, whom you have from God,'
4. A Christian is someone who follows the teachingsof Jesus Christ.
Jesus said, "He who has My commandments and keepsthem, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will beloved by My Father, and I will love him and manifestMyself to him," John 14:21. The first thing that Jesuscommands from all of His potential disciples is, 'You mustbe born again", John 3:7.
5. Why must I be born again?
Because Jesus Christ, the Son of God, said so, in John 3:3. 'Most assuredly, I say to you, unless oneis born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.' To be born again is to receive the Holy Spirit, God

Information 7: Our Conscience Is God The Holy Spirit Convicting Each OneOf Us Of Our Sins
After Jesus was baptised by his cousin, John the
Baptist, "The Holy Spirit descended in bodily formlike a dove upon Him, and a voice came from
Heaven which said, "You are My beloved Son; in
You I am well pleased," Luke 3:22
A dove in the natural world is a very gentle bird,
and will fly away if disturbed. All humans have a
conscience, which pure science can never explain.
Our conscience is God the Holy Spirit, speaking
quietly to each of us throughout our lives. If we
persist in sin, the Holy Spirit, like a dove, will
depart. This is how some people seem to become
so insensitive to sin in their lives.
In John 8:7-9 a woman was caught in adultery, The Jews were about to execute the woman, and
Jesus said, "He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first. And again He
stooped down and wrote on the ground. Then those who heard it, being convicted by their
conscience, went out one by one." Note that the onlookers were "convicted by their conscience."
Later Jesus said, at the Last Supper, that the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, would convict everyone of
sin: "And when He (the Holy Spirit) has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness,
and of judgement," John 16:8.
The voice of the Holy Spirit convicts us of sin
The voice of the Holy Spirit is gentle, like a dove. His voice is identical to your conscience, since God
speaks to us using our conscience. When you pray, you might like to approach God like a little child,
and ask Him to show you the sin in your life. He will.
You will hear the quiet voice of the Holy Spirit revealing sin in your life, and those things in your life
He wants you to stop doing. He may reveal things from many years ago, or things about your present
lifestyle He wants you to change.
He will also reveal to you those people who you need to forgive. You must forgive anyone who has
sinned against you, or your family, in any way. Jesus said, in Matthew 6:15, 'If you do not forgive
men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.' According to Jesus, you must
therefore forgive everyone, or God will not forgive you.

- Jesus looked up to Heaven when He prayed, so you do not have to shut your eyes!
1. Loving Father, I want to be sure that when I die I do not go to Hell. I want to go to
Heaven, to live with you forever.
2. I believe that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for me personally, and that He rose again
from the dead after 3 days.
3. I need to be born again, just like Jesus Christ taught in the Bible (see John 3:3 and
John 3:7).
4. Please forgive me for all the sins I have ever committed. Please show them to me now,
using my conscience.
5. Pause and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you, which sounds exactly
like your conscience.
6. I ask forgiveness for all of them.
7. I repent of those sins. I will stop doing them. Please help me to stop doing them.
8. I need to forgive. Please show me, using my conscience, the names, or the faces, of
those people I need to forgive.
9. Pause and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you, which sounds exactly like your
conscience.
10. I forgive everyone who has sinned against me, especially (name those people who
the Holy Spirit revealed to you).
11. Please forgive me because Jesus Christ, Your Son, died on the Cross for me.
According to 1 John 1:7, the Blood of Jesus Christ cleanses me from all of my sin. (The
Bible says, "If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one
another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin," 1 John 1:7)
12. I thank You that I am now forgiven, according to the Holy Bible.

The Baptism In The Holy Spirit
The answer to all of the above Road Blocks is the Baptism
in the Holy Spirit!
Receiving the Holy Spirit at conversion is not the same as
the Baptism in the Holy Spirit! When you are first born
again into the Kingdom of Heaven, you are like a little
baby.
Scriptures concerning being born again
At the Last Supper, Jesus said: "I will pray the Father, andHe will give you another Helper, that He may abide with
you forever- the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot
receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but
you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you," John 14:16-17
After the Resurrection Jesus said to them, "Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.
And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit," John
20:21-22.
At this point, the disciples received the Holy Spirit, and
they were born again.
Scriptures concerning the Baptism in the Holy Spirit
John the Baptist said, "I indeed baptise you with water
unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is
mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry.
He will baptise you with the Holy Spirit and fire," Matthew
3:11.
Jesus commanded his born again disciples not to depart
from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Baptism in the Holy
Spirit, "for John truly baptised with water, but you shall be
baptised with the Holy Spirit not many days from
now….but you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has
come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to me in

Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth", Acts 1:5,8.
This power given at the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, transformed Peter. Peter had denied Jesus three
times in the night before the Crucifixion, but was dramatically changed following his Pentecost
experience. Peter preached in Jerusalem immediately after his Baptism in the Holy Spirit, and 3,000
were born again on day one!
The day of Pentecost
"Now when the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And
suddenly there came a sound from Heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house
where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon
each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as
the Spirit gave them utterance," Acts 2:1-4.
Notice that the purpose of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is primarily to give disciples of Jesus power
to preach the Gospel! Speaking in tongues, and the other 8 gifts, are part of the package, but these
are the tools for Evangelism!
HOW TO RECEIVE THE BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT
"If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to
your children, how much more will your Heavenly Father
give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him," Luke 11:13.
"Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when
you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have
them," Mark 11:24.
- It is essential that you receive the Baptism in the Holy
Spirit.
- There is no standard way to receive this.
- Sometimes, church leaders pray for others to receive this, but it is perfectly normal to ask the Lord
to baptise you in the Holy Spirit yourself!
- Just pray and ask the Lord to do this, and then thank Him for doing it! That is what my wife and I

did!
- The whole purpose of this is that you may an effective WITNESS.
- There are gifts of the Holy Spirit, as part of the package!
- These will greatly help you in all aspects of Evangelism.
- There are a great number of books on this subject in any Christian bookshop, but the best book is
the Bible!
The gifts of the Spirit in 1 Corinthians 12
- The word of wisdom
- The word of knowledge
- Faith
- Gifts of healing

What Should You Do With Your New Convert?
Well done on getting your new convert!
Although it may have seemed very easy, this person is
now going to Heaven, instead of Hell.
You may start with one or two converts
But you will soon get the hang of it!
You might like to discuss with your new convert the following:
1. JOIN A CHURCH OF BIBLE BELIEVING CHRISTIANS
There are many Bible believing Christians all over the world. Not all churches believe that the Bible is
the supernatural word of God, and do not interpret the Bible literally! Jesus did! Great care needs to
be taken in choosing the right church!
This is very important, since you will rapidly find that, as a born again Christian, you are in a minority
group! The Bible does encourage believers to meet together regularly (see Hebrews 10:25).
Please ask the Holy Spirit to help you, because your choice of church is extremely important. Also ask
the advice of local believers.
Here are some things to look for in finding the right church for you.
A church that places the authority of the Bible above everything else
This is NOT an easy thing to discern! You do need help on this! A good test would be to try to
discover where the proposed church stands doctrinally on:
- The Supernatural Inspiration of the Bible.
- The Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
- The existence of Satan.
- The Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
8/13/2019 Evangelism is Easy - By Dr. Richard Kent
http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/evangelism-is-easy-by-dr-richard-kent 61/66
- The existence of Heaven and Hell.
- The Creation by God of the entire Universe.
- Jesus Christ's requirement for us to be born again.
- Believer's Baptism in water.
- The Baptism of the Holy Spirit.
- The Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
- Regular plans for evangelism.
- A desire to support the poor and needy in the world.
- The place of Israel in God's purposes.
- Sex outside marriage.
- Abortions.
The Bible is perfectly clear on all of these issues, but there are large number of churches that
interpret the Bible in a different way. For example, the Bible is very clear about sex outside marriage,
but many churches avoid discussing this, for fear of upsetting people.
Other excellent qualities, consistent with New Testament teachings, are:
- A welcoming church.
- A church that provides good Bible based teaching.
- A church that has a number of leaders, rather than one.
- A church that has absolute integrity in all financial matters, including the publication of annual
accounts. You may be giving money to the church, so it will be helpful for you to know where this
money is going to.

4. PRAY REGULARLY, ASKING GOD'S GUIDANCE FOR ALL MATTERS IN YOUR LIFE
The Bible states, "In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise
in your own eyes; fear the LORD and depart from evil" Proverbs 3:6-7.
5. TRY NOT TO SIN IN ANY AREA OF YOUR LIFE
We live in such a sinful society that many things that the world considers completely normal, are
actually very sinful. It will probably take some time before you have sorted your life out!
6. HAVE REGULAR BIBLE TEACHING
Regular Bible teaching is extremely important. Under Resources towards the end of this book we
have given Bible teachers who have inspired us. Fortunately, there are many excellent Bible teachers,
and you will probably quickly find your own favourites.
7. SEEK TO SPEAK TO OTHERS ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF BECOMING A CHRISTIAN.
You may have seen the film Schindler's List, the harrowing
true story of how Oskar Schindler, a German businessman,
who saved over a thousand Jews from almost certain
death in concentration camps in World War 2.
It is important to realise that Salvation is a very precious
gift, bought by Jesus Christ at enormous cost. Only those
who are born again will go to Heaven (see John 3:3 and
John 3:7). Everyone else will not, according to Jesus Christ.
Born again Christians are charged by Jesus Christ to 'Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,
baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,' (Matthew 28:19.)

Final Note From Dr Richard Kent
I hope you have found this teaching on Evangelism
helpful.
This is a very serious business. You are trying to talk to
people so that they end up in Heaven rather than Hell.
If you get involved in Evangelism you are definitely doing
God's will. Other people may not understands you - but
don't worry, they did not understand Jesus either, so don't
worry about it!
I used to be a GP, but this is much more important!
Remember, "Those who are wise will shine like the
brightness of the Heavens, and those who lead many to
righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever" Daniel
12:2.
MOST PEOPLE END UP IN HELL
Jesus said, "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to
destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life,
and only a few find it." Matthew 7:13-14.
Could you please, please help me in trying to stop so many people going to Hell?
I cannot think of anything more important. Can you?
