B31 Ballarat Business Month - Evaluation Survey

The City of Ballarat Economic Program 2015–2019 includes the key platform of “Building Capacity from Within.”

The Strategy identifies that a responsive and supportive business environment is critical to Ballarat attracting

investment and consolidating its position as the capital of Western Victoria.

Enhancing and promoting B31 Ballarat Business Month is a means of promoting industry capability and an integral

part of the “Building Capacity from Within” platform of the Economic Strategy.

A responsive and supportive business environment is critical to Ballarat attracting investment and consolidating its

position as the capital of Western Victoria and as the premier knowledge based regional economy in Australia.

Business development and innovation is driven by the private sector but requires a conducive and supportive

business environment to be fully realised. This relates to having a supportive culture and infrastructure, strategies

and networks in place that support growth, change and new investment.

Innovation is also critical for Business growth and development. Innovation is typically driven from within, via the

creativity and capacity of the workforce, and can be expressed in terms of making existing goods or services better

or in making new goods or services.

Council has two clear Business Development and Innovation Goals:

Create a supportive investment environment which encourages business development and is supportive of

local innovation.

Establish strategies and regulations that are geared to support business development, innovation and

appropriate investment.

We have become a major sponsor of this great business development program as it directly helps the City to

achieve these goals.

Council would like to take the opportunity to thank Commerce Ballarat for their continued development of the

program through your key strength in promoting industry capability and delivering networking and business

development opportunities to the local business community.
