Evaluation Process Formal Evaluations occur once a

quarter. Hopefully evaluation is a regular part of your work with students.

In Summer Quarter, Practicum office mails the document. All other quarters, students receive in their mail boxes

Once the student receives the evaluation they pass the document onto you.

Relationship Issues Students are often more Nervous then

they may appear. This is the time when they need clear

feedback on what worked and what didn’t.

Also give feedback on where you’d like to see them grow professionally

Let students know evaluation is a process and not the end of the world.

Student Roles

The student should advise you of the evaluation’s existence in a timely manner.

Have the student do their part first Some students do not feel

comfortable evaluating their work, while others really do.

PI Role

Practicum Instructor works on the evaluation independently and in conjunction with the student evaluation of their learning experience.

Set aside a formal time to go over the document.

Make this time Important but not necessarily Serious.

Grading and Credit Issues Practicum Instructor recommends Credit/ No

Credit. Practicum Liaison recommends final grade.

Issues that would warrant assigning No Credit. 1. Student does not complete the assigned time

at the Practicum.2. Student does not complete the assigned work.3. The Student does not complete assignments in

a satisfactory manner. The School of Social Work does not assign

partial credit.
