Evaluation Question 7 Looking back to your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product? Our preliminary task involved small groups of people going to a location within our school in order to film a short sequence in which we used shot reverse shot, the 180 degree rule (which we did not break) and many different shots. Looking back, I feel as though I have a learnt a lot since filming the preliminary task. Since the task I now understand the film making process better as well as how to construct a sequence containing creative shots in order to make a video look more interesting as a whole. Before starting the preliminary task we were unsure of many things, such as what the 180 degree rule was which resulted in us making many mistakes. However, once we started using the camera and other equipment, we started to get the hang of things and started feeling comfortable using some of the equipment like the camera, tripod and editing software and understood the things we need to consider when filming an opening sequence. During the preliminary task I understood why it is essential to film the same shot several times and learnt many technical aspects along with it. Below are some of the shots contained within our preliminary task. A variety of shots were used in order to make our opening sequence interesting. Fatima Batool

Evaluation Question 7Looking back to your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Our preliminary task involved small groups of people going to a location within our school in order to film a short sequence in which we used shot reverse shot, the 180 degree rule (which we did not break) and many different shots.Looking back, I feel as though I have a learnt a lot since filming the preliminary task. During the preliminary task I understood why it is essential to film the same shot several times and learnt many technical aspects along with it.Below are some of the shots contained within our preliminary task. A variety of shots were used in order to make our opening sequence interesting.

We used this long shot in the preliminary task in order to show the male going towards his destination. This long shot was used so that we could show just his feet going past in the next shot to make everything more interesting.

We used this medium close-up shot in the preliminary task in order to show the male getting to his destination. This shot was used so that the opening doesnt appear boring. Upon filming this shot, I learned the importance of filming different positions and angles in order to make the opening sequence creative and more engaging for the audience.

This shot was used because we felt we needed a shot of the character walking inside the door before we could actually show him seated in the next shot. This shot could have been filmed better as the shot looked slightly out of focus.

We used this over-the-shoulder shot in the preliminary task in order to experiment with the different types of shots we could use. This shot was particularly good to use because we learned how much space both characters should be covering on the camera in order for the shot to look good. When filming this shot we had to think about the 180 degree rule as we could have broken it if we were filming this shot over the male characters left shoulder.Below are some of the shots which we incorporated from our preliminary task into our two minute opening sequence.

This over-the-shoulder shot was used in our opening sequence because we felt it looked good and interesting when watching back our preliminary task andthought that it would be a good idea to incorporate it. This over-the-shoulder shot was presented more interestingly than the one shown in our preliminary task which made it look better.

Here you can see a close-up shot of the protagonists hand. This shot was incorporated into the opening sequence from the preliminary task to vary the types of shots used in our opening sequence.

This is another close-up shot of our protagonist from our two minutes opening sequence. We used this shot to show the facial expressions of our main character, after using many close-up shots we understood why they are effective as opposed to when filming our preliminary task where we did not think to add many close-up shots as we did not know the importance of them.Overall, I feel I have significantly improved since the preliminary task as I now understand key aspects of filming better and feel I have come a long way since as my understanding has improved and I was able to learn a lot from it as a whole.
