What have you learnt about technologies from the construction of your work?

The first thing I have learnt about technology is image manipulation can help to make the images fit the genre and style I created for my product. For example the pictures I took on the beach to look like action shots from a video had a very cold feel about them due to the cloudy and rainy weather. By upping the colour brightness, contrast and saturation I managed to create a warmer feel to the overall look of the article, which makes the page look more appealing to the reader. I also did this to bring out the ‘majestic’ theme of the music video by showing the gold colours and jewellery on the model on an unusual setting, striking a contrast between outfit, and setting.

The main programme I learnt a lot about was Photoshop in the construction of my work, this helped me remove unwanted backgrounds to create a more professional look by making an image look like it had been taken against a plain background as I did my images at home. The outcome was smooth and although it wasn’t quick or easy it was worth the time because the images look better without the contrasting background. Being able to smooth images with the blur tool also helped in creating a more sophisticated look for my product by making the images look like harsh compared to the soft colours I was trying to use.

Other programmes such as Blogger and SlideShare helped with the construction of my magazine as they allowed me to easily keepon track of my work and updates/changes I had made to it. This came in handy when it came to things such as research into existing products and audience research as it made it so easy to record and change things, rather than having to draw out tables and start again if I got different results. I learnt how to upload PowerPoint's simply to Blogger through SlideShare which meant no formatchanging or editing to fit Blogger, it just transferred onto there and is easily viewed.
