We tried to mirror the genre characteristics of Indie bands which typically are represented through the album cover.

Both similarly share qualities of -URBAN SETTING(placed against a brick wall) -INDIVIUALITY OF STYLE -GRITTY and GRUNGY COLOURING - BAND MEMBERS CENTRALIZED - CONFIDENT and RELAXED FULL BODY LANGAUGE and SHOT

• Andrew Goodwin determines that either• 1. The visuals illustrate the lyrics

• We followed these code and conventions of narrative through our “rights of passage” story where visuals illustrate the lyrics.

• However we challenge these conventions and forms through the use of Stop Motion we had the flexibility to have more visually interesting shots that instead amplify the lyrics.

Close-ups

• Close-Up’s allow the audience to form relationship with the Star.

• Lip-synching authenticates performance.

Star Image MotifsOur Bands Star Image Motif is the style of lead singer Jonny, since it is this which is most relatable and characteristic of Fij.

This is similar to the Star Image Motif of lead singer Lilly Allen, whose style becomes also her brand.

Reference to the Notion of Looking

• Through the use of eye contact, our music video touches on Goodwin’s theory Notion of Looking which creates a link between the person and the audience.

Common feature found in PINK- Who Knew

Pink continually looks towards the camera, and acts like the narrator of the story unfolding between the young couple.

Fij- One More Year

• Our music video is primarily narrative-based, however incorporates a performance-based element through the re-occurring shot of Jonny lip-synching in front of the brick wall. There is a lack of concept-base narrative within the product since the visuals illustrate the lyrics.

• Our music video use’s the form and conventions found in real media products, whilst also challenging them.
