Mark Briggs, Journalism Next

Question   Yes  No

#1 Can you clearly find a specific goal for the content being curated? (Kantor,2011)

Comments: (What is the goal/the objective? Is it clearly identified?)The objectives, to provide resources for pre calculus are clearly identified.

#2 Is there a specific topic identified? (Kantor, 2011)

Comments: (What is the main topic of focus?)Yes! Resources for pre-calculus.

#3 Is the material organized successfully by content? (Cohen, 2012)

Comments: (Does it have a natural “flow”?)

This is one area that I think you can improve upon. I know that it is difficultto organize resources. Perhaps you could organize them by topics withinpre-calc.

#4 Does the curation provide a unique learning experience for the audience? Was it engaging, eye catching and creative?(Rosenbaum, 2012)

Comments: (Explain the format of the learning piece. Does the piecemake others want to comment, be involved and participate?)I thought this was difficult to accomplish and you did a fairly good job. However, there is an option to add a visual to each curated item. I would

recommend the items without visuals you add this to them. It would reallyhelp you page “pop”.

Comments: (Did the expert revise and annotate the material? Explain)I thought your comments were excellent and very specific throughout yourcuration.

#6 Were resources carefully filtered with the specific goal or topic inmind?(Stanic, 2013)

Comments:I thought you had a clear topic (pre-calc) and goal (resources). All yourcurations directly dealt with this.

#7 Do the title and introduction to the curation clearly show what the curationis about and why it is relevant to the audience?(Good, 2011)

Comments:

I thought your title was very clear and would be easily understood by yourtarget audience. This curation would be extremely relevant to your currentstudents.

#8 Were all resources fully explored and not just glanced over, to determine ifthey truly deserve your recommendation?(Rosenbaum, 2012)

Comments: (Did you read through each resource in its entirety to ensurethat it fits your topic and goal, rather than just reading the title and posting. If the full webpage, blog, video does not apply, did you include commentsto guide the audience toward the relevant portion?)

Based on your analysis it appears that you fully explored everyrecommendation

Comments:You did a great job of saying the strengths and weaknesses of each of thesites you.

#12 Does this collection promote participation? (Mihailidis, 2013)

Comments:I think that this really could promote participation. As a teacher you couldrequire students to check the sites and ask a question uniquely found onone of those sites. Technically there really is no way to promoteparticipation, that I could find, on ScoopIt.

Comments:

Yes!

Comments: (What public domain was used to post the piece? Facebook,

Twitter, Diigo, Google Reader, etc. Was it successful to inform that

specific audience?)

You did an excellent job of sharing this project in multiple locations:

WordPress, Facebook, Google Plus and via email!
