She represented by wearing white top with no jacket so that our audience can understand that she is livening in poor condition.

We used the map (prop) to connotes what she was thinking of doing furthermore it creates an enigma for the audience using a map .

Map &key (Props )We used a bag that looks old and out of fashion the reason for our choice of the bag is that we wanted to show how they don’t have enough money to buy new things that are in fashion .

Facial Expressions

Maria is looking down, and she looks in deep thought. This shows that she is thinking about something which is possibly upsetting her.

Here, Maria looks as though she is discussed and unimpressed, which is ironic as this is the scene where she comes home to find her mother drunk/passed out.

Page 13: Evaluation for mise en-scene ......group 5

This face is similar to the previous one where Maria comes home to find her mother drunk. Her glazed eyes looks as though she is about to cry.

Here, Maria looks overwhelmed with emotion. Her titled head suggests that she’s contemplating on something, but is also upset/depressed.

Maria’s body language shows that she is this isolated and insignificant character, this is the reason we didn’t place her in the centre of the shot.
