Real Media Product Form and Conventions: Use and develop Aimed at younger audiences as animations

generally are Animations tend to be of the comedy genre or

have some humour in it The idea of the animation was to relate to kids,

which is what most animations attempt to do We used elements of real life which are often

reflected in kids shows Language used is simple Extraordinary, unbelievable characters

Audience Feedback

For our audience survey, we used survey monkey. Our method of distribution was to emailthe link to people within our target audi-ence age and ask them to pass it on to others of the same. The response rate was lower than we would have liked. This was probably because the survey was open for a very short period of time as well as the fact that we didn’t distribute it to enough areas (eg, facebook or twitter).

The results

16-20 year olds were the most responsive. This could be because they have more of an online presence and are more likely to answer online surveys than any other age group.

We took this into account when we decided to change the ending from a happy all’s well one to a cliff hanger. The ending is shrouded in mystery so the audience doesn’t know what happens but can suspect. We changed it so that it wouldn’t become a typical predictable film where everything works out perfectly. Where’s the entertainment in that?

When asked what their opinion on the representation of their age group in animation:

Most said that they aren’t bothered by the representation in animations as there aren’t really all that many. Others said that teenagers are mostly presented in a slightly negative light, e.g. ‘funny, stupid, rebellious, bullies.’ Some of the responses stated that they would mind seeing a more realistic representation of teenagers in films.

Combination of ancillary texts and main product: poster

The poster is effective with the film because it is eye-catching and colourful as a kids film poster should beOur focal image is that of the actor surrounded by brightly coloured aliens. This automatically draws the eye and intrigues the viewerThe poster will attract the target audience as this kind of wild imaginings is their area of expertise, especially as the actor on the poster is an adult and not a childOur title is big and bold, unmissable It easily suggests that our film will be some kind of spoof/comedy simply from the title ‘mithon impothible’It follows the conventions of a real poster, as we also have a tagline, logo, production company info, etc
