Evaluation Question 3- What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Receiving audience was very important to me and I feel it plays a large part in my progression from draft to final product. The feedback that I received established all the critical errors that were I need of changing, and it helped me reconsider particular aspects of our products that maybe lacked clarity or realism. To get this feedback I asked a the media students within our class to do this via blogger and I also asked for face to face feedback, to get instant feedback, This allowed me to receive the back quickly and efficiently, I also asked them to break down feedback into sections; improvements, things they liked, and if it seemed like an authentic product. The audience that we used to receive our feedback had features of my target market and some fit the criteria perfectly, it was important for me to get feedback from people who may not necessarily listen to the indie rock genre. They were all young teenagers aged 17-18 both genders and interested in music products however with different genre preferences.

Digipak:

Jojo Downing fits into my target audience, she’s 17 years old who enjoys indie/rock music and likes bands such as Foals, Arctic Monkeys. She commented upon the bleakness of the digital and recommended that I added something on the inside left, and gave a personal recommendation of what she would do. However, she commented on the head silhouette and said how the simplicity of this catches her attention. Overall, she thought the digipak was a strong product.Jojo’s opinion was important to me as she would be a consumer and it would need to appeal to her.

Kadie Howard does not conform to my target audience, she’s a 17 year old who enjoys Hip-hop/Grime music and likes artists such as Kanye West, Asap Rocky and BBK. She commented upon the positioning of the text on my digipak saying how it needs to be centralised like the rest of my texts to ensure continuity. However, she said one thing she like was the dark colour scheme of the silhouette and how its stands out and catches the audiences eye. Overall, she thought the digipak would make an authentic product with minor adjustments’ wanted to find out what the opinion of those who do not listen to the indie/rock genre to see their opinion and see if it would appeal to the mass market.

Cameron Letts fits into my target audience; he’s 17 years old who enjoys listening to Indie/Rock music and listens to bands such as Catfish and the Bottlemen and The Courteeners. Cam commented upon adding something to the left cover, something Jojo commented upon and this shows a trend of improvements that I need to make when creating my final product. However, he has commented upon the silhouette head image, this also shows a correlation through the audiences that this is something that I will keep within my digipak, and something that is aesthetically pleasing to all those who have viewed my digipak.

Overall I am pleased with the feedback I received. I have appealed the target audience and impressed those outside the target audience, which will hopefully guarantee the realism of the music video and other ancillary text of products I have created. From the first lot of feedback for my digipak and advert draft I took it all on to help produce a much more effective final product that would suit the target audience much better. I discovered that the front right cover seemed to be a major problem to the audience; it was too boring and didn’t catch the eye of the audience, and to suit the indie genre it needed to be more clear and bold. Mr Smith brought to my attention there was also some concern with the head shape and whether it was suitable with the image with it, I tested out different images within it to see what the best result was and I found that no image was the most effective. Creating a simplistic head which would be the brand image for the band, it would stand out and because of the minimalism would catch the eye of the audience.

Poster:

Unfortunately due to errors on blogger, the comment on my poster was deleted and I currently have no feedback for this. To overcome, the challenge I decided to go to individuals in the class and ask them what they liked and what they would suggest for improvements. It was very important for me to do this as having no feedback wouldn’t be able to recognise where there needed to be room for improvement and what my target audience thought of it.

Katie Chamberlain is someone who would fit into my target market
