Departamento de Filologas Inglesa y Alemana LICENCIATURA EN FILOLOGA INGLESA ADELEX: EVALUACIN Y DESARROLLO DEL LXICO A TRAVS DE INTERNETBreve descripcin/ Short course description ThiscourseisdesignedforEnglishPhilologystudentswhowanttoenlargetheir lexicalcompetencebymeansofanonlinecourse.Inashortandintensive programme, we have developed activities to expand word knowledge, collocations and lexical phrases and encourage the use of dictionary look-up, linguistic corpora andotherlinguisticresourcesontheweb.Activitiesaimatprocessingdiscrete lexical elements (synonyms, false friends, homonyms, homographs, homophones, metaphors,clinesetc.)throughgap-filling,multiplechoicequestions,semantic mapsorquizzesandareconcernedwiththedevelopmentoflexisbothatthe sententialandthetextuallevel.Inthissense,wewillprovidestudentswithinitial homebasesitesfromwhichtheycanbranchouttofindothers.Thus,theywill profitfromvisitstootherwebsitesandevenmakeuseoftheInternetsoftware. To produce a site with usable and attractive materials online and available links to interesting resources on the web. The site will be a storehouse of regularly updated teaching materials.Contenidos/ Syllabus Module 1: Studying vocabulary from a linguistic and pedagogic perspective Module 2: Knowing a word through online dictionaries Module 3: Learning collocations Module 4: Semantic fields: Tourism Module 5: Vocabulary and the British Press Module 6: Vocabulary and Culture Module7:Acquiringconversationalcompetencethroughamicroetnographic analysis of films: Guess Who's Coming to Dinner Module 8: Learning vocabulary through films: Casablanca Mtodos docentes/ Teaching methods This is a modular virtual course where learners will have 2 weeks to work on each module. They will first have to read the contents included in the module itself and after that, they will complete all the assignments and tests to be sent to the tutor. Regular participation in forums and online discussions is also a requisite. Evaluacin/ Assessment Criterios de evaluacin / Assessment criteria: Assessment is not based on a final exam, so regular and active participation will be essential on this online course and will count towards the final grade. Students will have to take part in forums and log on a minimum of once a week, either with questions or comments. Forums will be related to module topics. Procedimientos de evaluacin / Assessment procedures: Assignments and tests in each module (70%) Participation in forums, chats and online discussions.
