EVACUATION SIGN & DIAGRAM

DO NOT REMOVE A BLOCK (IT Lab)

FIRE FIGHTING EQUIPMENT Installed in this building are:

Dry Powder Extinguishers (red with white band)

Check the Extinguisher label for instructions.

Under no circumstances should you use water on or near live electrical equipment.

SAFETY MEASURES Turn off all electrical appliances and shut all doors

if possible. Your first role is life safety. Only attempt to

extinguish a fire IF SAFE TO DO SO.

EVACUATION PROCEDURES

STAGE 1:- Removal of people from the immediate Danger Area Occupants and staff in the immediate danger area are to assemble a safe distance away from the fire and smoke. When evacuating the area, all doors and windows should be closed (if safe to do so) to contain the fire.

STAGE 2:- Complete Evacuation of Entire Complex Should the emergency necessitate evacuation of the whole building, school staff or fire service personnel will direct occupants to the nearest safe ASSEMBLY AREA.

STAGE 3:- Roll Call. Must be conducted as soon as possible to ensure all persons are accounted for. Report any missing persons to FIRE WARDENS (SCHOOL STAFF) OR FIRE SERVICE OFFICERS.

STAGE 4:- ASSEMBLY AREA Remain at the Assembly Area until notified by school staff it is ‘all clear’ to re-enter school buildings.

FIRE EXTINGUISHER OPERATION Stand well back from fire (about 3 M) Always face the fire with your back to a clear doorway Always have someone with you Use the PASS method

P - pull the pin A - aim at base of fire (at fuel source) S - squeeze the handle S - sweep the fire from side to side

As the fire diminishes, slowly move closer towards the FIRE staying 1 m away. Take care not to breathe in smoke or that fire does not reignite.
