The Evac UMS 5050 is a compact heavy duty shredder de-signed for shredding various waste materials such as general waste, plastic, paper and cardboard, metal tins and wood. With the slow rotating shredder the noise level is kept to a minimum.
A feeding hopper is placed on top of the unit and the safety switches on the doors ensure safe handling of the machine. The unit reduces the volume of ship-generated garbage by up to 90% depending on the fraction, which in turn reduces the amount of storage space required.
The shredder is suitable for reducing volume and preparing waste prior to any incineration. The shredded material is collected in a stainless steel box for onboard incineration or transport ashore.
The shredder has an electronic overload control. When over-loaded the shredder reverses in order to turn the material, then starts again.
The Evac UMS 5050 has been examined and tested by DNV/GL Maritime for the purpose of marine and offshore installations.
