The doors will open to the Dining Room at 6:00 PM with dinner being served buffet-style at 6:30 PM. Prior to entering the Dining Room, please pick up your reservation ticket in the bar. You will need it to pay for dinner. Monthly dinner prices: Senior Members (65 and older) $14.00 Members $15.00 Guests $20.00 Children (10 and under) $ 5.00 October 2019 dinner menu: Tossed Salad with Onati Dressing Basque Style Pork Ribs Alaskan Cod Oriotarra Basque Paella Menestra de Verduras Bread & Butter Wine & Coffee Dessert There will be free babysitting service during the dinner. Please leave the name the reservation is to be held under, the number of people in the party, the age designation (Adult, Child, Senior or Guest) and your contact info. Please indicate if you will need babysitting, along with the names and ages of the children. A special thanks to Jesus Alcelay, Miren Urresti Laughrin, and the fantastic crew for preparing a delicious meal! The deadline for dinner reservations is 8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 9. PLEASE NOTE: Reservations called into the bar will not be accepted, and reservations left after October 9 will not be accepted. The Basque Foundation, Inc. would like to thank the many families and organizations who have acted as a host group for a monthly dinner. Due to busy schedules and timing we are always in need of additional assistance. If your family or organization would like to get involved, please email [email protected]. 3 OINKARI SAGARDOTEGI

Our annual transition from Basque Center Hall to Oinkari Sagardotegi falls on November 23. Jesus Alcelay is set to prepare a traditional Sagardotegi spread, just like you’re in the Basque Country! Our cider barrels are ready to txotx—are you? Tickets are available at oinkari.org/sagardotegi for $50 per person or $500 per table of 10. Tickets include a traditional sagardotegi dinner, entertainment, and night full of txotxing! ESKERRIK ASKO FROM OINKARI

Thank you to everyone who has helped with the Oinkari chorizo booth this season. With the generous hearts of our families, friends, Aiztan Artean, Euzkaldunak, and many others, we found ourselves quite a bit less stressed about chopping onions, transporting croquetas, and grilling solomos. 4 MORZILLA MAKERS NEEDED!

We need your help to make the morzillak for the annual Morzilla Dinner on Saturday, November 2, 2019. Efforts begin Tuesday, October 29, at Fiddlers Green Farm (see directions below). Same location as 2018. Drop in anytime between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM to help prepare the onions and leeks. Wednesday, October 30, we will be cooking the onions and leeks from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Thursday, October 31, at the Basque Center, we will make the morzillas in two shifts: 7:00 AM to 12:30 PM, and 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM. A lunch for both shifts will be served at the break - at approximately 12:30 PM. If you can’t help out on either of those days, consider Friday, November 1, at the Basque Center from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM, when we will be packaging the morzillas. Making morzillas is probably the most unique of our volunteer efforts, and it’s also a lot of fun. 5 CHILDREN’S HALLOWEEN PARTY

The Kids' Halloween Party continues to be a hit each year! And, it's that time of year again! All members and their children (under 10) are invited to come and celebrate Halloween at the Basque Center on Sunday, October 27 from 3:00-5:00 PM. "Cost of admission" will be candy or a homemade treat of your choice to share. The idea would be for the kids to "trick or treat" at each family's table placed around the room. To get into the spirit, families are encouraged to decorate their table. There will be a costume show for the kids (and maybe even adults), cookie decorating, and lots of fun! 6 PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

“Izan zirelako gara, garelako izango dira” (Because they were we are, because we are they will be) was never more evident than at the September Dinner where we gathered to honor and recognize the Legacy Award Recipients. 39 recipients were recognized with 33 able to participate in the ceremony. Euzkaldunak is again proud to recognize their contributions to the Basque Center - 70 years strong! You may have noticed several recent changes to the Basque Center in regards to security personnel, access to/from events and the movement of alcohol between physical areas. These changes are the result of additional conditions now being required by Boise City for Alcohol Beverage Catering Permits for every Basque Center event held outside of the physical bar/patio. We must be compliant under penalty of losing our liquor license. We are diligently working with the ISP Alcohol Beverage Control and the BPD Community Outreach Division to help mitigate the impact. Your patience and understanding as we work through these issues is greatly appreciated.
