1. Executive summary
EuroTraining is a unique platform to support European training suppliers and training users in the field of nanoelectronics and micro/nano systems.
The initiative consists of:
- A continuing training offer all over Europe with a strong focus on nanoelectronics and micro/nano systems courses. Two very important EuroTraining assets are the European Course Directory www.eurotraining.net containing over 1000 updated continuing training sessions and the accredited Quality Labelling service.
- An action to support graduate schools in nanoelectronics with courses, summer schools and general training knowledge and to encourage them to share the basic development of courses, text books and training material.
- A global action establishing training requirements of EU companies with production or development in Far East. This action will also extend the cooperation with networks in the USA, Japan and Korea.
All services offered are gathered in the European Training Infrastructure website www.eurotrainng.net which has been extended with a multimedia platform in month 18. The website contains updated information on graduate university courses, teaching materials, continued training offers and training-the-trainers programmes. Special efforts are devoted to establish a single European platform for multimedia based training.
The website eurotraining.net is the “heart” of the project. All services proposed by EuroTraining are accessible via this platform.
All promotion activities describe the services of the website and indicate the web address www.eurotraining.net.
This report describes the communication and dissemination tools used in the second year:
- EuroTraining website www.eurotraining.net with new pages and functions
- Press Reviews - Distribution of EuroTraining flyers at conferences and events - Social media - Presentation of project results in international conferences - Electronic newsletters to over 16’000 addresses
Some recommendations in the reviewers report on the Y1 Progress report concerned the promotion activities. The consortium has worked on these points and reports on the results in a dedicated chapter of the Y2 Progress report.

4. Promotion by Flyers
Flyers are an efficient communication tool that can be distributed to interested contacts in research and industry.
The EuroTraining flyer presents the objectives of the project, shows the main services available on www.eurotraining.net and indicates the contact data of the partners.
It is available for download on eurotraining.net.
Back page Front page Interior pages
A special effort has been made in 2014 to have the flyer distributed to the participants of related international conferences, meetings and workshops. Totally nearly 2’500 flyers have been distributed and thus contributed to make the EuroTraining services known to a larger public. More flyer distribution has already been booked for 2015 (DATE, MEMS, ISSE...).

5. Promotion by Social Media
Social media are more and more used by the target group aged below 40.
Facebook and Twitter accounts have been created for EuroTraining.
In 2014, all partners have actively promoted the EuroTraining Facebook page. It has also been announced by several ET newsletters to 16’000 subscribers. A paying action to get more related “Likes” has been undertaken, too.
All actions have resulted in 315 “Likes”.
The EuroTraining facebook page
Twitter and Facebook links on eurotraining.net
A test has been done with paying promotion on facebook:
1) Facebook page promotion:
Date: 11.08.-10.10.2014 (2 months)
Budget: CHF 100.—
Results:
- www.eurotraining.net : 1530 clicks
- ET webinars: 415 clicks
Board decision: continue in Spring 2015
2) Facebook “Get more page likes” promotion
Date: 20.10.-19.11.2014 (1 month)
Budget: CHF 2/day
Results:
Start: 106 “Likes”
End: 302 “Likes”
But: new “friends” are not very valuable addresses (among them are children as well as people with strange photos...). They very probably come from “like” farms which widely collect addresses for advertisers.
Board decision: not to continue

7. Promotion by EuroTraining Newsletter
EuroTraining disseminates information about its activities and all training and services available on
www.eurotraining.net by regular newsletters.
At the start of the EuroTraining project in January 2013, the newsletter subscription list taken over from the former EuroTraining project was down to 6’700 addresses.
All partners have actively collected addresses at events and on the internet so that we arrive, in the end of 2014, at 16’159 newsletter subscribers.
Usually, the newsletter is sent out every month (except July/August).
A test with 2 newsletters per month has been done during 4 months to see if a higher frequency leads to
a significant increase of visits on www.eurotrainin.net .
The positive result was more visits but the negative side effect was an increase of people unsubscribing from the newsletter. So it was decided to come back to a monthly distribution.
The newsletter has been sent out 14 times and promoted the quality labelled courses, the new services and information available on eurotraining.net and specific events where EuroTraining was represented.
An overview of the newsletters sent out in 2014 is below:

In 2014, all partners have contributed to increase the newsletter subscription list from 11’456 to 16’159 addresses. Many addresses are also received from new customers subscribing to the newsletter via eurotraining.net (70% of our visitors are new ones).
There have been additional efforts to collect addresses in certain countries so that the number of addresses per Member State is reasonably correlated to the size of its population. The aim was to get a ration of parts/mio inhabitants of 15 and later of 18, which has been achieved, except for 2 countries. This activity is ongoing.
Information on project results and ET services has been disseminated to industry and university. In fact, the maillist data base contains addresses from university as well as from industry (.com addresses).

9. Conclusions
The website eurotraining.net is the centre of the project. All results and services proposed by EuroTraining are accessible via this platform.
As a consequence, all dissemination activities of the project mention the platform www.eurotraining.net or give a direct link to it.
The dissemination tools have been selected according to the target groups from academia and industry with the aim to efficiently communicate the many results of the project and the services available on www.eurotraining.net.
The success and the efficiency of the dissemination and promotion activities described in the previous chapters are shown by several facts:
- The increasing use of the platform www.eurotraining.net (from 5’202 visits in 2013 to 10’320 visits in 2014) demonstrates that the communication and promotion activities reach the target group which are engineers, students and researchers in the field of nanoelectronics and micro/nanosystems and make these people come to the platform.
- The increasing number of redirections from eurotraining.net to the course providers’ websites (from 22’000 in 2013 to 31’000 in 2014) shows the increasing interest of visitors in the courses and services announced on eurotraining.net
- The increasing number of course providers and training sessions promoted on eurotraining.net (from 782 in 2013 to 1016 in 2014) shows that the service is now well known by course providers.
... more figures and all graphs demonstrating the positive evolution of the usage of the EuroTraining services over the years can be found in the separate Performance Indicator Report.
EuroTraining has thus fully performed its role as a unique one-stop-platform for EU based training in subjects related to micro-/nanoelectronics and micro-/nanosystems.
