  • CALL FOR SPEAKERSThe call for speakers is open to researchers and practictioners active in the field of healthcare design, plan-ning, construction and management and in public health, real estate and built environment.The objective is to collect the most recent and innovative experimentations, researches and applications that aim at unfolding the relationship between health and built environment in terms of health promotion and pre-vention in urban areas, hospital facilities and social and economic policies.The abstracts will be evaluated by a Multidisciplinary Scientific Board of experts and the authors will have the possibility of exhibit their work at the European Symposium Design & Health in Europe: global perspectives and local identities in healthcare that will be held at Politecnico di Milano from 28th to 31st of March 2019 in form of poster session or oral presentation.The selected authors oral presentation will be contacted with specific instructions about how to proceed to the subscription.The challenge is to collect original and innovative piece of work related to the two main areas:

    Hospital Design and Urban HealthAmong the different topics, authors are asked to focus on:Tradition and innovation in Healthcare Architecture: future trends and current debatesi.e. Salutogenic Design, Flexibility in Architecture, SustainabilityOrganizational and Spatial qualities for healthcare planning, delivery and managementi.e. Working spaces, Indoor Air Quality, Evidence-based DesignSustainable strategies for environmental, technological and societal development in urban areasi.e. Ageing Society, Mental Health, Urban sustainability, Healthy Design StrategiesHealth Promotion and Disease Prevention in cities: innovative tools, strategies and methodsi.e. Walkability, Design for All, Healing gardens

  • FUTURE LEADER AWARDThe Future Leader Award is a design competition for students from Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree – I and II level, PhD, Specialization programs and academic courses.Students and graduates (up to 2 years from the dissemination), coming from the Schools of Architecture, Design, Economics, Engineering, Medicine, etc., with research works in the field of organization, management or design of working and healing environments, and/or projects related to urban health and health promotion in built environments, are invited to participate to the call for award. The projects should have been developed in the last two years (2016 - 2018). A group of students can take part in the competition, but it is requested to identify a spokesperson of the group, and to list all the names of participants.

    Each participant can present only one proposal in one of the two sections:• CATEGORY A - URBAN HEALTH – related to urban scale projects;• CATEGORY B - SALUTOGENIC DESIGN – related to architectural scale projects (schools, healthcare facil-ities, working spaces, etc.).

    - 1 panel (A1 format - vertical orientation) in .pdf that summarizes the project and/or results of the research project;- 1 page (A4 format) that summarizes the research work and/or the texts carried out, in which it is necessary to highlight the University, Faculty/School, Year, names of the teachers/supervisors of the course/thesis ;- 1 .pdf presentation (standard format 4:3) – maximum 10 slides that illustrate the project and the relationship with health promotion strategies and/or salutogenic approach.

    All the submitted projects will be projected and/or exhibited during the Symposium in Milan.Entries are judged by a comittee of experts representatives of the European Chapter.The winner of each category will benefit of free conference fee and the participation to Gala dinner for prize-giving. In addition, the project/research project may be published on some journals and magazines, or the web-site of the Academy. Mentions will be considered to the best works.
