The BSkyB HD platform at launch will support:Transport Stream

MPEG-2

Modulation DVB-S and DVB-S2

CODEC SD - MPEG-2HD –MPEG-2 and H.264

Resolution 720p/50 and 1080i/251

Audio MPEG1 layer 2 or Dolby Digital or Dolby Digital Plus audio decoding (2 channel or 5.1 channel)

CA DVB common scrambling algorithm with NDS CA

Middleware OpenTV

Video Output Digital - HD or SD via HDMI connector (with HDCP) Analogue will support SD only; via SCART and S-Video connectors

1 1080i/25 means 25 frames per second delivered by 50 interlaced fields per second
