Measuring Instruments Directive (MID) – 3
Binding on the Member States, not directly on individuals
Member States may prescribe the use of…(Art 2).…. but if they do, the regulation must be consistent with the directive so that there are no legislative barriers to trade (Art 3)
Regulates up to the stage of placing on the market and putting into use.
In service verification not specifically covered by the MID

Measuring Instruments Directive (MID) - TIMING
Entry into force (Article 26) : 30/04/2004
Transposition (Article 24) : Member states shall adopt and publish the laws, regulations and administrative provisions necessary to comply with the MID before 30/04/2006
Member States shall apply these provisions from 30/10/2006 (Article 24)
Transitional provisions (Article 23) : 30/10/2016
