As the hosts of EuroSkills 2020, we very much look forward to welcoming you to Graz in September 2020!

professional contest.

Media registration

The EuroSkills 2020 team looks forward to hosting media attending EuroSkills 2020 in Graz, Austria.

The event will be held at the Messe Congress Graz, 16. – 20. September 2020.

This guide will assist you in planning your trip to Graz to apply for media accreditation to cover the event.

Every effort will be made to ensure journalists have all the appropriate faci-lities necessary to work at the event.

By sending the media registration form to communication@euroskills2020.at

you will receive all information for the online registration system.

All media must apply for media accreditation through the online registration system.

Accreditation will be granted to professional journalists and photographers only.

With the registration process you also can purchase your accommodation package - please be aware that you book your package as soon as possible

due to a first come first serve principle.

The deadline to apply for media accreditation via the media registration form is

Friday, May 15, 2020.

Visaapplication

Austria is part of the Schengen Area, which agreed on the abolition of bor-der controls between themselves and on common visa regulations.

By applying for an Austrian Visa, a foreigner applies for so-called Schengen Visa which allows him/her to travel inside of the Schengen Area without

any restrictions. Schengen Visa holders do not need additional special visa for Austria.

Messe Congress Graz Convention and Exhibition Centre will host EuroSkills 2020.

The Messe Congress is in excellent reach between city center and feeder road Graz-Ost and offers – besides the proximity of the picturesque historic

center and top of the line hotels – an impressive infrastructure.

The Stadthalle Graz is the biggest convertible hall of the city. But also one of the most modern in Europe.

The media facilities at the press center are fully equipped with work desks for more than 150 persons, power outlets, wired and wireless internet, TV,

printing station, screens and lockers.

Aufsteirernfestival

Aufsteirern is the name of a festival that celebrates Styria – the sunny south-eastern part of Austria. The Styrian people like to share their pride

and joy about their way of life and their folklore.

The Aufsteirern Festival starts with the Fashionshow “Pracht der Tracht” on Friday. In front of the town hall of Graz Styrian labels present the latest

trends in typi-cal Austrian fashion. The second day of the Aufsteirern Festival, which is called

“Volxmusik on Air”, is the day of music! Traditional Austrian music is combined with different styles of musc. Enjoy inspiring,

typical and modern rhythms and sounds from numerous Austrian groups at many squares in the city of Graz!

Aufsteirern is a festival for everyone who loves Styria and Austria. You are welcome to join in and celebrate the Styrian way, traditions, and hand

crafts!

Besides this, indulge in Styrian cuisine and take a break at one of the nu-merous Styrian food stalls. As people are brought together by experiencing and understanding different cultures, Aufsteirern would like to invite you to get in touch with the Styrian culture by introducing very unique special-ties like our famous pumpkin seed oil, authentic Styrian dances and music

TransportationAn extensive public transportation network makes Graz an easy city to na-

vigate without a car.

TrainFrom the main train station (Hauptbahnhof), regional trains link to most of Styria. Direct trains also run to most major cities nearby as to Slovenia,

Croatia, Czech Republic, Italy, Germany or Switzerland.

PlaneGraz Airport is about 10 kilometres south of the city centre and has a rail-

way station within walking distance.

CarThe A9, runs north-south through Graz. The A2, just south of the city, runs

east-west. Vienna (Wien) is 198 km (2hrs) up the A2 to the east.

ClimateThe weather in Graz is mediterranean influenced.

Graz lies in a basin that only opens to the south, causing the climate to be warmer than would be expected at that latitude.

LanguageThe official language in Austria is German.

CurrencyThe Austrian currency unit is Euro (EUR) divided in 100 cents.
