BMX Bicycle Moto Cross

Bicycle moto cross (BMX) started in the late 60’s in California, just about the same time as motorcross became a popular sport in the United States.

In April 1981, the International BMX federation was founded and the first World Championships took place in 1982. Since 1993, BMX has been fully integrated with Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).

BMX made a successful debut in the Olympics in Beijing 2008. In the Olympics in London the races became even better and the popularity increased.

Union Européenne de Cyclisme (UEC) is the European cycliste union which together with Engelholms BMX Klubb arranges the European Championship 7 & 8 in Ängelholm.

About 1500 participants from 20 countries compete in 12 races around Europe.

Sweden and Ängelholm arrange two of these races as the only town in Scandinavia.

The race will take place on the 1st and 2nd of June.

We expect about 1000 participants in Ängelholm.

Last time a European Championship took place in Sweden was in 1993.

We expect about 3000 – 4000 spectators each race day.
